Thanks for the demo Darren. Since virtually all of my mainline turnouts are #6, I went on and made a cutting template for the cork to save time in the long run. Art...
Your layout is coming along nicely. Thank you for sharing your layout progress with us.. Can't wait to just start bench work, still planning unfortunately. Its coming along nicely but time consuming. Stay safe and God bless you and your family.
@@EmPtySworld1 Shoulder sore from over usage but doing ok. No further word on cancer, next visit in August. Hernias both still agitated from radiation but are slowly feeling better. How you doing, layout looking really nice.
@@EmPtySworld1 I hear you, I've never done the gym thing but I keep more than active enough for 2 people usually. Keeps me in shape- until last year anyway. Stay safe and hopefully things get back to normal soon. Will be a life changer for sure but things should return by end of year to normalcy I hope.
Wow. Ive never seen roadbed laid that and i like it. I do it main like first and diverging route second and it always a pain in the @$$. Thanks for sharing.
That is the exact same method my dad taught me when I was 10 years old and we were working on our first layout.. We would pin the two outside pieces and let them dry for a while before adding the inside pieces. The important thing was getting the center lines marked properly. Mark and measure 3+ times and glue once. I continue to use this method today on my new layout. Great job.
I do the same as you do, and after i sand the cork i spray paint it black where the turnout is and where the cracks are i cover them with black electrical tape, the tape doesn't effect the turnout. just my 2 cents. Be safe stay healthy
Thanks for watching. Yeah I have used a few different methods..In the end I usually don't worry about the gap and just let ballast and weathering hide it. Hope all is well.
i always find the turn outs hard to do for cork roadbed. I always end up with Swiss cheese. very nice how to , and a big help.. Ty . who would of thought, a ruler helps
B&H Railroad I am doing OK., working on my shed, need to get it finished so I can clear space for layout, hard to get materials, i ordered some N gage track and some rolling stock, going to use it to run trains and learn how to use my DCC controller , I have lot models on order from Walthers but delivery delayed until summer, I was layer off end of March but was planning to retire soon, my plans are delayed for a while
B&H Railroad good man, how you doing? I totally do my cork the same way. But like you said there is no right or wrong way.. but still.... looks really good. -Kris
This is one of the best how to videos that I have seen in a long time thank you for sharing with us I'm going to share this video to my new Facebook group called trains across the world I have a link on my last video if you would like to join and share your love of the hobby with others around the world
Yup, this is also how I do it. Good track work begins with solid bench work and continues until the last solder joint is made. I'm also "Anal" about these things. LOL Great video!!
Hi Darren, this how I would do it if I go back to roadbed. I change things to much to be permanent. haha Oh and ballist is the very last thing I would do.
Grandpa how are you? Yeah ballast will be one of the last things I do. I tend to change my mind to much, so I'm sure I'll be reworking track soon.. OK Headed out to rework track
Great tips on doing roadbed . Thanks for sharing .

I think it is really good to be particular when laying track as the time you spend now will save you a lot of time later. Good job on the layout.

I do not worry about the gaps in the roadbed because the ballast will fill that in. Thanks for sharing. - Paul

Are those Peco turnouts and are you going to do the mods to them?
Yes they are peco turnouts. I'll just wire them up on entry and exit of turnout
@@EmPtySworld1 so your telling me im wasting my time to mod those?
what type of turnout do you have?
You’re a year late 😂😂 just kidding. Nice video. Saw something similar a couple years ago but your method is much simpler 👍🏽
