You know pokemon already had competition before, there things like "digimon" and "monster rancher " but pokemon still prevail as the winner of creature collecting game.
The Monster Taming Genre exists! Just that stupid Game Journalists refer to these as pOkEmOn cLoNeS. Check out Gym Leader Ed he has a channel dedicated to Monster Taming highly recommend.
genre is pretty much monopolized by Pokemon at this point. Big companies don't want to make direct competitors because they know it's just futile. Indie devs tried to crack it, but it's just impossible for their scale. Don't expect anything groundbreaking in the genre. People still line up to buy a game that's becoming worse and worse with every release.
@@premiumbot3991 Pokemon is the winner of this monster collecting competition that was rampant many years ago, saying there is no competition to pokemon is just false. Many Indie games monster collecting games are unappealing, really.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 also came out this year on the Switch and it looks and performs so much better than the new Pokemon games. It also features a vast open world with monsters roaming around. The direct comparison was right there and none of you are weebs enough to say it 😤
The fact that the actual game is fun.. battles.. the pokemon list...models.. the world..makes me even more pissed on how much shit the game is..got my refound and not touching this glitchy game for a while. Yeah, the level progression in SV is impossible to navigate. There's no clear indications of the level of an area beyond some context clues like higher evolutions and the zone indicators, and even then you can get thrown curve balls. I finished exploring the first city (the one with the school), and found this cave looking entrance in it. I walked through and found myself on some mountain path. The wild Pokemon were appropriately leveled in the teens, and the first trainer I bumped into had a Pokemon in the teens as well. So I started following the path and spot a PokeCenter and building in the distance, so I continue down the path and see another trainer. I start a battle with that trainer and he throws out a Pokemon in the mid-50s, around 4 times my Pokemons' levels. Turns out the building I saw is the Pokemon League where you go after beating all the gyms. But other than that one trainer, everything else on that path had its level in the teens.
It's mostly 'the further you are from Mesagoza, the harder it gets'. Specific locations tend to have higher level mons (like the desert). I for one welcome the opportunity to actually get beaten in Pokemon, it's a welcome change (looking at you X and Y), though I definitely get being frustrated by running into someone with level 50 Pokemon. I haven't really had that happen, though, but I also didn't walk towards the League haha.
Yeah the whole quality thing really does come down to sales. Bruce is right, just don't buy the new games if they are super buggy and broken. Especially on launch day without knowing the quality. But trends show that people will buy them pretty much regardless. And they must be doing something right considering pokemon games don't really depreciate in value with time. If anything they get more expensive.
It's because each game has a unique gimmick they never use again. Like Dynamaxing, Mega Evolutions, etc etc. At this point for me watching the Pokemon fandom complain about their pokemon games and still playing them makes me think their in a Relationship of Neglect with Nintendo. As long as they keep pumping out the games their ok no matter how repetitive, broken and stupid some of them can get.
I went to the midnight release and it was more packed with people than the ragnarock, bayonetta3 and mw2 midnight launches combined. Probably close to 200 people. You will never stop the juggernaut that is pokemon.
Because most Pokemon fans (and this extends to almost every instance of "if you don't like it don't buy it") aren't looking up articles about why the new entry into their favorite franchise sucks. They balance having enough new/cool stuff (open world) to keep the average player interested while weighing the cost of how broken of a game they can get away with.
Why it's bad: -Graphics (Textures and Animations) -People (Most trainers Mostly gym leaders] are often either weird, bisexual or straight up disturbing, for instance the electro gym leader) -Story (Team Star? Really?) Dissapointment of the century. Shame they decided to let the also very bad game Pokémon Legends: Arceus have so much influence here.
●Poor framerates ●Bad textures ●Non-enterable buildings ●only ~400/over 1000 total Pokemon are in the game ●No turning off Exp. Share ●No changing outfits ●No turning off the "switch pokemon?" prompt ●No turning off battle animations ●Slow battles in general ●No battle tower/frontier ●NO LEVEL SCALING ●no voice acting What am I missing? I know there's plenty
Everyone noticing a trend here? AAA games are all about the money, indie devs are all about the consumer. Indie games are thriving more than ever right now.
Want to know what is the problem with those games coming out broken and buggy.... Because people keeps buying the broken and buggy game over and over again. Stop letting them getting away with that BS and you will see a change, if not...then keep getting the same buggy games. Edit: Bruce said it better at the end🤣
I've only been playing it for a few hours now, but there are some really annoying UX choices that just astound me so far as it even feels like it's a beta version of sword and shield.

The Achilles of Gen 9 are imo some of the incredibly weak, poorly executed Pokemon designs. The best Pokemon in Gen 9 are remakes of mons from previous gens, and the cross-gen evolutions. The starters have the weakest designs of any starters thus far. The pseudo legendary looks half-assed. There are Pokemon that look like they're copied and pasted from PC games. There's a Minecraft pokemon. There's a string cheese pokemon. People will say "Well gen 1 has a seal named seel." But gen 1 was the first, back before all the success. And at least the uninspired mons from gen 1 were better executed/designed. Gen 9 has no excuse for this. It's okay to prolong Pokemon releases. Go develop other titles until that creative energy that gave us the best Pokemon flows back organically. They need to stop putting all this pressure on the developers; truly another good example of how capitalism can kill true innovation and creativity. And this is coming from a dear, dear Pokemon fanatic. But as much as I love them, I can't accept the obvious low quality for profit mess being encouraged over quality and longevity.
Gameplay wise the game is really nice. The multiplayer works pretty seamlessly and there’s a bunch of quality of life improvements but even the most “I don’t care about graphics” person will start getting frustrated with the framerate of the game after playing for a few hours and seeing the camera clip under the map when battling wild Pokémon 50% of the time. I really hope they can come up with some crazy patch to help performance. One complaint I have about the mp tho is that it usually feels like your all just playing alone together rather than actually playing together. You can’t double battle wild Pokémon or do anything interesting like that and the minimap just doesn’t work moving icons all over the place and it doesn’t even show other players locations on it. Overall the game needed way more time in the oven
100% agree with everything you said. I feel as though this game should have stayed in development and released as a launch title for nintendos next console. Edit: Imagine the first truly open world pokemon game being released as a bundle with the next generation Nintendo system? I would have felt like a kid in elementary school waiting for the bell to ring so my dad can take me to Toys R Us for a Gameboy advance and pokemon emerald. Aha
@@MIBxSpartan The worst part is that while yes, the switch IS underpowered, even it should be more than capable of handling a game like this with zero difficulty. Just look at Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild! Those games run just fine on the switch and are arguably more hardware intensive than a Pokemon game should ever be. The problem is definitely on Gamefreak's end. They really, really need to cut out this garbage "one new game per year" thing they've been doing with the franchise and give us it solid 3 or 4 year break to make the best new Pokemon game that they can. Too bad idiots will still buy the yearly games anyway and thereby incentivise Gamefreak to keep doing it anyways, even if the games' quality suffers for it...

Yes Pokemon fans let's keep blaming Game Freak and not Nintendo who has final say over the decision of whether to publish this trash games in their platform on top of being the largest owners of the IP they own all the trademarks of the Pokemon franchise.
Bruce seems right at the end, to tell ppl to stop buying these games. This may be my last pokemon game for a while. I'm starting to look like the Call of Duty and Madden fan boys lol
So while the quality is always of lack luster it’s not just the fact that they make smaller teams make these games it’s a mixture of also the fact that Pokémon is a multi media empire. If anything it’s more likely the reason why this keeps happening is because game freak is always expected to release a Pokémon game to coincide the anime, the trading cards and the merch. Because of that they have an extremely strict dev time which ends up with us getting these messes of a games. Love the vid btw!
If they want to do fast releases maybe they should utilize all of their staff instead of splitting them for the greed of 2 games. They did this with Let's Go and Sw/Sh, and now PLA and S/V. Due to this none of the games reach the potential they otherwise would have.

The people who call themselves long time Pokemon fans, complain about the games, and then play them anyways are some of the most annoying people in the community. Like the amount of Poketubers who straight up said they were skipping Sword and Shield, to only go "Well I was going to avoid them, but because I'm a Pokemon UA-camr I will play it for you guys so you don't need to buy it" is just too funny. You can easily say that you should just not buy the games, but people are going to do it anyways because they need it. Even if Sword and Shield did something so toxic that pokemon did before but none of them remember it, in not having a national dex. Even if the Remake to what some people claim to be the best Gen in 4 comes out and it's just beyond mediocre, People will continue to buy it, because if they don't they will lose their mind. It's like a hardcore drug. As for me, I think the game is fine. I have been enjoying it as I slowly go through each area. I have yet to run into any issues that other people are talking about. No insane slowdowns or freezing, no issues running into pokemon 10 levels or more above me or anything like that. The only people I know of who had these issues were either playing on Yuzu or in handheld mode.
@Hector Barreda the world has quite a lot of content, ive spent countless hours doing regular pokemon things. The issue is that the game is so laggy it effects the enjoyment
People should know when to stop supporting a company. If they kept on reusing the same asset and kept on getting away with bugs and glitches, that’s when you should stop. Supporting this practice encourages low quality products being sold due to the brand.
So the excuse for sending out ... garbage is that it's not their specialty? What if Gamefreak is not responsible for the game? So what's the excuse? The world's most terrible restaurant. Instead of bread on the table, there is dough. A rotten shrimp cocktail. Raw chicken in cold poisonous mushroom sauce. And as dessert, the waiter shits in the chef's diarrhea. And people still think it's the best restaurant on the market. With Sword and Shield, they blamed the fans for making unfinished crap, and this time... they're blaming Nintendo. Of course. I also heard that they are working on a DLC already. You know when Gamefreak ran out of excuses for not having voice actors for all pokemon? Generation 3!
If the game stinks, just don't buy it. I noped out of the main games in the franchise because Sword & Shield's statement of not including all Pokemon. Meanwhile, Bandai is like hold my beer I'm giving you ALL the Digimon and new ones! I thought the regional variants would be a work around for when there are too many Pokemon to include, but somehow GameFreak dropped the ball on that with this game too.
This is the first pokemon game I haven't bought on day 1 since gen 5 when I was making my own money. I can't wrap my head around taking random encounters out like they have been doing since SwSh, which I couldn't even complete due to being bored to death with it

I skipped Sw/Sh until two year after release, and it was too boring for me to finish. Played Arceus and absolutely loved it. The best bit of that game, is how you can do so much so quickly and easily. I've genuinely enjoyed what I've experienced in Sc/Vi, but the removed so much of the snappy and speedy transitions and options. I get not being about to catch Pokémon outside of battles... But the battles.... Are so slow! Opening menus... So slow! I wish PC Switch emulators were further along in development. Pokémon is wasted on the Switch. If you're on the fence about buying and will most likely play alone.. Just wait.. Maybe buy it used, in the new year(after some patches, hopefully). I only bought now to play with my Nephews.
I loved the fact for LA that we could just walk around during battle and if we got too close during attacks, we would actually get hurt! Turning LA into a true open world game would be absolutely amazing and I'd even pay top dollar for it best experience ever!
Forgot to mention this but "Frostbite" was a huge thing for me in LA since it cut SPATK in half like burn does for Atk. Would've love to see that in competitive

I would say great take on the Pokemon games. It really isnt up to snuff. But i never really cared personally. Once you get to the first Pokestop in the game you can than play with friends. And since the first gen. That has always been something i wanted to see in a main series game. Im currently playing Scarlett on a basic switch. Playing on a 60 inch tv and it looks wonderful. Ill admit its not the best. But ive always valued gameplay over graphics in games. And i absolutely love the open world of the game. I left Mesagoza and challenged a trainer that had a Mudbray that bodied my whole team. Was a shock to see that happen because i dont remember that last time i lost a Pokemon battle against another trainer. It just meant i had to go train my pokemon to beat him. I'm enjoying the core experience, i fkin love Pokémon so it's kinda hard not to.. But the amount of money they make.. It's shocking.
I really don't understand all of you. Have you not played Arceus? Its the same thing. Drop frames, glitching terrain, low texture, low fps animation from a distance. Watching Gyarados fly in that game was hilarious because it would be smooth and then move like it only had 3 joints in its body. Sure, the lag wasn't as bad and consistent but this game is much bigger. The core game is fantastic. Much better than Sword and Shield. I have a feeling the engine GameFreak is using is not the best for Switch hardware and from a business perspective, it would cost more to change it, and they don't even have to because these games still sell phenomenally well. From what I have read, there is a potential memory leak in the game that could be patched and fix some of the lag issues. But that will not get rid of the low fps animations and resolution during gameplay as those are design choices made by gamefreak to keep the game running to as close to 30 fps as possible. They're not broken, they're not unfinished. That is how they are made. If you want more polished pokemon games with locked 30 fps and better resource optimization, you need a new developer. Until then, the majority of Pokemon players will still play these games regardless.
I was battling 40-50 level alpha Pokémon with low level 30ish you just need type advantage maybe status effects (thunder wave is great) and if you can pull it off it slingshots your exp until you pass or at least meet the standard levels without nearly as much grinding

It's not a matter of hardware, it's a matter of poor development. There are plenty of impressive open world games that play and look great in the Switch. TPC just fucking sucks.

The game is actually very impressive underneath the poor performance and glitches. Probably the first Pokemon game with a 'soul' since Black and White.
What can we do as a community, to fix Pokémon games? Or how can we force game freak to patch the game? It's so sad Bad graphics are fine to me, but not performance 😩
The fact that the switch being 5 years old and running games like Bayo 3 and the soon to arrive BOTW 2 speaks volumes as to the small console's capabilities. I disagree that the switch is the problem when GF and such are the ones not expanding their dev teams and going out to learn to better themselves. To be such a closed knit group without so much as to see the painfully visible holes in their logic shows how stubborn they are to let others in. The fact that a multi-billion dollar company that was put on the map because of its games it made before all the mech appeared I find it ironic that they crap on the ONE thing that got them to where they are. I hope someone emulates the games so I don't have to pay a cent for this at all.
Dq 11 and Breath of the Wild had little to no problems, gamefreak doesn't have any excuse that can explain how bad these games run. It's not the hardware it's gamefreak. I've been saying since the release date was announced, these games were going to be a mess they aren't taking enough time to make a great game.
Pokemon is already a simple games with just simple mechanics. This isn't FromSoftware level of design where there are precise hitboxes and still you can't spend a little bit of money to improve it. It's Pokemon, a well known and beloved brand so you already have a huge audience. Atleast do more effort and spend some money to make a good game. Also for buyers, just give it a bit of time after release to see if the game is worth it or not. This is what i do with most of my games.
Many people should loved Meowth culture But Mascot Pikachu doesn't isn't Perfect and Meowth would fitting in this entire country based off real life Cat's But Pikachu isn't native to that region At all But I'm concerned how Meowth could fit the mascot hallo kitty - Rainbow Nayan as well as Internet CAt Rule's the region of Earth 🌎🌍👑🐈
This is what happens when a game has no direct competitor.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 also came out this year on the Switch and it looks and performs so much better than the new Pokemon games. It also features a vast open world with monsters roaming around. The direct comparison was right there and none of you are weebs enough to say it 😤
Hell, XC2 came out years ago at the front-end of the Switch's lifecycle, and IT looks and runs better than these Pokemon games.
Smt 5 came out last year on the switch and it looks better than the new pokemon and its in the same genre as pokemon.
XC3 is proof that the switch is not as weak as a lot of people make it out to be.
They spent all their time perfecting the tera raid battle poke ball throw animation, clearly
And it is perfect
Pokémon games exist to sell more toys. They are no different than 80's cartoons.
Why it's bad:
-Graphics (Textures and Animations)
-People (Most trainers Mostly gym leaders] are often either weird, bisexual or straight up disturbing, for instance the electro gym leader)
-Story (Team Star? Really?)
Dissapointment of the century. Shame they decided to let the also very bad game Pokémon Legends: Arceus have so much influence here.
Finally, brave gamers
●Poor framerates
●Bad textures
●Non-enterable buildings
●only ~400/over 1000 total Pokemon are in the game
●No turning off Exp. Share
●No changing outfits
●No turning off the "switch pokemon?" prompt
●No turning off battle animations
●Slow battles in general
●No battle tower/frontier
●NO LEVEL SCALING
●no voice acting
What am I missing? I know there's plenty
They brought back tms being one time use… this game is just not built for anyone that enjoys playing competitive. What a step backwards
Everyone noticing a trend here? AAA games are all about the money, indie devs are all about the consumer. Indie games are thriving more than ever right now.
The game is really good but the performance is just unexcusable for a multi billion dollar company
Lol pokemon fans are a different breed of eating up slop

Raking it in since '96.
This is what happens when you only give them 2 years to work on an open world game.
Also co-develop ANOTHER open world game at the same time to release 9 months early because both are going to sell well regardless

Well Nintendo also for once in their life needs to come out with hardware thats not ancient and underpowered.
100% agree with everything you said. I feel as though this game should have stayed in development and released as a launch title for nintendos next console.

The problem is definitely on Gamefreak's end. They really, really need to cut out this garbage "one new game per year" thing they've been doing with the franchise and give us it solid 3 or 4 year break to make the best new Pokemon game that they can.

It's the se linear game but this time with a bigger map just to make it more boring.the map is not open world you can't just go to any gym wherever you want .the map only has two linear paths to go down .there is a crater to not let you go wherever you want
What? Literally every previous generation is better than gen 9 😂
I'm going to recommend some Pokemon games for you:
Emerald!!!
Platinum!!!!!
Black 2 or White 2
Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon
Anyone who's buying the dam game , you are the problem!!
Well I’m probably not going to get Gen 9 after all so I’m glad that I didn’t play it lol.
This game really did bring back that original excitement for the game i had all those years ago. But i understand if others just cant enjoy this generation as is.

@@DrSwitchDisrespectParody well im sorry you dont like it. But i have plenty fun with it. Plenty of games on the system that has made playing on it worth it. And the steam deck does seem cool, but there isnt really anything on it that i want to get it for. But hey you never know what the future holds.

Who wants a underpowered trash 30fps kiddy piece of crap plastic from China that Nintendo know is going to ruin like the corporate leaders that be, Doug Bowser.
Companies are not your friends so stop consuming their practices and speak out Nintendrone hahahahahaha
I LOVE how gamefreaks's excuse to not add voice acting is to maintain immersion in the game. but HOW the fuck can we stay immersed in a broken game like this?
Proves that Nintendo switch is garbage and you need to get a steam deck Nintendrone corporate slave fanboy lmaoooooooooo
This game runs on 7fps but I can catch cool monsters so 10/10
Sonic open world is starting to look better 😂😂😂
Ultimately, its all about everything else. The TCG, toys and plush, anime and manga and everything else depends on the next main game releasing, and that's why they have such a hard release date as to not effect every other piece of the multimedia pie. They boxed themselves in and can not delay, even to polish compared to something like BOTW2 which can be delayed all they want because there aren't 5 other businesses lined up to release product with the launch of that game. That and yeah, these games are designed for kids, and kids don't care about frame rates or performance, they just want the latest and greatest Pokemon game and parents will keep buying.
blame the share holders for the pokemon franchise that control the realease dates for a new pokmeon gen.since the share holders priortize the pokemon anime, pokemon trading cards and pokemon merchandise.the share holders are the reasons game freak has to pump out new pokemon games all the damn time with no set backs.share holders prioartize merchandise, anime, and trading cards assoioted with the product on game release.look what happend with devs of cyberpunk 2077 the share holders wanted the deadline for cyberpunk 2077 on time for profit.the devs of cyberpunk 2077 wanted to extend dev time ,but their share holders wanted the money on realease for profit gain.game freak can not argue with theire share holders since the pokmeon anime, trading card game ,and new pokemon gen merchandise need those scheadul realeases for sponsership and future product placements.game devs can not argue with their share holders or hell might ensue.Game freak should do what the father of final fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi did and push what they need to do for the pokemon video games even if their share holders want to fire some employes to get the message arcross.
i gotta be honest, seeing Sword and Shield rated so highly makes me not really care about the review scores to any degree lol
but yes... gamefreak could do muchhhhh better with the technical aspects in S&V...
I mean id have given Sword and Shield a 7.5/10 it was pretty fun. Just hated the gigantomax etc and competitive.
"Why not finish them?"
"It's money."
Regarding the highest grossing franchise in the world...
NGL... The flipping between 3 people (seems like they're each reading different parts of the same piece of paper) is annoying AF and bad video in general. Oof.
I don't know why people playing the same Pokemon game every time all you do is catching the same Pokemons every time it's like FIFA games it's the same game every year all they want is your money. To me I liked Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon SoulSilver these are the best Pokemon games and after that I never bothered wasting my time with any other Pokemon game
Blinded by hype possibly? Who knows
is that a transformer in disguise?
I mean sword and shield is still good
Where's Brian?
Gastrodon is best boi/gurl!
I can look passed a few problems here and there, BUT the frames, texture pop, animations AND there's this really dumb delay in battle initiation. Not to mention how many times my cameras been through the floor. The wide pan into the landscape has been extremely cringe. Although at times it can be funny, it's just unacceptable.
It is wild, WILD, that after 5 years their still hasn't been switch hardware update. Meanwhile both competitor consoles came out with a new generation, and the PC bros even got the Steam Deck. That being said, it's crazy that GF has less than 200 employees. Hate to say it, but Nintendo might need to sweep in monopoly man style...
It's not a matter of hardware, it's a matter of poor development. There are plenty of impressive open world games that play and look great in the Switch. TPC just fucking sucks.
With the size of profits that Nintendo makes off Pokémon, and they only have 200 employees? If that's true then they need to reorganize the company and idk expanded it with the unlimited profits
Proves that Nintendo switch is garbage. Get a steam deck instead Nintendrone corporate slave fanboy lmaoooooooooo
@@Maartwo even if there are good games that function on the Switch, it still doesn't change the fact that the rest of the gaming scene has passed the system up since its release. While I can't think of a time when Nintendo has put out on updated console within a generation, they did it with handhelds all the time. Don't see why the switch would be any different.
@@DrSwitchDisrespectParody oh great, a Gaymer... why yes, I also have riches to spend.
why are people's standards for Pokémon games so low? these look so damn boring... pokemon had character for the first few gens, and then with few exception it just got more boring and cash grabby, tbh i only really like the actual pokemon from gen 1 and a few from gen 2...
There have absolutely been worse mainline pokemon games, absolutely, no question.
Sword and Shield... Sure. The rest? No.
The game is actually very impressive underneath the poor performance and glitches. Probably the first Pokemon game with a 'soul' since Black and White.
But not a bad Pokémon game until now which is Scarlet and Violet the worst looking game ever since the first trailer due to graphics lol.
Monster hunter stories 2 did it way better
What can we do as a community, to fix Pokémon games? Or how can we force game freak to patch the game?
It's so sad
Bad graphics are fine to me, but not performance 😩
Everybody gave cod shit but pokemon fans are the same type of fans for a different franchise tbh
Die hard even if the game if game fumbles

Charlotte: I'm Irish American
Me, an irishman: i like this charcter development
These are definitely NOT the worst Pokémon games
Ash fianly wins the big one and the two new Pokémon games launched as bug fest. They might have cursed themselves.
I like when they went inside games. Epic
No point in telling Pokémon fans to stop. They just spent a week explaining why it's still a good game.
The other dude reminds me of a Bogdanoff brother
Dq 11 and Breath of the Wild had little to no problems, gamefreak doesn't have any excuse that can explain how bad these games run. It's not the hardware it's gamefreak. I've been saying since the release date was announced, these games were going to be a mess they aren't taking enough time to make a great game.
I would not call this the worst game ever. I wouldn't call it an improvement from Arceus either
Would be great if they did a remake of fire red
Pokemon is already a simple games with just simple mechanics. This isn't FromSoftware level of design where there are precise hitboxes and still you can't spend a little bit of money to improve it. It's Pokemon, a well known and beloved brand so you already have a huge audience. Atleast do more effort and spend some money to make a good game.
Also for buyers, just give it a bit of time after release to see if the game is worth it or not. This is what i do with most of my games.
Many people should loved Meowth culture
But Mascot Pikachu doesn't isn't Perfect and Meowth would fitting in this entire country based off real life Cat's
But Pikachu isn't native to that region At all
But I'm concerned how Meowth could fit the mascot hallo kitty - Rainbow Nayan as well as Internet CAt Rule's the region of Earth 🌎🌍👑🐈
Am I the only one who hates the Pokémon turning into different vehicles? They look like natural Pokémon and not like an electric or steel Pokémon
After i finish scarlet I'm heading back into my Legends Arceus, the ability to catch without battle is just too fun to give up for me
Worst Pokemon game ever.
