Varusteleka Särmä TST RP80 Recon Pack First Look
The RP80 is a large, top-and-bottom loading sustainment pack that carries enough gear to keep you going for weeks. Although streamlined and straightforward the pack design offers almost endless possibilities for modular scaling and optimizing
Designed for the Nordic end-user, this requires large backpacks to be tall and slim, not short and wide as most European and American designs. This design keeps the weight closer and above your center of gravity and spine and allows for unrestricted arm movement when skiing.

Looks like an amazing bag - less the price! Look forward to your in-depth review.
I've tested it already, rides well
@@RedBranchBushcraft Did the Berghaus 80l pack I sent you arrive OK?
@@edpikestone6800 yes buddy, taking it out for a look now
It's 90 litres but you wouldn't think it, it's nearly exactly the same as the Spartan 60
@@RedBranchBushcraft I thought it was 80l, with the 2 side pouches it goes up to 100l. But maybe I am thinking of the older versions. You can get them pretty cheap from mil surplus shops.
we need to hear more of this pack!!!
Ruck test is coming up, make sure you have notification turned on
Pricey. I'd have to start a youtube channel to fit that in my budget. Stihl frosty.
Lol
Beast of a bag for sure and I have often lusted for it, however my entire primary kit is likely only about $400 CAD all in and has been fine tuned for ages to be perfect for me. Mind you if I were to buy it all new now I would likely be shelling out a lot more!
That's true, prices only seem to be going up
Oooohhhh I like that lol
Nice
I really really wish that you'd told me the price at the end of the review lol. Nice thing, great frame and will serve you for years but I paid £500 for my first car in 1984 lmao. A very good bag and you can see the quality in it. I know I always say this to you but the Tasmanian Tiger Mk2 Field Pack is £200. Is that worth £300 more ? Maybe, but...
Good to have you back Wooly, hope you had a good break. 🏴
Cheers buddy
Looks exactly like a Mardingtop 75L, except with an external frame. Looks to have worse padding, too, and 4-5 times more expensive. Just buy the Mardingtop. I have one and it's very good quality. I like the built-in water bottle holder on the waist belt.
Nice one
If the whole package is to expensive I'd still recommend buying the frame with straps and belt to anyone looking for a great external frame. Strap on a drypack or some other pack on it instead 👍
Be great with an Alice pack
I add two Savotta Side Pouch 12L and a Särmä TST DP10 Roll-Top Day Pack on my TST RP80 it change the hole pack lots of storage now , something i wish they make is a gun attachement to add at the front center of it because it make it very unbalance on one side pocket
Nice
Noice 👍👍👍👍
Cheers Ken
Interesting time for a review on this as I was just looking it on their site, but geez, the price.
Nice one , there might be a discount code in the description, not sure if it will still work though
I wish Varusteleka was a little bit more open about news regarding their item range. There is nothing about it in the newsletter. I had no idea they threw the RP80 onto the discontinued pile until you mentioned it.
Sad.
Yeah, I wonder what they will do with it?
@@RedBranchBushcraft It would be nice if they did a newer version, but I doubt they would put the old model on 'discontinued' before announcing a new model.
More likely the production costs have risen so much, and the overal sales volume is so small, that it is not worth keeping it in anymore. The Savotta XL is so similar that it probably fills the demand just fine.
Likewise I'm also curious about what happened to the windproof trousers, the raw denim jeans, and of course the merino polo shirt.
Not tree trees ...🤣😅🤣😅🤣
Lol
