In today's video, I share my thoughts on/the lessons I've learned from the world of self improvement, speaking specifically about my favourite self help book, The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale.
    Recipe:
    225ml water
    75 butter
    96g plain flour
    3 eggs, beaten
    600ml double cream
    2 tbsp freeze dried raspberries
    400g icing sugar
    pink food colouring paste
    100g white chocolate
    Preheat oven to 180 (fan).
Put butter/water in pan, bring slowly to the boil.
Tip in flour, remove from heat, stir vigorously.
When smooth paste develops, return pan to the heat, stirring.
Mixture will dry out a little and form a soft ball that comes away from sides of the pan.
Remove pan from heat, let cool slightly, gradually add eggs (might not need all!), beating well until mixture is smooth/glossy.
Spoon mixture into piping bag. Sprinkle baking sheet with water and pipe mixture.
Bake for 10 mins, then reduce heat to 170 and bake for further 20 mins.
Cut éclairs in half, transfer to a wire rack to cook completely.
Once éclairs have cooled, whip cream to soft peaks, add raspberries/blob of jam, pipe into eclairs.
Add icing sugar to bowl, add enough water to make a stiff icing. Add food coloring then pipe onto eclairs. Melt the chocolate drops then drizzle in zig zag pattern.

Sometimes if you take a mat or blanket that your cat uses and rub it around the skirting boards and some of the furniture it can help them feel more at home and settle in. Something to do with their scent being on everything. It might help as I imagine she is finding it all a bit strange for now.

@@GG-wc3nx @Patchy so true! I have used these a couple of times with our sweet little cat and it really helps! Plug it in about 24h before you would 'move' miss Junior and leave it for a couple of days. And as previously stated: a lot of toys and blankets with her smell, even a used litterbox will help. It's normal she'll yell for a couple of days, it's their way of getting to know the new place. (also: those baked goods look amazing!! )

Thank you George. It helped me tremendously that you said that sometimes things happen that are out of our control. Especially here in the states there is this constant pushing blame on people who are suffering in any way.
It’s their mindset. It’s their thoughts - they should not have negative thoughts. All you have to do is think differently and your problems will all go away! Stop choosing wrong!
It is exhausting and leads to loss of hope, self esteem, self worth, confidence - the more you try to think yourself “better”, the worse you feel….
Thanks for throwing out a life raft for people.

The most useful book I ever had was Katherine Whithorne's "Cooking in a bedsitter". For several years I had only a single electric ring, and she showed how one could produce a delicious three-course dinner with this and a single saucepan. I still use some of her recipes, though I now have a four-ring hob, electric oven and grill.

What a wonderful topic! And I have a feeling that your parents were double dipping when they listened to the audio on long trips. They enjoyed it and were introducing you boys to some great life skills and attitudes early enough for it to become a foundation you grew up on! And look at you! A high achiever building multiple streams of income from home.
I had my own business for twenty years and I also read many business books and motivational books, as well. As I grew my business, I became successful enough that I became the motivational speaker, basically telling people that if little ole me could do it, they could, too. And I really believed it and saw so many other women get to work from home and raise their children. They were a wonderful twenty years, being able to support my family and encouraging others that they could, too.
I really believe the same way the author you shared with us did. That success is determined by each individual, and that it's worth the hard work to achieve your goals! Thank you for sharing. It really is a great topic! God bless!

I’m sorry Junior isn’t finding it easy adapting to her new home. One of my cats has always taken a while to get used to any new place I’ve moved to. But she does eventually come round and go back to her usual self. If you haven’t already, you could try introducing Junior to one room at a time, setting up a safe place for her with everything she needs in one area until she gets used to that room and then gradually letting her into more rooms. Thank you for another interesting and relaxing video. Your baking looked delicious!

Once again, very insightful, George. I listened to a UA-cam recording of this record whilst I was working out on the stepper. It's too hard to keep my earbuds in when I'm cage fighting. 😂 I especially appreciate your comment that "not everyone starts from the same place" and that "sometimes horrible things happen to people". If you look at generations, my parents being from the silent generation, were born during the Great Depression, grew up during WWII, and entered the work world during the prosperous 50s. But they never forgot those horrible times of uncertainty that set the stage for them always being frugal and worried about the next market crash or World War. That affected the mindset of their children. We grew up in the lower, middle-class where we learned to work hard and please our employer. I didn't have the mindset of wealth even though I eventually became the only college-educated member of the family and started my own business 20 years ago. It's not a highly successful business because my mindset has never been in the realm of wealth but just living comfortably. I'm happy and feel successful in that. You are very fortunate to have been raised by parents who listened to this cassette tape and encouraged you to follow it's tenets.

Hey George, those eclairs look so sweet with all the filling and icing! I would love some with some back coffee. I like reading, but it takes me forever to read a good amount because I'm a very slow reader. You're becoming quite the deep thinker. Enjoying your life and being healthy and happy go a long way to having a fulfilling and prosperous life.🎉❤😊

Hi George, lovely catching up on all your videos. If it hasn’t been suggested already, as a frequent mover with multiple cats, the plugins like feliway can really help calm them, also some dark soft cocoons for them to feel safe in, like a nice little, fluffy cat igloo and also when you are there, just sit still as much as possible to encourage calm and not that you’re on the move and a good routine of feeding etc. Anyway, I love giving out unsolicited cat advice to strangers on the internet, but I love all your videos and I love cats, so that makes you a friend in my books. Keep up the great vids ✌🏼

If your goal is to drive me crazy with tantalizing images of something that looks super delicious, you've succeeded! Well, here in Marquette we have a wonderful pastry shop, in fact two, I think I'll settle for a trip there as soon as it warms up! Don't worry, Junior will come around, very few cats react well to new surroundings right off the bat. Give her time, she'll settle right in eventually.

Thanks for this lovely video George, always a delight to hear your thoughts. In regards to Junior being upset about the new place, you could try a cat Pheromone Diffuser - something like Feliway which can help mimic cat pheromones to calm their nerves. Good luck with Junior, I'm sure she'll come around to the new place.

JellyJelly is made from jelly crystals and boiling water. It's eaten as a dessert with ice cream. Jam is made from fruit and has fruit pieces in it, made in a suacepan stirring the mix over heat. It's eaten on toast for brekkie. Marmalade is a type of jam, would love to see George making marmalade.

Maybe Junior needs some special, catnip-dusted cat trees, beds, catnip scented boxes with a towel in them, lots for fresh catnip in the yard etc. to feel more interested in the new home. Make sure that she gets treats when she comes over, and she may start to have positive associations with the home. The speakers and turn table "sound" excellent - usually I'm wary of the ads that UA-camrs are paid to do, having bought some sheets that turned out to be badly made of synthetic fabric (I'm more of a 100% natural fiber shopper, when possible).
But the Marley turn table and speakers sound like a well-made, good invention. What was the flavor of those eclairs? They look like maybe raspberry or rose - how did they turn out? And thanks for the information about the The Strangest Secret. It's funny that people will take something obvious and when it's described as a secret, they are intrigued. Whereas if you called it "The Most Obvious Thing", maybe the allure would be nonexistent : ))

Great video, food for thought and food in general. I have a beat up paperback of How to be your own best friend by Mildred Newman & Bernard Berkowitz 1971. It's a slim book and a fast read but for me it's a great pick me up after a day of life slings and arrows. Junior and her 10 gallon hat is also a great pick me up.

Love your channel George. Been a fan of personal growth books, tapes and vids all my life and I believe it has served me well. So if you enjoyed Earl Nightingale, I have to recommend you check out another early American guru Jim Rohn. And I have to add a couple of inspirational books that are classics and the early front runners for the whole Personal Development movement - Thought Forces by Prentice Mulford, and In Tune with the Infinite by Ralph Waldo Trine, first published in 1910 yet it feels like it was written just for you, now!

    My thoughts? Life is hard.
I'm just going with the flow, doing what I can to make progress toward my goals. Doing what I can varies from day to day and I'm still working on being fine with that. Expectations push you up and put you down.
As always, this is a great video. Éclairs look so yummy 😋 I might consider making them.
