If you want to save money, I would suggest that you not put so much barley in each tray. a thin, layer even spread across the bottom will be great. you have too many seeds competing, some never get to sprout. about the thickness of a screwdriver bit, spread across the bottom. I have rabbits and chickens so I wanted to see if your rabbits liked it. thanks!
By the way, since the quail need to have a high protein diet, I would suggest growing comfrey to supplement their feed since it is very high in protein as well as some type of larvae like Black Soldier Fly. I grow Booking 14 and Bocking 4 since these varieties are not invasive. I bought them from here: www.coescomfrey.com/comfrey.html Mine also get kitchen scraps. I hope this helps.
I think you have wayyyyyyyy too much barley and probably are giving it too much water too. Half inch of barley spread at the bottom of your tray and just water it with a spray bottle as needed
How do you estimate the right measurements of sprouts to give them per rabbit per day, so you don't waste food and still also get the right amount? Its hard to know after you are doing this how much feed I'm actually giving them.
How do you water the individual containers? I mean, do you water each one a set amount and let it drain as it needs to, or do you only water the top ones and let the water pass through to ones below?
I have a question Can I totally rely on wheat or barley grass as rabbit feed instead of other feed source. If so then how many grams of grass an adult rabbit need in a day.
Hi Bryan, if I feed my rabbits hay, barley fodder and supplement with occasional dried leaves etc will that be the right nutrients required for my rabbits ?
Do you guys feed just fodder and hay? If so is the figure of 2 pounds per six pound rabbit per day an accurate figure ? Here in New Zealand Pellets are very expensive. I'm looking for a way to feed our rabbits without pellets
Why don't you keep it growing in the pan a just cut the tops out of it like you are mowing the grass , it stays growing as long as it is watered and you don't have to buy another bag of seed , start it earlier that way by the time it comes ready to eat it will long and ready to cut , it should work , I'm doing the same thing with Timothy grass and don't forget wild honeysuckle vines ,it grows quick and they eat vine and all
Its great as treats but I wouldn't just feed that. Rabbits and farm animals in general gain wieght on dry food. Microgreens are like 80% water. So be sure to do dry pellets as well.
Seed dormancy is an evolutionary adaptation that prevents seeds from germinating during unsuitable ecological conditions that would typically lead to a low probability of seedling survival.
When grain is dried at high temperatures after harvest it will not germinate anymore. If you by barley that is for brewing beer it will germinate at a high rate but is expensive. I have bought many bags of barley that is supposed to feed livestock and it grew well enough, but I live in Austria and the procedures may be different here. 30Kg barley cost 10€ here, and if it won‘t germinate i just feed it as a grain with no loss.
Sprouts are more digestible. Ends up being more efficient, plus some biology goes on that makes more good stuff available than if you just fed the seeds.
This is GREAT! When I fed my rabbits the wheat berry fodder, they LOVED IT! Thanks for sharing.
One of the most informative fodder videos I’ve watched, great video! Thanks!
This was a great video with great ideas! Thank you.
Very smart idea man, God bless you great video wow
Liked & subbed😎
I would say use less seeds, looks to compacted.

Since its one kg makes 5kgs each try needs quarter of berley

Do you still need holes drilled in the containers?
I do wheat, only enough to cover the bottom of the tray, grows great

hi sir.. how often you water it in a day? and do you use a treated/chlorinated water?
How do you water the individual containers? I mean, do you water each one a set amount and let it drain as it needs to, or do you only water the top ones and let the water pass through to ones below?
We just watered the top one and let it drain down.
you should add fenugreek they are leguminous and high protein content.
How many rabbits are you feeding? How many servings are you getting per tray? Thank you
Where are you getting your seed from, a box store or a farm. I checked out amazon, prices are ridiculous.
And how's this been working for you?
NJ Homestead you need to go to a feed store. if they don't have it they usually can get it

What breed of rabbits are they very nice
what is the name of this barley ?
How much fodder do you provide per rabbit? I want to replace most of my feed cost with fodder.
2 lbs for 6 lb rabbit a day

I've been thinking about this, have you tried it and it works with barley? I was thinking could make the seed go twice as far

The pellets also provide salt and minerals.
Where do you get your grain?
If you're looking for more nutritional details and information on fodder, check out www.fodderworks.net.
do you use simple tap water, or mineralized one ?
Inframundo AZ tap water
7 years later, do you still do fodder? If not why? If so any problems with mold?
I dont do fodder anymore. went to a free range rabbit setup.
If you want to avoid loosing rabbits to infected feet you should really avoid wire cage bottoms
I just moved to nc u know were i can get barley seeds
I would call around to you local feed store
Where do buy the shelving at?
Parrot Bill I've see those at Home Depot and other stores
Do you need to water this system daily
Yes
That’s a lot for one rabbit !
how much fodder do rabbits eat per day?
pl855p they can't be fed just on fodder though, you need to give them also some pellets.
Blackwood -Formerly SongsAndSigns- true.
The 4th,5th,6th,7,day no water?no sunlight can be done inside buildings?
What the hell is a 'seedable' grain. New one to me

What's the purpose of sprouting them if they have no soil to grow in? All the nutrients are coming from the seeds, so why not just grind up the seeds?
Sprouts are more digestible. Ends up being more efficient, plus some biology goes on that makes more good stuff available than if you just fed the seeds.
There's an additive called bio-mos that can be added to dry feed to make it more digestible. Overall way more cost effective.
I want to say you are using way too much seed from the looks of it.
stop caging animals
happydeb setinstone and that would solve?
your conscious. would you like to be caged in box ?
well said, standing on wire mesh all day too...I don't understand how anyone can not think about the happiness of the animals they keep.
hes going to eat them...
Hannah Lavrih you are absolutely correct think of the coyotes and foxes. They need to live also. Nice fat rabbit would definitely hit the spot.
