Here in commieland of Canaduh, our CAF used to have LAV 3's which is the same truck but with a 25mm bushmaster in a turret sitting on top the truck. The technical manuals for repairing these trucks, the official designation is "8 wheeled all wheel drive, urban combat vehicle, with off road compatibility" But we use them like it's only for off road. Turns out they can make it through some shitty terrain.

The dollar figure represents the value of equipment sent. I’m not sure if that value is measured by the price of equipment as new or current market value but it doesn’t matter. The Stryker is on its way out, sure, they could sell em and make some money. But Canada’s LAV III and VI (the chassis the Stryker is based on) are far better sellers and those things would just end up sitting in storage gathering dust until some tin pot country decided to buy a handful for maybe a few hundred grand a pop. Or just donate em, they’re off the books, working towards your nations interest, and now you can pay Americans to build and deliver new equipment. If anything it’s a 2.5 billion investment back into the U.S. economy and Defense industry.

Strykers will be used differently compared to tanks, so I'd expect to see them experience losses similar to Bradleys or other IFVs 90 vehicles should at least mean Ukraine will at least use them on the frontline, unlike the other MBTs they received

I love strykers! They are a bit finicky but with good maintenance they are pretty effective vehicles. I was a ESV Stryker Soldier for 4 years. I just hope Ukraine can maintain them.

It's the same chassis. The US Army just pulled the turret off, so unlike a LAV-III(which needs to be reassembled), the Strykers can roll off a transport plane ready for combat. The US is retiring them anyway, so this is actually a great use for them. Now they won't have to spend money to store and maintain them with the rest of their mothballed equipment.
In Europe they are the MOWAG Pirhana, and in most variants exactly the same as the US vehicles. The Yanks were getting rid of them anyway, so at least this is putting them to good use. Usually quite effective if deployed correctly, and not used to take on modern tanks for example.

I managed a Domino's Pizza in the DC metro area in the 1990 buildup to the Gulf War.. One night going home after closing, around 02:00, I got caught at an RR crossing. I thought it must be a commercial freight train at that late hour. Nope, it was three LONG-ASSED trains with nothing but Strykers. Must've been headed for B'more or Newark. They cruised by at about 45 - 50 mph, but it still took about 20 minutes for all three to pass.
Hope they’re ready to get their purple hearts. As a former crunchy who rode in those, give me a Bradley fighting vehicle any day of the week over putting me in one of those death traps again.
So far this has been the worst APC in the entire conflict, they explode when hit by a drone or artillery shell killing everyone on-board, probably due to all the ammunition stored inside.
