I love the Novablast 3 as it has enough cushioning for easy runs to long runs. And I chose the TR version as I like to run both on road and in our local nature parks. The TR version runs good on road too. I would not even bother with the regular version
Yeah, the TR is widely recommended. Another pro is that they last longer since they have more outsole rubber. Just snagged a pair for about 100 bucks :) Which colorway did you get?
I have both. The novablast 3 felt good for the first 100k but subsequently seems to have lost it,s bounce and return, the TR however feels better on tarmac as well as trails. It seems to allow more roll through to toe off, for mid or forefoot runners. Not sure why it’s so much better, unless I have a duff pair of Nova 3’s.
Unfortunately the outsole traction on wet roads is really poor in the Novablast 3. Not sure why they changed the outsole compound compared to the version 1, but the version 3 is a disappointment when it comes to that.
Hello! At 5:20 you say, 'when the ground gets a bit harder to maintain control on, and it does that very well.' i couldn't understand you properly. Are you saying that the shoe is good to run on wet roads? Also, follow up question: i am doing a HM during the rains with 10 kilometers (almost 6 miles) of downhill road running. Would you recommend this shoe?
I think large majority will need to downsize by half on this shoe unless you have a really big instep. Why? Bc the insole on my 9.0 TR is almost identical length to my kinvara size 10 🤔
The South Downs are the hills that follow a length of the south coast of England. A mixture of woodland, fields, semi-rocky inclines and a lot of mud in winter.
Very useful - thanks chaps. Was looking for a replacement for my Novablast 2, which I loved, with my only gripe being grip on the wet, so it is the TR for me. Well aware that it will not cope with the clay mud we have in my neck of the woods in Kent, but that's what my trusty Inov8s are for.
I am very interested in this shoe, but currently run in the Nimbus 23. I have googled "asics tr" and it seems that all Asics "road" models (cumulus, nimbus, gt...) have their TR counterpart. Any idea why there are no news reviews on those shoes? I would like to see a couple of Nimbus 24 TR reviews but there are none.
I’ve been waiting for Spring to get the TR shoes but now the Nimbus 25s are getting great reviews too so now I’m not sure what to get! It does sound like the Nimbus 25s aren’t the best option for even light trails
I’d say not the puma grip is much better, I have the deviate nitro 2 and Tr Novablast. The outsole is what let’s the Novablast down imho, not terrible but still not super grippy. The puma grip is superior in all use cases
@@darksky117 me personally I preferred the deviate nitro 2 for most use cases, other than really easy runs (which it still handles you just end up going a bit quick) I didn’t get really get on with the Novablast in the end.

Its the trampoline pod in the forefoot. The novablast has been like this since version one. I suppose its to aid in the transition at the end of push off. It falls over a bit agressively. I kinda like it but it feels very special. If you got pronation issues it could worsen that. I land laterally though. For me it just speeds up the last bit of pronation at the end of the gait cycle.
Great Review Gents. Asics is up to something here, on their site there's also a Gel Nimbus 24 TR, that would be a interesting shoe battle; NB3's TR vs Gel Nimbus 24 TR
I had the Novablast 2 and had a lot of issues in the winter with slippery roads, if I'm primarily using the novablast 3 for the roads maybe some lighter trails but live in an area where this winter the pavement will get wet and slushy, do you think this would be a good option?
Thank you! I’ve been so curious about the NovaBlast 3 because people talk about it like it’s the second coming of Christ. I’m really liking my Nike Zoomx Invincible (that I got for $100 dollars) for my easy days & kept thinking, “Maybe the NovaBlast 3 is better” & my FOMO was kicking in. I hated the NB 2 so I appreciate you talking me off the ledge w the 3. I don’t need another pair of shoes.
What did you hate about novablast 2? I love the nb3 but if you hated the last version you will probably dislike the 3 also.. They feel pretty similar, similar rocker design, pretty steep fall in the forefoot, soft midsole with a lot of compression. The 3 is a tad bouncier, basically as soft as it breaks in after a couple of miles. I dont weigh alot so it took me 2 runs to soften up.
@@ZenDao_85 They felt like clown shoes. Too much shoe for me. I ended up sizing down and tried the NB3. It was better than the 2, but I like my Nike Zoomx Invincibles more.

I won't be taking anything that resembles a novablast off road, but I am considering the TR version for on the road, when it's too wet to take my regular 2 or 3 out. I'm still not sure whether the TR could handle that though.
I am running in the trail version in wet local fall conditions. Fall here is wet roads and wet leaves ; I run a lot on gravel road style park trails. Only light mud and only slight uneven terrain and the tr version does very well on this. Too unstable for real tough trails .
@@pbnotj1 Thanks! I really like the novablasts, but am running in the same conditions as you, so it's good to know that the TR will be fine for my needs. Since the only difference is the outsole, I agree that the novablast is too unstable for anything challenging.
I am curious Tom, Novablast 3 or Triumph 20. I love the Triumph line, but I can only afford one in the budget. My friend loves the Novablast 3 and the choice is stressing me out. Lol 😂

TR looks to be an awesome road to trail shoe.
We need the Trabuco outsole with this midsole.
Word.. the asicsgrip rubber on the fujis, trabucos and the metaspeeds.. its the best in the industry.. on par with pumagrip
How was the TR in treadmill?
