This interview reminds me of Vybz Kartel’s last big interview with Winford Williams, where he often times unintentionally became the interviewer. A lot of valid points were made from both individuals and I don’t regret tuning in. I’m looking forward to hearing more from and about Joey Lyric, he is persuasive and erudite. Big Up Dale 👏🏾
Ive had the opportunity of getting to know and watch Joseph grow up. He is as kind as he is intelligent and i know for a fact he will succeed in life. The sky is the limit! And i wish him all the best.
He's right about reggae music and the way it is in Jamaica today. The reason why dancehall artiste have to be putting music out everyday is because dance hall has no substance today so two play and people tired if it. Dancehall music a just vybz today and that's sad because it used to be both.
"Authentic reggae" is a life style that requires discipline. The youths in the inner city life style is one of over indulgence , dancehall is the rebellion against reggae. To write authentic reggae and deliver it convincingly would be a challenge if the messenger themself can't relate.
This Interview Was Well Intelligent Full Of Knowledge And Factual Towards Whats Going On In The Music Industry...Both Dale And Joey HadValid Points And Cover All Aspects Of The Business And Shared Great Opinions On How To Make It Better...Keep Up The Good Work My Bro Joey, He's Like A Brother To Me Im From Woodford Park As Well So I Know Him For Years He Is Actually A Great Person With A Magnificent Personality And He Only Gonna Get Better To Greater Alot More Blessings Is On The Way Me Bredda Great Interview 👏👏🙏🙏🤞👊💯💯💯💯💯💯
Wwwwoooiieee...this was a pleasure watching😊😊 Joey is definitely a spectacular soul..hear the man ,..😁😁sooo passionate , confident and bold...everything makes sense!!! Big up yourself me g😌😌😌
Fantastic interview Joey, when you speak you make people listen. Very talented and humble producer, we need more people like you in the music industry 👍🏾
Well spoken Joey, Dale you need fi listen before you respond bredda. Half the points you were trying to prove was nothing close to the statements he was making. Reggae music, is for garrison ppl uptown ppl only started accepting reggae dancehall music from the popularity of Bob Marley and the impact it had on boosting our Jamaican economy.
Omi did that song while in JA i remember cause he did drops for me for radio play cause we were school mates the remix that went big was when he moved to the US, when th original was done he was still in JA
Joeyyyy ❤ He’s very passionate about music especially reggae music and I do agree with him (not bc he’s my friend) but we do lack sumn in reggae music rn Ps Dale has strong points too, really great interview.
Man ya full a big words eeeh loll................. Big words don't mean your intelligent and bright though! Fantastic interview nonetheless thanks a lot
1:23:51 dale, you miss the point of what he was getting at. He deserves his credit! The reason you can list out all those names of songwriters in the US industry is because they got their credit and it is well known in their circle who wrote what. Sn: perhaps the issue is one of contracts or the lack thereof. Jamaicans nuh really like put things in writing and sign off. Maybe a clause or two in the contract to list your name wherever the song goes whether on streaming services etc.
Di man just want to disagree with everything joey seh smh. It’s suh sad and shows who he is as a person. All now him nuh try learn something about music from someone who knows more.
Dale was so Annoying on this interview till mi don’t even think him funny no more… big up to Joey I need him to do a interview with someone who really knows about music because dale just want to disagree with everything Joey say. So annoying🙄 you can tell seh Joey knows a lot about music, dale wont even just listen and learn. SMH big up joey.
That's the point of an INTERVIEW, if Dale just agreed with everything he said then Joey was better off just talking to himself in front of a camera, devils advocate it name
Bob Marley, Luciano and Richie Spice do “Roots Reggae” putting there vocals Around the original sounds that were introduced as reggae music. Producers and beat makers are responsible for the modern sounding reggae nuh really di artiste
The youths in the ghetto not listening to them, its because of their livity as rasta in this time and Joey is right even promote said his music is Fusion of hip-hop and reggae
There is a reason why the youth arent being exposed to reggae music. Im caucasian born in america and you should ask yourself why the message reached to the middle of the us and never to the ghetto. I enjoy dancehall still but its very obvious that they dont want the conscious music to resonate. I love this reasoning. I agree that the reggae revival was the last group of promosing reggae youth. 30:47
think Joey a mix up the words traditional and authentic… not as much traditional reggae sounds a mek from Jamaican youths now but di new ting dem authentic in its own way
Joey was right about many stuff he knows alot about music in theory but need experience with the practical. He needs to know how to speak to his audience dawg a chat like him swallow dictionary & many ppl nah go understand. As dale says, guy too emotional & needs to out in more work. He said he's never written a hit/crossover why would an relatively established artist that's hot listen to writer that don't have a hit. Dawg mek wul heap a strong points as well, I agree with the formula talk, those older guys a bask in theor former glory not realizing everything have it time. R&B, Hip hop, reggae, EDM & dancehall. To how them hate new age dancehall, they would replicate their success with said formula and shame di younger dunce dem.
If yuh na seh a certain named artiste or do weh dem tell yuh fi do, di gate aguh shut down pon yuh. Alkaline come change dat… Dancehall is too divided and political… yuh can imagine if Alkaline and masicka Mek a chune together ? But we know we na see dat because of pride and ego. Big Up Joey Lyric 🙏🏾
Versatility is a good quality to have. for example Lyre-Music consists of an American & a Russian they write alotta Kpop Records, they can't even speak Korean but that versatility helps them to adapt
Him have a point. But it goes to building ur credibility. U have to go doctor when u want prescription or choose the best doctor in the city when u sick.
Dale love your contents bro but really stop listen to respond and really listen to overstand this man have a point... as a ghetto youth kybaka pyramid dem bad but dem just can't relate to me dem probably neva see a man get slap wey yet just like u said dem only can sing about what dem kno about which is injustice and equality but dem man deh nuh kno ntn bout the ghetto life so how dem ago relate to a man like me????
There's no such thing as "Authentic Reggae" see most ppl wouldn't even kno alotta Reggae music they listening Produced & Played on By Swedish & German yutes Jamaicans too so weh Authentic Reggae really mean?
@@DaleElliottTV a di same thing with Dancehall for example arguably Sksng's Biggest song Likkle Miss, That Beat made by a Jamaican 🇯🇲 & a 🇩🇪 German... But when u listen you woulda think yow this is strictly Jamaican authentic 😂 nope
@@DaleElliottTV The only consistency in Jamaican music to date is that all our music forms can be called Jamaican music. So, I agree with Dale on his use of the term to describe the music coming out of Jamaica. The fact is the new music needs a new name. Reggae, like dancehall, ska, dub, rocksteady, mento, and the like are simply genres within the Jamaican music space. Jamaica itself has already moved past reggae as the popular music of the ordinary youth, so what Joey is hankering for is simply nostalgia. Furthermore, his use of "authentic" is misguided, he would do well to read up on some of the contemporary work coming out of the UWI, Mona if he plans on being the "reggae" police.
My question about the "proper english" thing is what's so different between us and Africa? Burna Boy song Last Last is a global hit, and if you're not African you don't understand one shit in that song, there was no "standard english" used, it was straight Nigerian dialect, so why as Jamaicans we "need" to use standard english to get hits?
Reggae already international n easy consistency JA suppose to have full ownership over creation of the genres who ever started wa sound sedway Dancehall a challenge mun.
Dale, you need to go do some research and reading before you try to interview people who are well-informed. It sounds like the interviewee should be teaching you about music, instead of being interviewed by you. You appear to be out of your depth.
