As a British soldier I always had a very high regard for the diggers. Same shit as us. Asked to do the impossible without the resources to do it. Still got it done. We both just had to burst our spleens to get it done.
I had a friend in the Royal Australian Navy. He told stories of target practice competitions against the US Navy…. Australia always won by being more accurate, with less shits. Why? Because we couldn’t afford to waste ammunition, so we tended to be more careful when aiming at the targets.
Mate, correct, it is not the size of the dog in the fight , it is the size of the fight in the dog, Hope your channel succeeds ,enjoyed watching your reaction as a former Australian Soldier.
I have a hell of alot of respect and gratitude to our Aussie soldiers...thankyou 👍
And our dogs bite is bigger than our bark!
I had someone tell me in reply to a comment I made elsewhere, that Australians are nothing militarily.
I had to reply that as a country during the Second World War its air force ended up being globally the 4th in size.
A country that was essentially just a huge farm of 7 million people in 1939.
When Australians commit, they're no slouch.
Thank you 🙏
FACT: In WW1 on the western front in Europe, Australian forces were 10% of the allies but inflicted 25% of ALL casualties on the Germans as well as taking 25% of ALL territory taken off the Germans.
Reference?
THE LONG PAST IS NOT THE PRESENT. THE GOOD AUSTRALIA IS LONG LONG GONE. DONE AND DUSTED. NOW A CORRUPT MONEY HUNGRY DICTATORSHIP
@@Michael-r1x5h Give a reference that DOESN'T show this !
@@Michael-r1x5h Dear Michael and Henri, Australian dogedness doesn't matter it is admirable but many died. Killing and maiming is not to be talked about or ever celebrated. Servicemen know that is dishonorable to talk outside your circle of Vets unless you need help. The AIF and now ADF do not publish this unless it is unclassified. My grandfather, great uncles, wife's grandfather, etc.. in WW1 alone was one of the 215,585 casualties out of 416,809 enlisted AIF. The truth is with this survival instinct came mental instability for retuened servicemen and drunkedness and grief plagued the nation. Around 13% of eligible males volunteered. 62, 000 died 155,000 were wounded some more than once and sent back.
Lest we forget. Remember. We must move on and not be full of bravado, Australia was a harsher country where people often went into the bush to hunt rabbits and learned to survive on very little and in a difficult terrain. People learned to depend on their mates and are still taught to do this in training. That's all it is. anzacday.org.au/selected-WW1-statistics This is a silly video.
@@Michael-r1x5hI’ll have to dig out my old history books on this, but recorded that the 25% capture is accurate, my recall is that most of this was during the last 100 days when Monash and Curries Corps (Aus and Canac ) swept through the Germans leading significantly to the armistice.
Big difference between America and Australia we Aussies would rather live in peace with no wars but America is funded by wars
I hate to tell you this mate we should be in Ukraine right now fighting Russia but weak government whether you like it or not Australia has always taught bullies a lession why not now. I Australian although I like peace sometimes you have to make a tough decision something our goverment are to weak to do.
@caintindal1671 Why should Australia go into Ukraine if none of the EU countries who border with them are not sending there's? Our troops would come into suply difficulties. I don't think Turkey would allow RAN to pass through into the black Sea to take on Russia for one. Our troops would have to rely on supplies coming through Poland that would end up very expensive. I am very sure Australia with its gutsy well traind and experience ADF without a doubt would put Russia on the ropes and in half the time than any Ukraine soldier could. But it would end bad if we were on our own. The supplies would come in too slow. The logistics would be very expensive, and Australia would have to call for national service to bring a significant front to Russia. This would take time. And it's a bit hard to do that on the Russia doorstep. Regardless how much better traind ADF is. We are still looking at a significant amount of Aussies KIA, possibly more so than any war we have ever fought. Russia has the numbers our country can't produce. So, the ADF would have to move fast to aim for a humiliation defeat
@@Nathan-yy2xs Because we are good at it they are not.
@@caintindal1671 How about no. Why should we have to send the sons of Australia to fight and die in a pointless war? Let the American’s and European’s sort this mess out.
@@LordAlucard974 Just like any other war World War 1,2 Iraq Vietnam Korea but so what you seen so far in the world Brics Alliances China Russia Iran North Korea and few others including Indonesia all think at the moment the west are weak because we are weak. So now that invasion Australia may come reality and we will never be able to stop them with our very small military it time to train soldiers to professional soldiers we can't even man 6 ships and 2 submarines only manning half Navel force. Two Always going to bullies in the world and you not willing to knock them down we have chance. Sometimes the hardest thing is to show strength as they did in WW1 and WW2. If we did not them we would have been speaking Japanese and Blacks would been nothing but slaves and Jews would been wiped face of the world.
Many Australian families have a tradition of fighting in wars. My Great Uncle died in WW1 at Gallipoli, my Uncle was a Commando in WW2, my father & his younger brother flew in Korea, then the Malayan conflict & Vietnam. But I truly hope my son does not have to fight in the next war.
I did three wars. And most of my mates got five.
Here here. We do not gloat or talk about war action unless help is needed. This is a stupid video. You know what I am saying.
My family have served for over 150 years that I know of first served in the Zulu war boar war ww1 then ww2 hen Korea veitnam I'm proud to be Australian

When he came home he smoked like a chimney to calm his shell shocked nerves and he became an alcoholic, he returned with untreated and unknown PTSD. Uncle Jim came home missing an eye and a kidney he also became an alcoholic. My brother in law was an army officer for 40 years, he was commanding officer of the Aussie soldiers in East Timor at the time of their fight for independence. My nephew was a twenty year veteran of the Australian army serving 2 tours of Afghanistan, their service has had a great impact on how I view our military and I’m prod to be associated with my relitives that served, of those 4 my nephew is the only surviver.
Don't forget, we may be roughly the same size as America but we only have 27million Aussies. America is 350million
In WW2 Australia was instumental in defeating Italy and Germany in north Africa, provided thousands of aircrew to defeat Germany in Europe and alongside the US defeated the Japanese Navy and Army in the Pacific. In 1945 Australia had the fourth most powerful military in the world after America, Britian and Russia.
The RAAF was the 4th largest air force at the end of WW2.
@@RandomStuff-he7luA lot of Australian pilots flew during the Battle of Britain.
They should look into the Rats of Tobruk… made Rommel look like a fool.😊
My great uncle fought alongside aussie soldiers in crete during WWII.
He was so impressed with their fighting skills that when he was looking to immigrate, he asked about the brave soldiers he fought alongside with and by describing the slouch hat was told they were Australians.
Yrs later he would bring his family and my mum over and the rest is history. During manoeuvres in the 90’s with the kiwis and americans the aussies would win most of them because the americans relied heavily on tech and we went old school. Fun fact 😂
Proud Aussie here 🇦🇺
We are introverts? laughed my head off at that
As an ADF radio tech in1984 we had an air conditioned repair vehicle. As far as the new Bushmasters they have AC with multiple vents apparently also very comfortable!
And the Bushmaster has been highly prized by the Ukrainians during their current war against the Russians. It has been credited with saving many Ukrainian personnel in battle.
We fought in the boer war from 1899 till 1902. Horse Mounted infantry units being our main type of troops in that war.
That was the second Boer War.
yes and we fought on the wrong side...we should have fought with the Boer's as most were just farmers {much like aussie farmers} and just fighting for there land...but the English did want those diamond mines lol
@Ragnar6000 don't fall for the propaganda. The Brits were suing for peace. The Boers escalated and it had little to do with diamond mines. We were on the winning side which, by historical standards, makes it the right side.
@@Ragnar6000Don’t forget…. It is the Boer who were the ideology behind Apartheid. Not really the side you want yo be supporting.
Robots and drones. The future of war
When the Boer War began all the 7 Australian States were self governing Dominions. Each state sent a military contingent that fought together, plus New Zealand, as the ANZACS. The 7 Dominions Federated during the Boer war and the Soldiers returned home to a new nation that didn't exist when they left. ANZAC:- Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
Australia army was known as The colonial forces in the late 1800s. Including during the Second Boer war 1899/ 1902. Then, it change to Australia And New Zealand army corps (ANZAC) that was formed in 1915 till 1918 it changed again to Australian imperial force (AIF) till 1980 when it officially changed to The Australian Army.
@@Nathan-yy2xsboth of you are close. Prior to Federation, they were Colony based "Colonial Forces". WWI started after Federation and the Australian contigent was the Australian Imperial Forces (AIF). The British High Command, uncertain how effective and how these colonials could be employed, lumped the Aussies and Kiwis together labelling the Formation the Australian New Zealand Army Corps or ANZAC. This was an Imperial military formation, not the name of the nation's military. The ANZAC was Army. The AIF was all inclusive, i.e..Army and Navy.
As an ex RAAF MEMBER, let me assure you, there are 100’s of thousands of Veterans that would pick up a weapon and defend their country. We never forget get our training. Many go on the server as police officers as I did, serving as border force officers, prison officers, paramedics, civil aviation. Keeping their skills and improving them too. So the country can be more powerful than expected. Australians are a very tough fighting force, proven through our history.
It is a determined group of young fellas. We do not need videos like this to brag or gloat about our wars. To Aussie diggers, it is not a competition when under fire. Fear drives that inner drop of strength and for many, it has cut short a life. We know why it was necessary and only respond to threats made to our country and allies. May we live in peace if possible and only call on that collective support if it is really necessary. May we the next generations be saved from war. It has left so many scars. So bloody stupid really.
Lest we forget.
@@Bones-od3rgour military is a dei joke, I’m an 18 yr recent RAAF veteran and the biggest threat we have is from within that’s why our suicide rate is so extreme. My sons will never join our military or police force unless I’m dead or Australia is under direct attack.

Australia military is actually to be larger over the next 2 decades or so with the Australian government announcement of increasing troops numbers and other personnel. The Royal Australian navy fleet size is also to triple with an order of more combating warship and nuclear powered submarines. Many of the Australian army equipment is also getting an overhaul. With the retirement of the NH90 helicopter and instead getting upgraded blackhawk helicopters. Including 27 Apache attack helicopters to add to the fleet. HIMARS And MLRS rocket. Including K9 thunder 155mm self propelled howitzer artillery tanks. New drones, some with AI assistance such as the stealth MQ 28 ghost bat unmanned fighter aircraft. Also known as the loyal wingman. New infantry fighting vehicles also will enter service in 2027, such as the K21 readback IFV, which also has SPIKE LR2 missiles to replace the M1113 IFV.
The Royal Australian Air Force oporate a number of combat aircraft such as FA-18F super hornets, FA18 Growlers, and electronic attack aircraft, including F35A stealth fighters
New 6th generation Air superiority aircraft is been looked at to purchase sometime in 2030s.
Australia is in a military technology pack with the UK and USA called AUKUS. Including Australia is part of the 5 eyes Nation with security sharing. With a joint military base in Australia between the USA and Australia called pine gap. Give Australia full access to American satellites for security purposes.
Types of missiles eqwiped on Australian warships ESSM, SM2, SM6, tomahawk cruise missile, Navel strike missiles. Known as NSM, including torpedoes.
Land air defence NASAMS including hypersonic missiles have been developed, and other mobile anti ship weaponry
The Australian army oporate a number of close in air defence systems and small arms with the Enhanced F88 Austeyr as the primary standard rifle for the Army produced locally in Australia. And a number of heavy machine guns.
By the 2040s, Australia military would be the most powerful not just in Oceania but also outmatching Southeast Asia, bringing Australian military power ranking with the top 12 in global firepower.
The Australian SAS and the cCommandoregiment are one of the worlds best special forces, equivalent to the USA Delta force and Green berate and the UK SAS.

@Lavendercn1951 people are joining up. But they are having difficulties finding enough. Maybe under different leadership things may change for the ADF to reach its targets. This is not just an Australian issue. Most Western nations are having the same difficulties.
Excellent comment about the size of the dog 👍

Any invading army has to survive the Australian wildlife first. The Emus hunger for blood and the Drop Bears are turning carnivorous
Not forgetting those hoop snakes, sneaky damn things
The twin rotor helicopter (Chinook) has the front blades rotating clockwise and the rear rotates anti clockwise, allow the helicopter to fly straight and stable.
The Two rotor c Helicopter is called the Chinook....its a heavy lift/ transport Helicopter. The 2 rotors operate together but spin in opposite directions to conteract the torque from each other

Thanks for explaining. Now we understand better 👏
Just to be clear, the first question here should be how many wars have the ADF been lied into participating and dying needlessly in!
Australian infantry soldiers are trained to a high standard equaling what American calls special forces. As the sas and commandos develop tactics the lessons learned trickle down to the infantry
During the first world war an english general commented that the australian soldiers needed less spit and more polish!😊
Yep. We definitely have some "Fighting Dogs" down here!👍🤘🇦🇺
It’s so cool and crazy tho 👏
Did you know there were actually two Boer Wars, one was in 1880-1881 and the second in 1899-1902. Both wars were between the British Empire and the Dutch settlers of two independent Boer republics, the Orange Free State and the Transvaal Republic.
Imagine if there was no need for a military and the only defence needed was defending the score board in a sporting match.
The Boer War was in what is now South Africa in the 1890s…. Before Australia was an independent nation (1901).
Also by the Vietnam war starting, in Australia 🇦🇺 our troops did a longer training period than American troops. Your soldiers basically had barely any real training time, we said amongst us and the R&R boys we used to take in 4 or 5 at a time, and fact, every one of them were true gentlemen more so than us rowdy Australians. Yes we had a draft here too but it was a marble who was going in. I enlisted when i came of age, but a pimple on my butt was a rookie cop, be a smart arse, king hit me in the back of the head, i spun 3 hits and he was unconscious before he hit the ground, and then i saw his uniform. Then 6 cops grabbed me and fronted court next day, judge knew i was a set up, so no fine, but a court order no fists up or gaol. I could use my feet. But in 5 days i eas to go to basic, but that dickhead cop stuffed it, When W.O. came around and wanted me to go then, i said what for ,theyre starting to pull out.
Still a firm believer that all Australian’s both male and female should do a form of National Service Starting with a Combined Service boot camp of 26 weeks then a following 10 weeks of individual service follow up training before going on to a Reddy Reserve Forces for the remainder of a three yr term.
German general Rommel thought so highly of the Aussie and New Zealand troops that he said “ if I was ordered to take control of hell, I’d use the Australian army to take control and the New Zealand army to defend it”
size makes Australia resource rich :) literal land wealth.. also because Australia was a colony of England it helped protect England from the Germans in WW1 and WW2 also protected itself from Japan in WW2. Good reaction video from people who really don't know about the topic.. well done :)
You commented on troop carriers. We are currently building our own designed Korean based tracked Redback Fighting Vehicle & our tracked 155mm Artillery the Huntsman. ( Both named after deadly Australian spiders)🇦🇺😊
Not the size of the dog but the size of the fight in the dog is correct. But also what's been sed for generations is that they send in the Aussies to take an objective, then we put our brothers and sisters from new Zealand to hold the objective. And beleave me they don't lose it
Powerful enough, lightly in comparison to other countries, but what the aussie troops really have is a calculated cunning and knowledge to make the most of what they can get their hands on.
2nd Boer war 1899 - 1902 SAR got a little worried with a big influx of foreigners coming in to settle and Boers got unsettled by English taking over the country. English and Aussies were practically military was twice as many than Boers , but lost twice as many than the Boers
The Australian environment and wildlife make it so the most varied training is available to our military so we have the ability to endure many different war zones
remember when the Aussies stole that ww1 German tank and they wont give it back to this day
Awesome video!!
❤️❤️
We do have a robot dog. We also have a cardboard drones that can't be detected by radar.👍
That’s insane. Wowwwww 😱
We’ve developed and have been supplying to Ukraine cardboard drones which are cheaper to make but also difficult for the Russians to detect on their sonar because there’s no metal to detect in the flying object
See the movie "Danger Close ". Vietnam war, the Battle of Long Tan. An Australian company gets lured into a trap against 2 Regiments of Vietnamese Regulars... Australia lost 18 men....North Vietnam lost hundreds.
We just spent $350 billion on some submarines which we may get as well as a used spent nuclear facility for I think Australia, United Kingdom & the USA.
Our radar can see stealth. We have autonomous robots patrolling the north. We have stealth drones, and lead the would in electric counter measures. But our greatest ally will always be our climate..one minute your dying from thrust only to receive a flood. Now all the water is contaminated. 200 years and we are still trying to “settle” any community on the interior.
Do not mess with Australia
I’ve never been in the military but have a close connection with relatives that have served with distinction in Afghanistan and Timor so if any foreign nation tried to invade Australia the invading force would be made to feel sorry they ever stepped foot on our soil.
if you are interested in some of the history of the Australian Forces, you may want to research Galipoli..... The troops were sent to the wrong beach-head and were ambushed as they were getting off the transport carriers but never gave up against impossible odds........ another is siege of Tobruk, Libya during World War II. the soldiers were considered as rats caught in a trap and got the nickname "The Rats of Tobruk"
Australia is as big as the Continental US , guys. The Boer War (in South Africa). The ADF = The RAAF : Royal Australian Air Force ( my Dad was a WW2 Veteran, having served in PNG against the Japanese); the RAR : Royal Australian Regiment the Australian Army 🪖; the RAN : Royal Australian Navy .
There is a great movie called Breaker Morant which will give you all a good insight.😇❤️

The biggest ship we have is an aircraft carrier named the HMAS ADELAIDE, the city I live in 🇦🇺 👍
look up exercise talisman sabre to be run again this year. last time it ran they had 30000 troops from over 16 different countries taking part.
Also look at ww1, the taking of beersheba, it was said it could not be done, but they did it. Also the rats of tobruk. The germans in ww2 could not get rid of them no matter what they did.
Australia is almost the same land mass as America is and with the picture of the globe and in books it doesn’t show true sizes of all land.
The USA seals came to Australia to train with our elite military team and they are SASR because the USA seals couldn’t believe how efficient and affective Aussie’s were in the dry heat of Afghanistan.
The SASR cleared the way to critical points at the beginning of Afghanistan war
as for the helicopters with 2 rotator blades they are synchronised so they never come into contact

it's an attack force, not a defence force, as Australians we see this ,,

Naturally, we can't say too much and what you are seeing is the obvious but we have lots of tricks up our sleeve. The world got a big surprise when we sent cardboard drones to help out in Ukraine.
They can't be seen coming on radar, that is just one example. Every town in Australia has the old big guns from the different wars, ready to go, they can be bought back into service at a moments notice. Most are sitting in parks in every town, all over the country as memorials. If needed they are can be bought back to life very fast.
About the guns? I call 🐂 💩. None of those memorial artillery pieces are able to be used again.

The Malayan Emergency, also known as the Anti-British National Liberation War, (1948-1960) was a guerrilla war fought in Malaya between communist pro-independence fighters of the Malayan National Liberation Army (MNLA) and the military forces of the Federation of Malaya and Commonwealth (British Empire). The communists fought to win independence for Malaya from the British Empire and to establish a communist state, while the Malayan Federation and Commonwealth forces fought to combat communism and protect British economic and colonial interests. The term "Emergency" was used by the British to characterise the conflict in order to avoid referring to it as a war, because London-based insurers would not pay out in instances of civil wars.
The Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation or Borneo confrontation (known as Konfrontasi in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore) was an armed conflict from 1963 to 1966 that stemmed from Indonesia's opposition to the creation of the state of Malaysia from the Federation of Malaya. After Indonesian president Sukarno was deposed in 1966, the dispute ended peacefully.
Chinook Helicopter uses counter rotating blades to negate the induced spin caused by rotor torque. Usually a vertical tail rotor is used. The reason for the modification was to add more lift through the downforce of horizontal counter rotating blades so it could carry more troops and lift heavier cargos such as mountain artillery and jeeps.
It appears to be the only American design to use it and later helicopters used for large troop and cargo carrying went back to the usual configuration but with 2 turbocharged turbines.

Australia was founded as a penal colony after the US rebelled against Great Britain and they no longer had a place they could readily dispose of debtors or others they didn't want in the country but couldn't necessarily kill. It could be understood that the Royal Australian Navy were the first Australians to step foot on Australia to create a settlement after the indigenous. The Admiral would become Australia's first governor. Many of the early Australians were Irish, Welsh, and Scottish, but it would be easy to believe they were all poor. See the BBC miniseries, Banished.

The Australian military is nothing compared with the likes of other countries. They can handle certain wars but most of the time they join other forces / countries. I doubt Australian forces would handle a war on their own. I don't think that they have the personnel or the equipment to go to war alone. Maybe they'll recruit some kangaroos?
