Don’t you just love it when an artist discovers something new and is generous enough to let the rest of us know? Lone is so imaginative and talented.

I am in Canada and I ordered the white posca pencils from Marker Supply in Nashville TN. They only took about a week and a half to arrive. Hope that helps

Have you tried Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils in this way?

Interesting masking technique. Posca pencils are oil and wax based colored pencils and Primacolor Premiere are wax based colored pencils. If both work, I'd be willing to bet other softer leaded pencils will work also. I have several different pencils of both oil and waxed based and I'll be trying all of them to see which of mine work best. The softest wax based ones I have are the Caran'dache Luminance and softest oil based I have are the Derwent Lightfast, but I have a few others of each base to try also. I think you hit it on the head with a hard surface underneath so the pencil indents the substrate as little as possible is probably the key. If anyone else is going to try this, be aware that different brands of colored pencil have different hardnesses for specific reasons. Hard colored pencils will likely indent the paper and not give you the buildup of media to be the resist you want for the alcohol ink.

there is a reason why I chose to show my technique with posca pencil.
in my first video where I show the technique, I write in the description what problems I encountered.
I use a different varnish coat for my pieces and it was a problem with some of the other products I tried.
in posca pencil there is a slightly larger proportion of oil than wax.
it ended up making the difference for me.

@@ziminoart7889Oh cool will subscribe to your channel too :D found two new channels from one video 🤗 I was considering trying alcohol ink with my pencils and was curious if this technique wouod work alright if the paper was gessoed? Or how it would do on bare or gessoed canvas? This is the first I've looked into alcohol ink so I'm completely new x.x I have prismas but haven't tried the poscas before. If I end up liking the ink I think I'll invest in some poscas 🤗 edit: would alcohol ink work on Amazon paper?

I don't understand, I found the Posca pencils 36 set with no problems on Amazon in the US and you can also find the set at other art stores. And everybody in the US knows what Prismacolor pencils are, you don't need to explain in detail, these are the most popular pencils. I don't think Prismacolors can work the same because Posca pencils are a lot more opaque and have a much thicker core than Prismacolors. And of course you can only use a certain kind of paper. Yupo works the best.

They've been on Amazon, but the shipping was 3 weeks. Maybe its faster in some areas, though. I love the Posca pencils, but found they worked really close to the same way as Prismacolor on a hard surface. I love everything Posca provides, though! Huge fan of Posca pens.

This is absolutely stunning. Truly soothing and relaxing to watch your videos. Myself, I lost a passion, or it's better to say a connection to art. I have felt so guilty and weird about what happened, but I'd like to admit that I have been slowly finding a way back to it. Also, thanks to your videos, because they have been true inspiration and helped me to overcome my struggles. Thank you and wishing you the best :)

I had no luck getting the Prismacolors to work when I tried, but it's good to know it can be done. I ordered the Posca Pencils from Target and they're arriving tomorrow.

I tried..prisma premier just doesn't work like the ones Zimino shows. In fact, they didn't work like what you are shower. Maybe ought to change the surface I'm working on to harder

The hard surface I think makes a big difference. Also, you could try setting the Prismacolors in a warm area to see if they soften more.

Did you use Yupo paper? If not, what paper did you use? Nara paper didn't work for me (but then again, I used an oil pastel, not a pencil - used what I had on hand).

You have yo use Yupo paper, Nara will not work. I haven't tried the Grafix Opaque, I have to try that one. And it has to be a mixture of oil and wax based core, it has to be thick and opaque. So far only Posca pencils meet those criterias and they can be found very easily as a set in the US at different outlets even Target.

Just the info I was looking for! I tried and tried to find Posca pencils in the US and it was difficult, not to mention expensive! I already have a bunch of Prismacolor pencils so off I go to have some fun with my alcohol ink. Thanks for sharing this!

Le hic c'est que l'on ne sait pas si les contours des feuilles avec la Prisma Color Primer s'efface? Avec l'autre crayon qu'utilise Zimino, on peut effacer les lignes du crayon de cire et d'huile.
