Sthetix = world's BEST chip man! 👍👍👍
You are incredible!
Greetings from Germany!
thank you
I agree the best tutorial no segway
Was just looking for a video on replacing an EMMC chip, and now I know how to mod my Nintendo! First, I’ll actually get around to replacing the chip on my laptop.
I freaking love you man. you are the best. beautiful clean precise work. love and respect from Germany.
thank you

Hi from the UK I have a massive problem please help I need to refresh or reset a bga IC chip can you assist I want to wipe its memory so I can reuse it and if there's a way if performing this action without dissambly I would greatly appreciate it if you can answer this for me I will happily pay you £50 many thanks friend
you can just short the pins to reset the modchip
@@sthetixofficial whats a mod chip
Thank you very much for this video. I'm dummy in eMMC and I got comprehensive infrmation about everything I need.
You are welcome!
this is genius level work .. wow
thank you
👏👏👏👏👏excelente video ingeniero muchas gracias, saludos desde PERÚ 🇵🇪.
you are welcome
its nice to watch, its so relaxing 😎
Thank you
Fantastic work, as always. I just need to find the supplies you used to reball the EMMC. I found the stencil, just looking for the stand.
but tbh id just put down some paper towel , lay the stencil on top and do it by hand
That was nutty. Never seen a dat0 extension done that way.
because why would anyone risk taking off the chip just for that. but if you already have the chip off, then why not use the more solid one?
This is nuts! Good kind of nuts! 😆
Keren..baru liat channel ini 👍
Awesome work!!! Question: if it's possible to do all of that, then wouldn't it be possible to edit the data inside the chip to essentially put hekate/atmosphere in eMMC itself and avoid needing the entire mod chip altoghether?
not possible. it needs a modchip
unchipped switch would probably refuse to boot something unsigned
A part of the boot up procedure of the CPU is that it checks the integrity of the software it is loading, the mod chip both tricks the CPU into loading the wrong boot file from your SD card AND glitches the CPU startup to skip over check
🥰you are so good
Hello there, why when you test the DAT0 point refer to 0.8V in which set do you put the multimeter and between which points you test the probe? thanks.
Fantastic....one question... is that possible to do the same procedure that you have done on dat 0 with the clk and cmd points on a switch lite? Using the points on emmc to jump to picofly....acidently i destroied the pads of the mother board
u can
It is possible to use the system of another console to finish the image that is needed, greetings
Hi, love your work and I recently accomplished this procedure on one of my OLEDs. You've mentioned that you can use magnet wire instead of the solder lugs. Do you know how thick that wire should be? I've used one with 0,1mm diameter and I've had a lot of trouble soldering the eMMC back on. I wonder if using 0,04mm diameter would have been better
hi, the 0.04mm will be fine.
Ty its so easy with the right Equipment.
I will get the Reader/Writer device and try it by myself. Seems easy
Thsnks!
Hello, thanks for all your videos, and the HATS pack, everytime I do a modchip install, I use it... Just a question, what is the app that you use to calculate the time of the hot air? It would be very useful for me.
That is not a calculator, it is just a timer . It is called the Interval Timer, made by Julia Hollitsch . It is on the Play Store
@@sthetixofficial thanks, I knew it was not a calculator, I just did not know what to call it.
Okay so you can find either emmc chip on the OLED model, are there specific regions that use only Samsung or is it some kind of lottery?
Either samsung or hynix is fine.. It only affects the installer not the end user
And we cannot check if the console uses a. Specific brand. Unless we disassemble it
nice video thx
Thank you
Hello friend, congratulations on a job well done, I'm trying to fix a multimedia that runs android system in which the defect is the emmc with corrupted data, I confirmed this by replacing the emmc with one from a working device, the device turned on normally, but when I make a clone of the good emmc and fix it in place, then the device does not boot, only the initial logo appears, could you help me to find out what I am doing wrong? thanks.
sorry i dont know about it. you need to ask xda dev to find it out
@@sthetixofficial ok, thanks to return...
another great video. Do you have a link to the jig you use? thanks
What jig? Thx
The emmc stencil? It is amaoe.emmc stencil, you can find it on aliexpress
@@sthetixofficial Yes thats the one, thanks
Nice work. Very clean and neat. Isnt 360C too much for the EMMC? I will be doing a 0DATA permanant mod and I'm afraid to go this hot.
360 is about 200 on my hot air rework station
The problem is when you have less heat you may risk your other components because it will take you longer to melt the solder.
I think someone on youtube already tested this, the less time you spend the least damage incurs.
@@sthetixofficial In your Dat0 guide you heated the chip to 260 degrees. How much is that roughly? And how do you know that the temperature is so different.
about 200c, but i found that heating the dat0 is not an ultimate way to solve the issue. the emmc ball could break in half someday. the safest way is to just slip the dat0 without heating it but use the four anchors version.
@@sthetixofficial I only found the adapter with 4 point anchors on aliexpress. And unfortunately it's not available in my region. Is there an alternative?
Hello, what is the app you are using to guide yourself when you are soldering/desoldering the eMMCs ? Thanks !
I used a digital microscope and premier pro
@@sthetixofficial Thank you for your reply ! I meant the Android app where the temperature and the timer (to guide you while using the hot air gun) was displayed, if you have the android app name it would be nice, thanks :)
I forgot the app. It is just a simple timer app on the play store
@@sthetixofficial thanks !
Can you give me a link for the full bga kit you showed in your part list with correct stencil for the switch OLED eMMC?
it is the amaoe emmc reballing kit.. available on aliexpress
i have a same looking reballing kit from aliexpress like you with magnets and holder.
I have the problem that the stencil plate is going up after heating.
After the procedure i dont have perfect balls but much balls sold together :(
you have maybe a tipp?
lel, ok now it looks good, at the 4. try the stencil was in the middle perfect and not going up. looks good hehe
For the V1 and V2 models, are there like higher capacity NAND modules like at least 64GB or 128GB?
no it does not.
AMAZING!do you think i can do the same for a BGA100 ? i got an SSD with one BGA chip cant be readed! ....therefore i cannot access any sector
maybe you can try doing that
Do consoles which get the emmc replaced this way still have access to official nintendo services without being banned?
yes as long as the console is not banned previously.
HI Very good work , the Amaoe eMMC BGA Stencil is with 0.15mm balls is it ok ? or should it be a 0.3mm stencil?
just use the amaoe stencil, it should be fine.
Thanks !
So here I tried out of curiosity and to know if it was possible to dump a nand oled soldered on the pcb of a V1 switch with Hekate, it works, it lasts 4 hours lol, it's 1 hour in less than with the ufi box for those who don't have one and therefore for much less 😅
on the other hand with NxNandManager it did not work 🤷
a very interesting video that gave me the idea
Thank you Sthetix
next test with mmcblkNX adapter..
if I have time
We can dump the nand with the nxnandmanager, using the usb tool box. It took about 45 minutes to dump the whole nand.
@@sthetixofficial I tried with NxNandManager but when I wanted to select the BOOT0 drive I had an error message and therefore impossible to dump the partition, same thing with BOOT1
I may have made a mistake because you obviously succeeded
Dump the boot0 boot1 using hekate backup menu. Dump the rawnand using the hekate usb tool
@@sthetixofficial thanks for the solution
I hadn't thought like that
next time i will try
So are you saying that you took a v1 emmc module, took off the original emmc, resoldered the OLED emmc, and dumped that one?
Hello name application doe you use in vidéo for température cycles ? Thanks friends
it is just a timer, interval timer . it runs on android.
Hello, greetings, excellent video, my comment is about how to rebuild the memory since mine is damaged, I could not obtain the user area partition, specifically the system, I could only read 512mb
please do the level2 unbrick guide.
Is there a way to know which switch ships with samsung and which one ships with SK HYNIX? I would like to end up with one that has the samsung EMMC
no we cannot determine it.
Any reason why you took down your video for rebuilding a corrupt nand? Was there any issues with it or is it still good to follow? Thanks
It is there bro
The video title is unbrick
Can this tool recover data from Chromebook or EMMC laptop memory?
any emmc as long as it is healty enough to dump the data
Sthetix i have a question..... i have taken an EMMC backup with Hekate.... now the EMMC chip is bad and I cannot flash it with Hekate (I have done it once worked for some time and again became corrupt) it gives me error "EMMC SLOW MODE" and it cannot write the backup back to it... if i replace the Hynix with a Samsung one can i use Hekate to write the image back? Thank you!
you can.
So overall you mean that, if we are replacing new EMMC IC with older "DEAD" EMMC IC chip, and copy paste our all data, into old to new EMMC IC, then we are get back our all data without loosing any single files, like photo, video, bookmarks, open tab in the browsers, search history, coockies, save passwords, device's settings etc. ??
You can copy the eMMC content and move it to a replacement IC and your data will be intact.
would this work for upgrading windows tablet EMMCs as well? Or could i just leave it blank and install windows the traditional way after installation?
I think u can but we don't know how to resize the partitions later
Hello!
Can I do this service using the RT809h recorder?
Yes you can try using that tool too.
Apart from for installing modchips, what is the advantage of switching to a Samsung chip?
It last longer than SK
doesn't randomly corrupt on your ass
Clean work. If eMMC is damaged, will I get a reading on Multimeter? 0.5-0.8v? After installing Picoflly, it won't boot. it gives a light indication that eMMC is failed but I get 0.6v on the Multmeter?
i dont support picofly. even if the emmc damaged, you still get the reading.
@@sthetixofficial Thanks. Is there any pad I could measure to tell me if eMMC is intact? Or is removing it the only way?
did u reflow the emmc?
@@sthetixofficial Yes. The adaptor is fixed in place pretty good.I gradually heated the chip, 150C, 250C,350C. One minute each.
@@sthetixofficial please let me know
What should I do to avoid this issue. I'm about to install a chip next week 😢
just don't reflow the chip
You are in another planet from that work. Can i ask about ufi box i want to order too Greece it will work with the program? The program need pay per month? Because is expensive can you send me a link where to buy from safe? And last can ufi box data recovery from dead phone?
actually there are many emmc reader and writer out there. the UFI is not a subscription type, once you buy it, it will work forever. You can recover the data only if the emmc chip is healthy enough or not 100% dead. i bought it locally but you can buy it on aliexpress.
My question may sound stupid, but if I buy an additional 32GB memory module for Switch V2 (original /OEM on AliExpress) then can I simply restore my NAND backup using Hetake instead of doing these so I can have a clone of my eMMC which can be replaced just by unplugging and plugging back. Thanks!
you can restore it by using Hekate - if you already have the nand backup
Thank you! Have a wonderful day! :)
fucking nice video, thaks from Brasil
can you see the photos on computer when you copy that i mean you have the acces to photos n videos ?
I don't know what u mean by that
❤❤❤❤
Hi Sthetix, nice work. Just wondering if the SK hynix nand is the only brand that works with picofly/hwfly?
no, currently all kind of eMMC brand are supported.
@@sthetixofficial are all the nands bga153? or just the oled?
yes 153, all of them (for switch)
@@sthetixofficial Last question, can I use VFBGA package instead of a TFBGA?? I think its just a height difference
any 153 balls eMMC should work. but i think you better use Samsung brand as it is the best, fastest.
If I have a backup of nand memory, and the console suddenly crashed (nand died suddenly). Will I need a programmer to flash a new empty nand flash, or can I just upload my backup to the console directly through hekate after I install the memory on the board?
you can upload the backup to a new emmc chip, but i dont think you can do it using hekate. you must use a hardware programmer.
@@sthetixofficial Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I don't have a programmer. And given its cost, I can't afford it.
Can I use an inexpensive eMMC to SD adapter instead of the UFI Box? The UFI is expensive...
I think u can
Is UFI BOX can resize partitions, to easier replacing eMMC on 256Gb? I'm watched your video «Installing the 256GB Nintendo Switch eMMC module» and i'm think it's to old for now.
yes you can.
@@sthetixofficial can we wait updated video about increasing memory? 😉
I will make a new guide later
Thank you but that tool is very expensive. Is there any other way to clone or transfer the data to the other emmc. Can it be done the same way of installing higher capacity emmc the way you did one before?
you can transfer in hekate. backup and then restore. just do backup before heating chip
well, there are other emmc reader and writer and the price varies. If you do a lot of modding, you need this tool and see it as an investment.
and we can use a higher capacity emmc, stay tuned for the upcoming video
@@serg9448And if, for example, I kill the eMCC by reflow, having the backup copy, what next steps should I do for the console to work?
@@user-xu7js6wu6d in backup folder create restore folder, move all files there and restore in hekate
Bro ise ufi lite that comes with ufi box kit that is used for reading user data that 5 hours cut down to about 30 min to 50min
it depends on the settings too.
Are you able to do this and swap over a bigger emmc chip say 256GB?
you can but you need linux stuff for expanding the user partition later.
is it possible to do this manipulation with the t48 or t56 programmer?
would it be faster with the 2 programs I mentioned?
I am sorry i dont know what they are.But I have the RT809H and it is not capable of reading the Hynix chip.
@@sthetixofficial thank you for your reply
and thank you for your unforgettable sharing of information
good job
you are welcome
fantisc work, to me after reflowing the dat0 point the switch wont boot, with this ufi tool i can read the skhynix chip, even the switch not turning on ofw
It's obvious you killed your eMMC. Even if the chip is readable using a tool, it doesn't mean it's 100% functional.
Stethix said in the comments that 360 degrees was not the temperature and that it was really 200 degrees that his hot gun threw 🤣 that's why the chip didn't die, but the other people who wanted to try by having different seasons ended up throwing more heat. Really , the heat also depends on how close or far they are pointing, but it seemed strange to me that it even said that using 400 degrees with SKHYNIX was crazy 🤣
do u need the ufi box? u cant just make a hekate backup, replace eemc, and restore backup?
ufi is to dump a rather damaged nand

Hi Sthetix ,after I reballing emmu and fly wire inside (likes sandwich) I get error code while playing. 2002-3538. Is that got problem with my emmc chip or I need to tear down and reflow again ?

Could this be done by creating an emuMMC of the OFW then using hekate to write the OFW to the new sysMMC?
you can but why you want to dump the emummc and transfer it to the emmc?
@@sthetixofficial I was thinking of upgrading the eMMC and was wondering if it was possible without a UFI box since they're pretty expensive. For someone who doesn't really do a lot of hardware mods, it's a steep price for something that might only get a single use.

u can but u need to adjust the user partition later. not easy to do
I guess it would be the same if I replace and increase the memory of my S22 Ultra. That's what I'm looking for
that is not simple on the mobile phone, because the S22 ultra uses a UFS NAND flash chip, the UFS programmers are very expensive but if you have the programmer and the skills to BGA solder than the upgrade will be a success.

Why didn't you use a $5 multimeter with leads to measure the heat emitted by the heat gun at some distance to tell people who watched this video the temperature closest to the actual heat the chip is actually receiving, because you said in the comments that 360 degrees is a real 200 degrees in your heat station, that's why many people killed their EMMCC because they pulled 360° and then 400° following your values 🤣 I did tests and the can with Nintendo factory flux melts between 360° and 380° and in that you are right, it is not good to heat at that temperature but in Mexico there is a repair channel that adds tin to the dat0 pin and then slides it so that it touches the point under the emmc, precisely with flux , and throws heat in a straight line at 260 degrees in its actual station but can be between 200° - 240° and ds enough to reach the melting point of tin and the point joins in 20 seconds, without the need to reheat the entire chip giving it 1 minute and another minute, he has mentioned that he has not had problems with his clients in these 2 and a half years due to breakage of the solder balls, and he continues to do that method
Each hot air rework station is different and YES, you or the viewers need to use their own thermometer to check the temperature (not multimeter) of the board when heated. I know the actual heat needs to be 225c, but in my case I need to crank my station to 400 to reach that.
