Lol what significant changes other than one game mode being my league... I'm a yearly sports game buyer and none of them really make significant changes. Nba live has made significant changes this year but that's only cause it was so bad last year it can't go anywhere but up. Also madden 16 actually has improved a lot with their new controls and so many new fancy catch and break tackle animations it has improved a lot more than this too.

Just got this game back for my ps5 in disk edition. Everything is amazing about it, the graphics, the soundtrack, the gameplay. This game and 2k11 are the goat basketball games.

The thing is-
I hate the defense this year. Every player is suddenly Scotty Pippen. There's no reason delly from the cavs is blocking Kobe's dunk on a fast break. "You HAVE to run plays this year" ok that's about as fun as GTA saying you HAVE to put gas in your car this year
Also seems like the player reaction is delayed from the controller if you know what I mean.

Yes, you can definitely play this game offline, in fact, the servers are already down. Im not sure if you can play in the same team maybe in blacktop you can but in the exhibition game Im not so sure.

NBA 2K13 is still one of the best recent NBA 2K titles. Even though it wasn't that much of a simulator, it was a pick-up-and-play game for casual gamers and I spent countless hours on that game too.
John Anderson As being most recent it's 2K13, but as of this generation of the early to mid 2010's 2K11 takes the cake.
So you don't want to talk about the shit servers. Ok. You can't review this game without talking about the damn servers

+oldnbaschool they changed it for speed, but it takes time to get used to. Also using the right stick will allow only you to know what you pressed.
+Knxght [H4RD] Problem with the sticks is they are not as responsive as the D-Pad... Even calling plays I find myself having to flick the sticks multiple times before it registers.

The thing I found funny about the career mode is that it assumes you are going to make a black character because all your family are black on there so it was funny when I made a white character

Not a fan of sports games, never have been, never will be. Although, It's plainly obvious that this game is massively better then any other Basketball games I've seen before, The sweat running off the bodies looks almost real, the movement of the characters is believable, and the game play seems much more realistic before, with tactics that would be used in a real game, as opposed to cheating the game engine into doing impossible things to shoot hoops. It actually, makes me want to play this game, and that's saying something.
Who else think the graphics here are like nba 2k21 next gem

2K16 is revelation for sports video games. At least for me, the amount of work put out to elevate the drama, tension, mentality and court culture is so deserving of an award in and of itself. What matters most in an a NBA game is not the modes mind you. At the end of the day, it's the on-court experience that defines basketball. That alone makes 2K16 the best basketball game I've ever played. The A.I., the player physicality, the foot planting tech, the on-the-fly strategy adjustements, these are just the obvious things which stood out to me from the get-go. Taking into consideration the awesome soundtrack, well-acted story in career mode, and the plethora of options in customizations, man, 2015 is one freakin year for video games.
Nba 2k16 brings everything back memories in the history of 2k

A lot of games are becoming that way. It's like you purchase the game for full retail and if you want to purchase items faster, then they will want you to pay or you can earn coins by playing games in NBA 2k16. It seems fair.

Only the cpu defense is improved this year :( you teammates defense still sucks. Lebron who is one of the best defenders keep leaving his man open and sagging off him even if after i go to defensive settings and set it for him to smother and deny his man. They need to patch it.
And sometimes it sucks you into another guy and forces you to guard him

five october I've played NBA live 06(PC version) like 10 years ago. I also have played NBA 2k8. I just haven't played it in a long time. I can't remember the major difference between NBA 2k and NBA live.

2K said Curry in real life is better then his in game avatar, so his hold playstyle being reworked in 2k17 thus making him one of the most lethal video game basketball player ever.
The gameplay is extremely disappointing.Although 2k introduced new concepts like shot contests, going straight up, timing, etc, it negates those innovative additions with there forever 2k cheese. NO ONE CAN ESCAPE THE CHEESE!!!
1. Although they put the option of going straight up to contest a shot( which for casual basketball fans wouldn't know, is not a foul), 50% of the time the player still commits the foul which negates even having the new option.
2. With each patch the game gets less playable. For some sad reason, with each new update the game gets worse... Kinda counter productive, don't you think?
3. The passing animations are completely unrealistic and are nothing relevant to basketball and constantly defer from common laws of physics.
4. ETC this game is trash

The ps3 version weirdly enough allows you to be yourself. There is no documentary type movie flare to it but it is impressive.

Don't even address the god awful multiplayer servers. Defending is near-impossible, the shot bar doesn't fill up, passes are seconds late, and it's even hard to move with the incredible input lag. It's a good game, but they should definitively fix the servers before I even attempt at playing online.

I find it funny some people are complaining about changing race in story mode and calling Spike Lee a racist, when some people didn't mind sticking to a main protagonist in a RPG game...isn't it ironic?

This is the best 2K since 2k11. The most realistic 2K by far (basketball wise). I hope they wont ruin it by patching and makes shooting easier like 2k15 just for the casual "basketball" fans that are mad because they dont play real basketball and keeps popping 3s here and there and expect it to go in everytime

A solid 9, are you serious? This game is like no more than 6. Still having tons of unrealistic physics. 2K is claiming NBA 2K16 is the most realistic basketball game ever made, but I can't even make Kyrie Irving, maybe the best ballhandler current in the league, using his insane dribble moves to get rid of a slow center from the mismatch isolation in this game. How is that called realistic? It's like both defense and offense player glued together in the most time. And I remember in one of the trailer, developers
claim that in 2K16 every team has its playing style. That's a total lie!!! AI is still terrible as well. There are lots of chances your teammates just standing there, doing nothing, just watching you... Just like what happened in 2K14 and 2K15. 2K, They never put most of their time into patch these so faked details. All they do is adding more players into myteam and making pack as cheesy as possible, so you have to buy tons of vc to open packs. In Play Now mode, they even add a buy more wins option, really 2K??? All I found interesting in past few days is mypark, servers are much better comparing to last year.
And the most horrible thing in 2K16 is the story, that's really already beyond horrible, really Spike Lee??? REALLY?
Maybe you should do some more reviews in the upcoming weeks/months so you can add how the servers are repeatedly down and some game modes and features intermittently don't work! Might wait until the trade deadline for this one, where at least most of the bugs have been patched by then.
9 is great, but anybody who played last 2ks will give it a 10. park is lag free, defense is fixed and the soundtrack is great. we dont care too much about the mycareer story and all of that.
Bought this game last month for 30 bucks on Amazon. Yeah, I was late for the party... But dammit it was one of the best things I spent my dollar on in a very long time.. Thanks for the review!
