      @@Goldrefinedthrufire I definitely agree with you that makes a lot of sense but in my opinion for my own observations I perceive a lot of Russian women to be extremely beautiful so I’m sure the artist still did exaggerations and tried to blend away imperfections, but it’s not shocking to me that a lot of them were painted as beautiful because I do think that a lot of them are very pretty inherently today.

    Thank you for doing this. This gives a second chance at life to women who lived a long time ago ... I grew up in Siberia, where the entire atmosphere was saturated with the relics of exiled nobility. This helps to peek into the era , remember through the history and art as if saying to all those who passed a long time ago - you are not forgotten. Looking at their faces makes me feel somewhat sad and nostalgic. Makes the past come to life once again, in vivid colors ...

    • @ik1408
      @ik1408 2 роки тому +18

      Thank you for pointing out that some of nobility of Russia were sent to Siberia. Many people do not know that. A grandfather of my great-grandfather belonged to Russian aristocracy and was sent from St. Petersburg to Siberia for his involvement with the Decembrist revolt. His children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, etc., including myself were born in Siberia. When I used to tell people in Central Russia and in the West that I was from Siberia, I did not realize they were automatically labelling me as a peasant from Siberian forests (even though I have advanced academic degrees). A little ignorance can go a long way, when unchecked.

      @darlingdear2687 2 роки тому +10

      @@ik1408"Many people do not know that." OMG, this is so true. Decembrist revolt had produced a LOT of exiles and subsequently brought tons of St. Petersburg culture back to Siberia with it. Even the architecture is reminiscent of St. Petersburg.
      When I show pictures of my native Irkutsk to people from abroad , the common element is a surprise - "oh, I didn't realize there is life out there and it looks normal' :))).
      Not only that, many do not realize that Siberia is a great academic center - Irkutsk, Novosibirsk have quite a number of universities , colleges and an academy. Siberian people are well educated and well read (and very tough).

      Of course, they are extremely selective in ballet. It is a very prestigious career in Russia, even for boys, and elite ballet schools are financed by the government. So, these schools select their students at a very young age from a huge pool of applicants based on talent and body type, not wealth. Then upon graduation (if the students even make it to the end), theatres select only the best of the graduates. And only the very best of those best make it to the top as soloists, and physical beauty plays a big role in that. Ballroom dancing is less extreme but is similar.

      The doe eyes are to suck you in....same way the Westmores did makeup on late 60 shows.
      There was one of these that focused on thr process. The "AI" is overstated. The photo artist selects a model stock shot thst looks very close, then starts manually twisting eyes, lengthening or shortening features, changing complexion by skilled artistic mouse and eye editing.
      Then the AI adds blinks, smile, Hollywood dentist teeth, nods and head movement.
      That's why they all somewhat resemble modern models and actors. Most of the women are given exaggerated broad set eyes.
