Another great video! I definitely think you made the right decision leaving the first one as a freeform, and that second stone that you cutt to the setting is unreal!

thank you Will probably too good for the setting even though the setting is solid gold not sure about the little lab grown diamond . The stone deserves a ripper setting as it is finished well and really bright with great pattern of all colours.

All the Opals are so beautiful. The necklace is so pretty. You did a great job cutting it. I don't think the shell would have been better, but it's still gorgeous...

I have seen opal fire in some magnificent pieces, but that shell is amazing! MUST be old stock a lot of the pieces I've seen recently don't have that fire, at least not the larger pieces, although a close friend and kind of a mentor got a black Opal with Fire that never quits, and it looks like black glass definitely grade 5 for fire and full of bright blues and reds but the grade is N1 he got it from an old jeweler's estate sale with some spectacular old pieces of equipment but the opal was the only real piece of stone that was worth buying except for one or two pieces of golden topaz he found deep in with the hand tools. I looked at the equipment he bought, and it looks like the Family that sold the lot had kept it for a long time perhaps a child of the Jeweler because all of it looked to be from the 1920s or 1930s. Perhaps was unable to survive the Great depression and the child hung onto the entire lot as memory of the man. This is all just my imagination but there is a significant Gap from the age of the equipment and stock from then 'til now, so I wager I'm not too far off. perhaps even a spouse or something that a child inherited after the mother passed. Either way I have never seen such fire from a Black opal with hardly any green in it just blue and Reds/oranges. I was and am still so jealous of that piece! I told my Friend that he should have the tools restored to like-New condition and then mount them in a Cabinet, and he said that was what he was going to do. Honestly with that Black Opal of his, I'm Glad it is His and not mine because I wouldn't trust myself with it, it's too fine a piece for me to work with, I'm afraid I'd ruin it, I like working with gemstones like Corundum, aquamarine and topaz. Actually my Topaz and pieces are quite popular in my neck of the woods so I'm quite happy with that. Oh, btw, definitely Green Wax, all the way, never had a complaint with it.

thanks for your time here. i am collecting interesting comments for a give away you re definitely in the next one. Would love to see a photo or a short vid of that black opal. Not sure where that shell piece is from but a lot oof my wholesale opal i buy is old stock from trusted sources retired old timers. Green wax thanks for letting us know. its probably both imagination with some intuition :)

I just use uv resin on a wooden dop stick, when it's time to come off ,a few minutes in the freezer with a water soaked little bit of napkin,it comes of reasonably easy, and the resin on the back just scrapes off with a nail

You'll find that other piece later, just clean up your shop, use the broom and sweep up a lot and use a torch at the floor level and shine it from the side and you'll find it no problem, it's not like it will pack up it's bags a leave to parts unknown. it's still in your shop mate, just put a torch on the floor and look like someone obsessed.
