I have had a g14 for about a month now. It's awesome and I love it so much. Everything is perfect except these gripes: there are a couple issues with VR, connecting it has all kinds of weirdness, not recognizing the GPU, funky Virtual desktop issues where it doesn't display your screen, weird perspective changes whilst in SOME games tho it remains playable. Well, VR games become playable in the first place when you mess with some kinds of settings to let the GPU work (I don't know how I did it I did a lot of things but I'm sure someone who is more technically inclined can figure it out easier) In room temperature, its max temp is like 86C, but anything hotter than room temperature and you get to the mid/lower 90's. The Armoury crate software can get super funky when you add profiles that also activate with certain apps, I stopped using "profiles" because of that. These gripes are honestly not something to be worried about as I said everything else is perfect. If you mess with other Armoury settings, you can get a minimum of 5hrs of battery life (up to 9hrs but rarely) and more or less 2 hrs of gameplay (I can play a game called Terraria for like 3 hrs or CSGO for 2, both with 60FPS). Keyboard is very comfortable. Screen is awesome, it can get reasonably bright and colors look great. There is also no ghosting at all that I noticed as a casual gamer. Finger print scanner works 100% of the time, if it isn't, then you aren't placing your finger correctly the way you did when you first configured it. Track pad is good. Gaming performance is essentially guaranteed 144FPS on any games besides maybe a couple AAA titles, where in that case its a guaranteed 60. This thing is super light and compact it is such a pleasure to carry around. It doens't have a webcam, but 30$ for an external one is honestly no big deal. Speakers are good and loud. Overall, you are getting a great powerhouse and elegant experience in a 14' package. That's mostly what I got this laptop for, for its compact size and its amazing. However if you want something more powerful and don't care about length, the G15 is a nice upgrade in power, but for my needs this more than fulfills its duty.
I own the 3060 version of this laptop (like several other people here), and it is very good from what I can tell, I use it for lots of photo editing in lightroom and it has no hiccups, gaming is also smooth. I should note that I rushed to pick this laptop on boxing day so I didn't do quite as much research as I should've, but I don't regret my decision, and having a lighter and thinner laptop compared to other similar gaming laptops is fantastic when you need to travel by public transit with it daily.

I got this exact laptop - but in the 3060 variant. Love it! I agree that the quad core should be paired only with 3060, in benchmarks it falls only slightly behind the 3060 85W with 99% use. The good thing about the CPU tho' - those aren't some crappy cores inside it, but very powerful ones which allow overall laptop to constantly work without a hiccup in daily use and gaming. TL;DR: Great laptop, but you should only consider the 3060 variant (and it's screen is not that bad as some say when compared with the more expesive 3070 variant).

@@shashwatmali3640 It's got 4 cores, but those are powerful cores. So this CPU definetly can handle AAA games. There might be some small bottleneck, but nothing serious with the RTX 3060 85W version. As for cooling solution, the 2021 TUF Dash model has improvements over the previous gen variants, so expect stable temps under full load like ~70-74 C on GPU.
@@TabalugaDragon mine’s able to last consistently about 8-10 hours on normal use, battery saver able to reach up to 12 hours. Which is insane on a gaming laptop haha.
I know it's 4 cores and all but this laptop with a 3050ti and a 11300h is about 50-100 dollars cheaper than 1660ti laptops that have a decent CPU here (4800 or a 10750). So that configuration of the laptop seems like a decent option here
Thank you very much, and thanks for a brief testing of it in Linux as it's always hard to find that kind of info especially for the models which aren't widespread yet. I really hope that manufacturers would start add more Linux support soon or at least have control over battery charging which is the biggest concern for me as without it a laptop's battery would overcharge and will die quickly.
Intel wasn't really thinking when they added an option for a 3070, it should be conisdered more as a mid to low end laptop with only 3050, 3050 ti and 3060 graphics in mind, since it only has a 4 core cpu. Although all of that, I plan to buy this with an i7 11370H and a 3050, even though people dislike this laptop for putting a 4 core in 2021

it’s much more easy to recommend with the 3060, not the 3070. You’ll at least get more out of your money that way, the 3070 version just fucks up the price to performance.
@@dxshawn532 you see my friend, it’s not about the specs, but about the performance per dollar. This lapto would normally go for around 1000-1100 for this rtx 3060 version, and for that price, it pretty much performs better in gaming than the other laptops in that price range while keeping temperatures low. That’s what matters.

I was actually looking at that exact one pretty hard next to this one. Just trust the Asus name in the gaming laptop and components world more. Plus the sale of this one at $1300 I couldn't say no.
None of those Amazon prices are accurate. Things are already inflated to due chip shortages, but those 3rd party Amazon sellers upgrade the RAM and then sell the units for hundreds more, and fools buy them because it’s the only way to get things in stock. This laptop is actually pretty reasonable at its MSRP of $1099 for the 3060 model and just a few hundred more for the 3070, 1TB SSD, 240hz panel
4-cores are fine for entry level gaming laptops and they could be paired with a 1650 or 3050. There are actually people who would want that because it brings down the price. Pairing a 4-core with an RTX 3070 is, however, a cardinal sin...

@Claudio Salazar nonsense. You people heard the word bottleneck and imagine it's something like the bsod's you amd plants experience on the daily. It can run any game well in its designed resolution...the fact that a program can tell it"s "20% bottleneck" means fk all if it's putting out sufficient frames to cap the refresh rate at its resolution. It's that simple, but they don't teach this shit in fanboy camps
@Claudio Salazar in short, you're still talking out your ass, same as HU who are also breathing out that amd cawk breath. Don't believe it? Go back three years and try find a single title where they Don't suck amd off. Dude, bottlenecks mean shit, it's not like pairing a pentium 1 with a 3080, get the fuck real.
Even with the i5 it puts out reasonable frame rate well deserved for a 3060. I don't get what kind of bottleneck whatsoever. hey its a thin and light gaming laptop. some people are looking for these kind. if highest possible fps are what you after better build a desktop

I almost bought a gaming laptop with RTX 3070 or 3060 ,but it seems companies are focused on heat & power limits too the Point where they are blocking proformances if the RTX . Thank good I went for a gaming laptop with a RTX 2070 and the watt is 230.
Seems like at 80W TDP, it’s not worth going for the 3070. I got my F15 with a 3050 ti, 11300H, and a 144 Hz panel, for about half the price. 80W is the high end for 3050 ti so I won’t have to worry about losing much performance to the TDP limit. I still wish it had a couple more CPU cores though.
I've had the 3070 version for about a year now, if you're looking for a laptop for studying/working and gaming at the same time this is the one, it runs r6s with everything on ultra high with about 120 fps , and it's long battery life and thin design is perfect for studying and working
@Cow baby Sometimes yeah. But it shouldn't really be that bad with paired with the 2060. You don't need to have a 6 core cpu for the 2060 necessarily. For anything above a 2060 I'd definitely look for a 6 core/12 thread cpu.
I can regularily play War Thunder in Cinematic graphics with this laptop, even though it’s better than Max graphics and only supposed used for small periods of time.
I have the Asus TUF FX505DT Gaming Laptop. It's equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 16-series graphics and a quad-core Ryzen 7 processor, FX505 is able to play the latest games and multitask with ease. I have the NVIDIA control panel on my gaming laptop, to my 55" Samsung 4K QLED TV. It can display in 4K quality, which is a bonus to be playing video games in 4K quality. Just have to adjust the settings to get it in 4K.
I bought this labtop almost 5 - 6 weeks ago. It's very good if you have a low budget price. I programing and gamimg and it can working perfectly. If you have more money of course there is a lot of labtop models exists. Plus it is for for those people who traveling too much and wanting a gaming labtop. It has a software named armoury crade which you can optimize your computer for you use. For example turbo boost is for gaming and Silent mode is for coding/watching movie and etc. (fans are offline in silent mode and cpu temp. Is under 54 because cpu has 10W power on silent mode). And about the CPU. It's very good on singlecore performance and it can comparable with 10th i9 and about multi core it's comparable with i7-10750H or I5-11400H. It's little weak in multicore performance and for this reason it's not good for video editing /rendering/music production /AI and etc.(note that cpu is the 35W cpu but you will get 60w power while RTX graphic cheap is off so he trying hard bro) But it's good for gaming. Even you set game's cpu priority to high in windows task manager to get more results. Idk why i feel it's equal with ryzen 5800H because what is see FPS results in howmanyfps website, i see those 4 cores are the powerful ones. (note that games optimised for single core). and about fans i mentioned in above. Those are the powerful ones but it labtop heats a lot while gaming but after you closing game the temp going down very fast. Consider that it has 6 heat sink. I'm very satisfied for this labtop. Otherwise about CPU iris GPU it can run medal of honor without RTX card with 50FPS all alone lol. with RTX 3060 GPU i got these fps from it :(ultra settings) Battlefield V around 120 to 130FPS. Age 4 : 80 to 95FPS COD Warzone (ultra+ ray tracing ON) 80 to 92 FPS. GTA V : 80 to 95 fps And about rdr2 i seen lot's of. Movies in UA-cam and AVG fps is around 30 to 44 FPS. You can compare and see more games/labtops in Howmanyfps website. One.more point is : this labtop has thunderbult4 port which means you can connect it to extra graphic card or connect it to 8K LCD to get more fps as well. Battery is good which u can watch 8 hours movie with battery (silent mode) Body is not. Weak and its good travel and put it in your bag. My final point is that 4 core CPU isn't bad so far as i tested. Good for gaming but not good for multimedia rendering / editing stuff.
Hey, I bought the exact model and I’m getting horrible performance. Battlefield 5 50fps with bad stuttering, valorant 50fps. Only 40% GPU usage. It’s on turbo mode as well. I think it’s the 8gb ram not to sure… it would be get how you’ve set your laptop up.
@@soChillyHD hey mate Buy another 8GB ram for it and get 16GB ram. Most of games using above 10GB like battlefield V as well (for high quality and fps) and it's really important to get more fps and quality. And did you install and update your graphic card and cpu driver? If yes. So probably your windows could not automatically run games on RTX card and running it on on-board graphic. Try to switch the game to run on RTX manually in windows settings. But i guess your problem is about RAM. While gaming COD warzone 13.5GB ram + 5.5GB Vram will used for maximum quality and if you run Warzone on 8GB ram system the quality and fps going down (minimum system requirement) . 8GB is not enough
@@soChillyHD using external monitor doesn't help much. Just about getting 7 to 10 more fps. While you have 8GB ram it means you are using minimum game requirements. ( Check battlefield V system requirement.) To get high graphic quality and fps you need to get more ram dude.

Otherwise about CPU iris GPU it can run medal of honor without RTX card with 50FPS all alone lol.
with RTX 3060 GPU i got these fps from it :(ultra settings)
Battlefield V around 120 to 130FPS.
Age 4 : 80 to 95FPS
COD Warzone (ultra+ ray tracing ON) 80 to 92 FPS.
GTA V : 80 to 95 fps
And about rdr2 i seen lot's of.
Battery is good which u can watch 8 hours movie with battery (silent mode)
Body is not. Weak and its good travel and put it in your bag.
My final point is that 4 core CPU isn't bad so far as i tested. Good for gaming but not good for multimedia rendering / editing stuff.

If yes. So probably your windows could not automatically run games on RTX card and running it on on-board graphic. Try to switch the game to run on RTX manually in windows settings.

@@fuzztunr i5 and i7 h35 is the same thing with just slighty different turboboost

Hard to imagine that the same company made g14 and g15 …
Everything looks extremely good compared to the last year's TUF lineup until the upgradability and performance.
this is dash series i guess which looks sleack but comes in a performance cost
I got this with 3060, I paid £810 for it so good for the price just need to upgrade ram
also external monitor
I love the aesthetics/ build but damn why use those specs :(
Yep.
No VTEC, no buy. 😄😁
please review F15 2022 with the 3070.
12:08 Wise words lol
The 2022 model sounds so so good on the paper
hopefully your reviews will show that having an RTX3070 doesnt mean its gonna perform to your expectations
in India ,atleast, Asus TUF series is one of the few models(maybe the only) having the latest RTX3000 mobile GPUs, so it must be tempting for us to buy, when even a last gen , cheaper RTX2000 series matches it or even beats it in performance, nvm that we easily pay 200+$ extra over US prices already
hopefully people arent fooled and watch your reviews first, cause many were complaining in the Amazon reviews section
(Honestly how do you mess up an expensive purchase when there are so many people/YTbers to guide you, do people buy things just like that?? just how rich are these people? XD i "research" thoroughly for days just to buy 30$ headphones so that i get the "best of the worst" i suppose XD XD)
You seem like a smart guy.
@@ChasingFoodStamps nah dude, just a guy who watches tech YTbers in his free time XD
heyyy i brought the 3060 plus i511400h varient which has 6core plus 12 thread for 1lakh indian rupees and yes i am from india
Most people aren’t great with tech, so researching and understanding terminology is diffficult
@@AlluringPegasu13 yo how to know how many cores an laptop has, im looking online rn so cant find pls tell me
Wow, that moment when vents being directly below the fans and not blocked is praised.
Truly fucking amazing OEM's. Cause I've seen msi pull this sort of crap with their gf65 thin.
What cooler should I use for the Lenovo legion 5 pro specifically? If I want the best performance (the least heat). Thanks
What do you mean? Laptops have integrated coolers of course.
Cooling pad for sure
@@ahmedbrahimi8649 any cooling pad with minimum 4 fan
Alright I'll see for myself, but I thought that 1 big fan (like 200mm) was better
@@ahmedbrahimi8649 its up to you but from what i seen in cooling pad review including this channel .4 fan will give the best
Hey Jarrod
I bought this laptop a year ago thanks to your review
But today I've just spilled water by accident on it. It wasn't that much, but I proceeded to turn it off and dry it with a towel, then disconnect all devices attached to it, I dried it with a hair dryer for some minutes and then let it rest in a towel.
The thing here is
It's been less than an hour, but I can't turn it on.
How much time should I wait before I know that it's completely dry?
Did I have to open it and separate the battery?
I'll be glad if you could give me some advice in my situation.
Have a great day
Hard to say, I'd give it at least a full day or two to dry out but that's me. Probably take it to some sort of repair place before doing anything yourself.
@@JarrodsTech Thank you very much for answering, seriously.
You are great.
It looks we have to wait a day or two then
@@Actsonhow'd it go
Now I know how looks degenerate marketing.
this vid convinced me to cancel my order for the tuf f15 and order... you guessed it, a legion 5 that has better specs and was cheaper by $200 due to a sale. i had no clue about the permanent optimus or quad core when i got it, everything else seemed perfect. thanks for saving me from a slightly disappointing experience.
Hope you enjoy it!
Most inefficient config ever, thanks to Intel’s idea
Bit stupid to say, since intel has little say in what they do with the laptops after they sold their parts for them. But you're an amd bot, insulting intel is all you plant pots are capable of. Until you find out the monitors keeping your nan alive are all powered by intel and she'd be dead a long time ago if they were stupid enough to use amd. Anyone with a working brain should know why.
@@arkdesign9517 how many ppl can differentiate 11300H vs 11400H? Giving it the same naming scheme is stupid, putting it in gaming laptop just to fool ppl, srr Intel fan.

these ultra fat heavy laptops always made me never to think about buying one but these compromise generation also the MSI Steath between 1,8 and 2 Kilo are gamechangers. You get a really nice performance on a real mobile device. with the old fat ones it felt they are close to be like a Desktop and then i prefer a real Desktop. Well Done

What’s the biggest problem about this laptop in your opinion? Cause low key this laptop is god tier for what it is. If you get it right out of the box it may seem kinda bad but once you start over locking and changing the settings for best performance this thing is a beast
4 cores prolly isn't enough for the future, but this one is already outdated, i bought an f15 2022 edition an it has a 10 core i7 12650 h
instead of a 4 core i7 13700 or smthg like that, so check wich one you are buying and wich cpu it has.
@@An3mal I heard that the 2021 version had multiple updates for the gpu and processor and now it’s a lot better and I won’t be using the 10 cores much if I play a game it’ll only be the game and nothing in the background so I won’t be multitasking so I think four cores will be enough
Really appreciate that you are testing Linux. Keep up ♥️
Looks exactly like ROG Zephyrus G15 (2020)
I wouldn't buy it unless price falls below 1k USD
Great review, thanks!
Good day sir.
Do you have a TUF Dash F15 2022 version? I want to buy this laptop but I don't have any idea about the new feature and Cons
No, I wasn't able to get one last year.
It's one of the best budget laptops out there
it looks like zephyrus but without the logo of rog 😧
Can you review the budget gaming laptop??
I have this. When I see other laptops, it has a bump on the top 😬
Can’t wait for that “20 games tested”
Hey Jarrod,
I am confused between Zephyrus 12700H M16 Rtx 3060 and the Tuf F15 12650 and RTX 3070. I like Zephyrus more but RTX 3070 looking more value for money as the difference is only $100.
Could you please suggest? Thanks!
You are the Best Laptop Reviewer and you are an honest man.
Thanks!
Do you recommend livestreaming using this laptop?
The real question is... should you take the stickers off?
I'm seeing lots of comments about quad core and bottlenecks... kinda turning me away from the laptop. However, I have the opportunity to buy one that's discounted for having an opened box by 420 bucks making it 1200 CAD ish. I'm thinking this is a good deal.
Thanks for the reviews, do you have any plans to review any of metabox's 15.6 inch laptops?
How about with the RTX 3050? Is that a more sensible combination?
Hi Jarrod, they revised the F15 and gave it 8 cores, would you consider it a good choice when it has an i7 11800h RTX 3060(95W) for 1600 USD?
I am also interested in this version and answer
What do you think is the best Asus f15 or a15? Thanks
can u compare the 2022 version of tuf dash f15 with the 2022 version of rog strix g15 advantage edition
Actually I'm going to buy this laptop not for hard gaming, but for music production and dj's laptop. But after I knew that the cpu only 4 cores, it's big NO. and now I'm confused does anybody here can give me suggestions which laptop should I buy?? 😭
