I built this circuit to try it. It does work and it sounds pretty good. However, with a 1k bias resistor at 14Volts, a transistor with an hfe of 30 will send about 400mA DC through the speaker coil! There are better ways to drive speakers.

D718 has a maximum 80 watt collector dissipation (with maximum collector current 8Amp) and as shown in a video 12 volt wall PS is a limiting factor. My guess that wall wort is rated at 12 volts @2 Amps. Assuming equivalent split between left and right we can expect DC input power of 12 watts per channel. For class AB biased transistor operation that offers a compromise between signal-to-noise (SNR), low THD+N, we can expect up to 65% efficiency. As shown, probably around 7W of audio during bass passages is being kinda generous estimate. A schematic should have been shown at the beginning of the video.
7w max yes if between is max too. According to this arrangement, the level between is the headphone output so this is not the case. which I think power output for sound / speaker is very small around 1 w.

Why would anyone do this? This is class A amplifier, this is only used for transistor preamplifiers. The efficiency is poor and you have a large current thru the speaker in idle. Not knowing the actual current thru the speaker can burn it easily. Also the membrane is not in its ideal position in idle. Buy some $2 D class amps on net and you'll be fine.
Of course right. But why would anyone would do this? Because it is fun. What I don't really understand is, why is the placement of the cone Not ideal? And why is there any current in the speaker in idle?. No voltage, no current. Don't mix up the quiescent current (DC(!)) which is blocked by the decoupling cap, with the AC current of the audio source, which is driving the speaker. So in idle state there is no current in the speaker coil. Edit: I am sorry, I wrote my comment before the end of the video. It is this cheapo amp version without decoupling caps in the output and the plus lead of the supply directly at the speaker

I totally agree, it is a fun project for hobby and learning, maybe even useful if you urgently need something and don't have many parts. Good thing is, that almost anyone with a soldering iron amd some scrap parts can make something useful and learn on the way. But for real use... No.
Very nice projects that you do, I would love to try them some time. Although I would like to add that SAFETY construction is lacking in your projects.....Amplifiers get hot, poor soldering connections can become loose very easy in your projects, there are no fuses that I saw in this particular project. On point to point electronic construction soldering must be strong and reliable. Flying all the electronics on your projects looks nice and neat but it's extremely dangerous and unsafe. Your projects are great for practicing and learning electronics but I wouldn't put them to use like a regular peace of electronic devices. I think you should add schematics and a possible explanation of how the amp works. Thanks you for your videos, I will continue watching them and see if I see something that I would really want to build.

good amplifier I did cooler is getting very hot. I run it with 12 volt electricity. I used condenser 470uf / 25v instead of 474uf / 16v nice sound, I am an amateur amphitheater. I do it at my home. Thanks for the good sharing. I would appreciate if you could write the error.
It heats up because this is a simple class A amplifier they waste a lot of energy. Also this one doesn't have a capacitor on output to remove DC offset so it might burn your speakers.

I'm still learning so forgive the question if it seems stupid, but what is that paper stuff you put between the transistor and the heat sink? I have pretty much all that stuff from things I've scrapped, but not that. I don't have those exact transistors, but I'm gonna look them up and see if I have anything close enough. you can make it a regular transformer with matching impedance to speakers. It will protect speakers in no signal condition but that takes some maths which I guess this person is not good.
Useless circuit; It is a class A amplifier, which outputs dc to the speaker (roughly half the input voltage.) DC into speaker damages it. Use a class AB design instead for power drivers. The class A is useful only in small signal amplifier (pre-amplifier, or tone controls etc.)
@Chuck Holmes Actually you can run from a single rail, with the mid-point voltage at output, so for a 12V supply that would be 6V. The tricks to this are that the input is biased [small DC voltage/current applied] to produce the mid-point output, AND the output is passed through a decoupling capacitor to remove DC (Positive on AMP output, negative side of cap feeds speaker) Neat little tricks like that make things interesting, since you get to choose between split and single rail supplies! The main reason split supplies are used is to remove the bulky output filter (often 2.2mF!) and remove the need for DC biasing, but mostly from safety and component value perspective; to limit the supply voltage; with plus and minus 50V one can does not have to worry about the hazards of a single 100V rail (and the even bigger capacitors that come with it!) Therefore, single rail is best for battery-operation without the involvement of any switching supplies...

Your speakers burning up is also a saftey concern because they are given straight 12 VDC through them.

you will have dc voltage at speakers .that mean in any fault you can burn your speaker.
The idle current of the transistors runs trough the speakers!

@@tahirtekbcak4249 I'd suggest getting some TDA chip. Integraded class AB or D amlifier. You can often buy them soldered and ready to go.

Those paper pads are used for isolating transistors from the aluminum heatsink. They should be electric insulation but good thermal conduction.
