He was probably sent down first for information, to ensure that it was safe to land. They have to worry about loosing 4-6 guys, plus a million dollar aircraft.
I think the guy who was the rescue swimmer you see here in this video said that they were unsure of the helipad max weight. Then when he saw the pad max weight they figured they could land it. I remember seeing that comment from him a while back or something.
Ok uh they lowered the rescue swimmer along with a stokes basket to the ships helicopter deck and next we see the helicopter on the deck and the patient climbing in the chopper.
Maybe they were unsure of the maximum landing weight of the helipad and the AST was sent down first to verify. Who knows. Point is, don’t comment about something you know nothing about
Id like to understand. So why didn't you land the helicopter on the ship in the first place would things not have been alot faster

Very rarely will the CG or any other military assets land on a cruise ship, due to the risk factor

@@theholygrail3865wouldn’t the ships crew know? Besides the 65 ain’t that heavy.
A lot of hover time at 290 miles from Miami that’s a lot of fuel consumed. Not sure what the range of the helo is?
Thanks for explanation. Never knew that but makes sense.
Couldn't the helicopter land on the ship first before applying the person and the gear?
Don’t ask such common sense questions. A holes like to be pricks.
