I'm really curious what u meant, either in this vid, re sweating in this leather? In a prior vid quite a while ago, u said that fake leather was worse for comfort/stickiness, than the real leather option. I'm picking a used Bmw w/ either leather or sensatec. Thanks for such excellent reviews-- and i too wish that the euro cars brought more fabrics to US spec models-- it's a real problem that they don't.
I love the way the trunk opens. Easily, for me on the road trips, the best way to quickly take items from the trunk. It would allow me to change my shoes before hiking as well. I wish more car manufacturers would offer that.
Picking up the sound of fingers running over the dashboard panel! Never seen any other reviewer done that. Great detail. Best reviewer on youttube for sure!
Great review as always. I am also surprised by the poor leg room, not only the distance to the front seat but perhaps more importantly the depth of the rear seat footwell - or lack of it. Your knee angle is really crazy!
You guys make the most in-depth car reviews by far. Just everything is covered. Great! Maybe in the future can you give cars an actual score based on several key factors, so it's easier for us to compare cars?
I have the new X3 (G01) with all These systems onboard. I agree about the way the car reacts when it leaves a lane without indicating. It reacts so abrubtly and in certain circumstances, it can be dangerous. The Autosteering function is a godsend in traffic jam situations. You can let go of the steering completely, even at higher speeds. The head-up display will show a yellow wheel after approx 30 secs, visual warning, then a red wheel with audible warning after another 15 seconds if you don’t take the wheel. I have the M-Sport equipped version with the sports suspension. It is good on good roads, somewhat hard when on bumpy roads. I wish I had taken the adaptive suspension. My last car was a fully equipped 435d Grand Coupe with 313 hp. My X3 has the 2 Liter Diesel engine with 190 hp. It was recommended by a friend who has it in his 5 series station wagon/estate. I was really surprised at the torque, speed and reaction of this four cylinder. Super mileage and cruises like a dream. Oh yeh, one other thing, don’t go for the sports seats! Unless you have a really well cushioned backside, the seats are really hard and uncomfortable. I have them, unfortunately 🙁 All in all though, a great car, great performance but yes, that front grill could be a touch smaller....👍👍👍
Can u please tell whether the panaromic roof shade is covered with suede or something else.. because i want to confirm that whether the sun shine can pass through it or not.
@@harshulsahni2614 BMW have done away with the hard, two part, sunroof cover. It is now made of black, perforated material which when opened, rolls completely out of sight at the rear of the sunroof. A little sunlight can pass through but as the glass is tinted, there is no heat radiation passing through to the interior. Hope I could help 🤘
At 40:27 you can also notice the new light strip on the steering wheel above the buttons, that's supposed to be green I think when the ACC is ok and change colors based on when it requires attention and such. Neat little feature.
Thomas, great work as always! Just one thing - practically all BMW with sport gearshift box HAVE launch-control, but it is somewhat a secret menu - put the "drive experience" in Sport + mode, gear lever to the left in S mode, and then hard brake + "pedal to the metal" - a checkered flag will appear in displays (even HUD display), and then - GO!!! :)
Thomas, I really like your reviews! And this one ist extremely good; I am driving actually a G05 M50d, and your details fit exactly to my experience with the car. So, very well done! 😀👍
Not feeling that grille and those tail lights. Something about it just isn't physically appealing. Regardless, great review as always. Glad I watched it here first! 😁👌
BMW did an awesome job this time, the side profile and back look amazing, the interior is so beautiful too. i kind of like the reverse RPM rev counter, great job as always Thomas
Really professional Review. As always from Thomas. Agree about wheel arches. Not a fan of the bulky rear 'diffuser' or rear valence. Yes, prefer key fob. Such good detailed photography. Agree: everything is a costly extra (including enormous depreciation!). For this reason it's why I think base price is pretty useless; "all extras fitted" cost is more useful, then one can compare price and spec between rivals! But at high priced cars, most rich actual buyers (as opposed to us casual observers!) aren't interested in cost (indeed higher the cost, better for kudos amongst neighbours), they are thinking brand image and symbols of wealth! Superb driving part. Best wishes to Katharina. Thank you for your hard work.
The front kidney grills are too big! I personally prefer the size of the older one...Otherwise it looks great! Way cooler than the 2019 Mercededes GLE.. Anyway Good Job thomas! Looking good as always!
Great review as always Thomas! At 54:58 just wow, you can really see how big is the 3rd gen X5 compared to the 1st gen when these are next to each other. The 1st gen looks like baby X5 although it was huge when it came out.
I really like the interior, looks better than Mercedes and I also like the fact that they have kept the knob for controlling the iDrive. I think that Audi's decision to get rid of the Knob was a mistake
The harsh jolt in the lane keep assist is designed to wake a person up if they are drifting (falling asleep) off. It's not supposed to work so smoothly to where a person can stay asleep and the car continue moving unattended.
Thank you for these thorough videos. Learnt a lot just by seeing them. Between 2019 X5 and 2020 Defender, which one would you go for in terms of long term maintenance and reliability?

5:30. Looks so sporty with those black rims. I just ordered mine with the same rims in silver color. I didnt like them but got a good deal. I will definitely paint them in black.
Great review as always. You are the best. Nowadays, almost all SUV-s look similar in design. If you remove the logo from the back , would you guess this is BMW?.....
Explains a lot really since the X5 in built in America and was originally intended for the American (and now Chinese) market! I do find it a bit sad how the tastefully discreet European styling has been replaced by tacky and vulgar design to please these less socially evolved tastes but if thats what sells, then thats what they'll make :-/
Thomas, from what I can see, it appears the rear seat is set relatively high compared to the front seats, which may explain why knee room and head room don't seem as generous as they should be. But I guess it gives rear passengers a better view forward. Was that moisture at the bottom of the windshield, just above the dashboard? I could not really tell but it would have annoyed me for sure, had I been driving. Despite the relatively slow speeds you were driving at, it sounded like there was tire noise entering the cabin. As for the exterior design, the front end is very much BMW, but from the rear it really doesn't look like a BMW, in my opinion.
Tire noise was fine imho. Might be with the rear seats. Moisture came from the hot and humid outside, so water condensates on the lower outside windshield

Mike Roth Apple is much more secure with data than google. Apple goes to much further lengths to protect data (for example, they wouldn’t open the phone of the San Berdanido shooter because creating a loophole would hurt everyone else) Also, BMW can dictate whatever your buying. they are a company
Porsche has the same policy, they say that Android Auto monitors engine functions and much more data than needed for the function it provides compared to Apple. Car manufacturers feel that Alphabet will use this data to develop their own brand of self driving cars. It still did not make me switch from Android to Apple. I run Android Auto on my phone clipped to my air vent. Still better than Apple Carplay even though it is not displayed on the car screen.
Thank you Thomas for another great review, I am a huge BMW fan .the only thing I kind of didn't like about this car is the tail light because it looks like some of the Ford models
I agree. The tail lights on the new X5 are a significant departure from the traditional L shaped on many late BMW models. Many American and Asian cars have similar tail lights.
