I just want to say, that I absolutely loved this movie and I went to the cinema several times to re-watch it. And every time, it was just such an unforgettable experience. Makoto Shinkai's animation work and cinematography is simply next-level. Also, I cried many times at the final scene: “Who are you, big sister?” - “I am your tomorrow” Just too good... (´;ω;`)
I'm sure you won't see this, but to me you are my hero. You inspired me to pick up the piano and stick with it when it's hard. The piano is a part of me and, although I know to you it's just a side effect of making videos, you really changed my life. I don't know if the word is apt, but watching you play... You just feel badass. I hope to reach your level one day, daunting as it is. I thank you for being you, for playing piano, for practicing for years, and for being my idol and hero.
Gosh Sky Over Tokyo😭didn’t expect that. I can still remember those scene vividly and sky over Tokyo just gave me goosebumps and left me speechless. That was the most memorable part for me. I was very very amazed by Radwimps ability in creating such a masterpiece. And the fact that now it’s being performed by Animenz makes me feel so thankful.
Right?? Such an underrated piece, the way the lights were reflecting off the windows of the high-rise buildings as if to the beat of the haunting soundtrack, the way the animals knew what was coming before the humans, the way we see the impending danger through the eyes of the crow, and the way at the final moments we see all of the people’s normal lives, seconds before disaster strikes, and the weight of what could be lost hits you…such a perfect scene 😭
When I saw that Animenz uploaded a new video tonight featuring the music from the animated film "Suzume no Tojimari" and it was an over 8 minutes medley, it brought not only surprise but also a multitude of complex emotions... Because on the day "Suzume no Tojimari" was released in theaters, I couldn't wait to go and watch it, and I ended up seeing it twice. I loved everything about it, from the storyline, visual design, theme songs, and the soundtrack. In the story, Suzume embarks on her journey, which is essentially a journey of reconciliation with her past and self-healing. When Suzume passes through that door and sees her childhood self, tears welled up in my eyes... My hometown is a city in Taiwan that was hit by a massive earthquake that shook the world in 1999. Since that day, both my hometown and my perspective on life have never been the same, unforgettable. The story and this soundtrack medley continuously evoke emotions, just like the door that opened and unleashed memories from my past. Regarding the performance of this suite, the third piece, "戸締まり," is the most memorable for me... The playing style at 3:50 is truly stunning, and from 6:00 onwards, the arrangement uses the piano keys to tell moving lines from the dialogue in the story: "I am your tomorrow." "You will also like others in the future and will meet many people who like you very much. Although you may feel dark now, the morning will always come!" From 6:35 to 6:50, the right hand repeats the rising scale, paving the way for the new life that is to come. It's like finally mustering the courage to let go of the past and move step by step towards the future we desire! What touched me the most is that whether it's director Makoto Shinkai or Animenz, they console us, the survivors, through the film's story and the piano, reminding us that we don't have to deliberately forget our pain, as what we thought was lost will forever remain in our hearts. From 7:41 until the end, this section is not found in other piano arrangements, like a signature that shows Animenz's personal style! (especially like the part played in the major key.) And it gives us an imaginary future full of hope and bright colors! I am grateful that Animenz didn't rely on flashy techniques in this medley. He chose to convey his sincere emotions, based on his understanding of this story, and told the audience in music about Suzume's mood transformation during this journey. I can only say that everything is just right💜
Thank you for making what you made. My little sister passed away 2 months ago and she loved the sound track 'Suzume no Tojimari' a lot, she also loved the movie. You made me remember some precious memories, Thank you.

Aww, this brought me to tears, the music in the movie was so powerful. The whole movie was so beautiful and I really felt the helplessness of Suzume when she thought she'd never see Souta again. I cried so much lol this piece is bringing back all those emotions

Its been a while since you did a medley which contains soundtracks from only one anime. Hopefully for more content like this in the near future. Arranging OST's really shows your full potential as an arranger. 3:27 and 6:00 are definitely my fave part of this arrangement. Those parts really gave goosebumps
Wow. Just like always, you've more than done this soundtrack justice. Even though Suzume as a whole didn't deliver as strongly for me as its acclaimed predecessors, the soundtrack definitely shined. [spoilers ahead] The entirety of the Sky Over Tokyo second movement gives me the same chills as when that scene played out in the movie. Each note strike feels intentional and the beating of the drums resonates strongly throughout the entire section, building up in a fever pitch until the harrowing silence as the earthquake worm is sealed. Perfect execution. And then when the final rolling arpeggios hit at 6:00, the emotions of Suzume consoling her younger self come rushing back. Thank you for this wonderful rendition.
A very beautiful piece composed yet once again! Really made me feel the vibes I felt in the cinemas especially during KANATA HALUKA at 6:50 . Definetly going to purchase this piano sheet even though I don't even have enough money for lunch. Overall this performance is top tier and once again, thank you for all your hard work :)
I just rewatch this again and again. The movie made me cry I was shocked at the end. “I’m not afraid to die. Whether you live or die is just a matter of luck.” I was lost in these movie…❤
Animenz, I don't know if you're seeing this, but this piece of yours are really magnificent and it stirs my heart. Keep on making more anime songs arrangement!
Animenz, thank you for your perfect arrangement and performance. Every time I watch your performance, I am always in admiration🌟 For today's Suzume soundtrack Medley, I found a few things that are different from your usual arrangement... The first is the bass part of Part 1, I noticed that the bass you used this time can be described as "quality over weight". It is really wonderful to use just the right bass to create the ethereal feeling of the singer's solo! In Part 2, you perfectly interpreted the treacherous feeling of the chorus with the piano, which is very ingenious! What I have to mention is the clean pedal stepping/release from 3:26~3:49, worthy of being a Steinway Artist (笑) When it came to Part 3: Closing the Door, I had to admit that this was the worst scene I've ever cried in a movie theater. Especially at 4:52, as soon as the faint but clear treble came out, it brought me back to the moment when Suzume was reluctant to close the door in the movie... No matter how many times I watched the scene, it was very worrying 😭 Finally, with the change of music style, we came to Part 4: KANATA HALUKA. This is the climax of the whole song. The low and firm Bass seems to tell Suzuya that the journey of continuing to move forward and bid farewell to the past will not stop, and it is also the greatest comfort to the victims of 311... Finally, thank you again for arranging such a wonderful suite, let our ears receive another baptism💙 Looking forward to your next work! Alan🚪
Oh my god i love this! You've given the best birthday present i have had in years!!!! This medley was so powerful that i forgot everything else and got immersed in this beautiful melody that you played so gracefully. You've made this my birthday ever !!🎉🎉 Love you animenz❤❤
You DEFINITELY succeeded in Part 2 of conveying both beauty and despair to the listener! WELL DONE; simply UHHHMAZING!! Although you can't see me, right now I'm giving you a standing ovation for this Medley 🩵🩵🩵🙏
Sky over Tokyo... Finally the COVER I WAS LOOKING FOR! It is by far one of my most favourite musical piece ever. Like the Buildup was just thrilling...
Haven't watched the movie yet but I heard it's great so I can't wait! I generally love the movies by Makoto Shinkai because I can really loose myself in the atmosphere he tends to create! Awesome arrangement, I was already enjoying it yesterday on your bilibili :3 I'm sure this'll hit different with the context of the movie so I'll have to come back to this after I've watched it!
Animenz covers are just so refined . The sound of each note echoes just perfectly, the feeling is a bit hard to comprehend but deep down it is profound that's for sure. It's fair to say that animenz arrangements and playing style is highly inspired by classical music, the musicality and repertoire says it all. Honestly speaking, I just admire this sort of work to a high extend but at the same time I do not wish to play like this either, I still wanna stay with my own playing style and repertoire and make it to a highly advanced level cuz originality is everything. This journey of ours is like a river, everyone choosing a different path to flow but in the end we all are going to meet in the ocean. Thank You Animenz for such great performances, you are the inspiration of thousands and millions, including me of course and to everyone reading this, Wishing you all the best with whatever that's going on in your lives! We all are going to make it to our dream!!
I'm so happy that I had an more casual day today then usually and was able to attend the premiere again! As always, I don't know what to write to express how much I admire your work.. So I just say: THANK YOU
Suzume's Soundtrack is a all time banger! I get chills everytime I hear it and Animenz played it perfectly. Seriously one of my favourite anime movie of all time
I recently bought the Suzume book to read, and I guess I will have to finish the book while listening to this. This is just beautiful and poetic (musically). Good job once again! By the way, if I only have 5 minutes limit to play this arrangement in front of the entire school, which parts do you think should I keep? Here are my thoughts of this arrangement: Part 1: Suzume: I like the as simple as possible thought process in 1:16 with a sustained left hand, followed by some difference in 1:35 with the left hand playing the sparkling melody in the originally that reminds me the first trailer release a year ago... Part 2: I like how the foreboding atmosphere is shaped with the high registers in the start, while the notes are constantly falling in pitch so convey a sense of deepness (just like how the worm is falling down) By the way, the staccatos in 3:26 gives me vibes from your Bios and I beg you arrangement, but seriously nothing beats your flexible hands-on 3:49 where the D and the E are well-timed played and ends in a foreboding way. Part 3: But nvm! It's a peaceful atmosphere. And also 4:53 is a perfect demonstration of "nothing the hardest piano pieces sounds the best", because it's just pure beauty although with dry octaves. The direction where the LH keeps descending and the RH keeps ascending really gives a really touching contrast, reminds me in the cinema watching when Suzume flips the notebook from 3.9 and 3.10 and then 3.11 onwards is purely black… Part 4: The keys speaks more than a million words. Just simple LH and octaves combo, followed by some scales, is enough to make a piano arrangement sounds like a museum of art. 7:41 is just giving me "Sincerely" vibes and speaks for Suzume's journey itself because the scales with the bass is just the perfect combo By the way, I bet 6:00 will be the most replayed part, if not is the major key ending of Suzume. Anyway, this is by far one of your most beautiful arrangements you've ever done Animenz! Your arranging skills have kept on improving over time.
This is such a beautiful arrangement. I love how clean the voicings are especially in the R.H., your technique is incredible. And a funny fact, You know a lot of these songs I tend to hear by Animenz before the actual song 😂 But nevertheless I enjoy them just the same, thank you for another amazing arrangement Animenz! Will definitely check out this song now 👀
While I am very much enamoured with placing the context of Earthquakes into the movies (the years for the door openings does correspond to major EQ in Japan in the past - the Geographer in me squealed during the movie), what really struck me is the social commentary of abandoned spaces in today’s world. The movie doesn’t quiet have the charm of Your Name, and Your Name will always have a special place in my heart, but I think this is his best work yet because it’s so relevant to today’s world and there’s a lot details and thought that reflects that. I am once again, impressed by Makoto Shinkai and his brand of storytelling. Thanks for the medley, it really did transport me to those moment in the movie

And crying a lot with overwhelmed haha. Main theme is memorable as everyone know from the start of the soundtrack. And my another fav one is KANATA HALUKA. Well, sorry if there is some grammatical errors here, I'm not fluent yet... hehe See, here's a music that can literally make you feel in heaven. Bro, I'm a guy that wants to become an classic Mangaka, but not for popularity, but to mark people happy and, maybe, a better society. Not alone, but with the effort of everyone that wants the same. People like you, that make an art of this level, really make my heart explode with such a variety of feelings... Your music, specially this one, is one of the "Strings of heaven", a collection of music's from a variety of artists that I really want to use as reference for some future soundtracks of my characters on my mangas. Well, this is not all that I want to write, but it's all that I can transmit now.
I occationally hear someone playing this at an airport, where there's a public piano for everyone. I was leaving for school and hearing that piece i couldn't held myself, almost got crying. This movie itself makes a unique connecion to me. I invited a girl I like to watch this together, but she had it scheduled with others already, so i missed this opportunity. I turned out to be that I missed my best chance...
Sometimes, simple is best. You've done well to first establish the atmosphere before layering it further into the song with more advanced techniques, a patience and maturity I appreciate.
This song tells the story of a little bird searching for comfort, inviting you to think about your own inner peace. Every gentle note played on the piano echoes the sound of fluttering feathers, carrying dreams and hopes.
Saw this one on your Bilibili page, stoked to see it premiering here too! It was super epic, I particularly liked the arpeggiated version of the theme at 6 minutes in!

I been never so obsessed on any song like this before. It's a masterpiece!
Wow... It's a medley!!!! Great! I've watched the film and love it. Music was great as always... Looking forward to Animenz's rendition of it.
I just rewatch this again and again. The movie made me cry I was shocked at the end. “I’m not afraid to die. Whether you live or die is just a matter of luck.” I was lost in these movie…❤
Hi, I'm coming back here, again lol. I can't help, my hand has muscle memory to click this video everytime it appears in recommendation.
Lol 😂 me also
Animenz, I don't know if you're seeing this, but this piece of yours are really magnificent and it stirs my heart. Keep on making more anime songs arrangement!
Animenz, thank you for your perfect arrangement and performance. Every time I watch your performance, I am always in admiration🌟
For today's Suzume soundtrack Medley, I found a few things that are different from your usual arrangement...
What I have to mention is the clean pedal stepping/release from 3:26~3:49, worthy of being a Steinway Artist (笑)
When it came to Part 3: Closing the Door, I had to admit that this was the worst scene I've ever cried in a movie theater. Especially at 4:52, as soon as the faint but clear treble came out, it brought me back to the moment when Suzume was reluctant to close the door in the movie... No matter how many times I watched the scene, it was very worrying 😭
Finally, with the change of music style, we came to Part 4: KANATA HALUKA.
Alan🚪
You absolutely nailed Sky Over Tokyo. Whole piece is ethereal, but I shed tears on that ending of the part 2. As always, you always deliver.
Beautiful✨
Yuss Yuss yaaaaassss! Sky over Tokyo was amazing! I couldn’t even see your fingers they were moving so fast!
6:38 - ascending into heaven! Amazing as always
Oh my god i love this!
You've given the best birthday present i have had in years!!!!
This medley was so powerful that i forgot everything else and got immersed in this beautiful melody that you played so gracefully.
You've made this my birthday ever !!🎉🎉
Love you animenz❤❤
Awesome arrangement, I was already enjoying it yesterday on your bilibili :3
I'm sure this'll hit different with the context of the movie so I'll have to come back to this after I've watched it!
Thank's for making such an amazing cover, I'm so lucky can hear this out 🤩
3:25 definitely my favourite part. The chords just went jazzy real quick
Such a soulfull song finally i can die in peace 🥹😌🫶
I'm so happy that I had an more casual day today then usually and was able to attend the premiere again! As always, I don't know what to write to express how much I admire your work.. So I just say: THANK YOU
Suzume's Soundtrack is a all time banger! I get chills everytime I hear it and Animenz played it perfectly. Seriously one of my favourite anime movie of all time
I love the first song. So glad you decided to make a piano cover for it!
Вау, це надзвичайно прекрасно звучить. Вперше за рік я знайшла п'єсу, яку би справді хотіла вивчити. Дякую.
I recently bought the Suzume book to read, and I guess I will have to finish the book while listening to this. This is just beautiful and poetic (musically). Good job once again!
By the way, if I only have 5 minutes limit to play this arrangement in front of the entire school, which parts do you think should I keep?
Here are my thoughts of this arrangement:
Part 1: Suzume: I like the as simple as possible thought process in 1:16 with a sustained left hand, followed by some difference in 1:35 with the left hand playing the sparkling melody in the originally that reminds me the first trailer release a year ago...
The direction where the LH keeps descending and the RH keeps ascending really gives a really touching contrast, reminds me in the cinema watching when Suzume flips the notebook from 3.9 and 3.10 and then 3.11 onwards is purely black…
Part 4: The keys speaks more than a million words. Just simple LH and octaves combo, followed by some scales, is enough to make a piano arrangement sounds like a museum of art. 7:41 is just giving me "Sincerely" vibes and speaks for Suzume's journey itself because the scales with the bass is just the perfect combo
By the way, I bet 6:00 will be the most replayed part, if not is the major key ending of Suzume.
Anyway, this is by far one of your most beautiful arrangements you've ever done Animenz! Your arranging skills have kept on improving over time.
How About 0:39 Part , You Will Get A Lot Of Fame , Every Student Will Just Take Ur Name
What type of book is it as in manga? novel?
@@kaizen1421 True I agree that’s the most important part as everyone knows that familiar melody indeed
@@gendo1123 it’s a light novel book
You never fail to make my day with these melodious compositions!
His pianos so clean you can watch his reflection playing in 4k
This is such a beautiful arrangement.
I love how clean the voicings are especially in the R.H., your technique is incredible.
And a funny fact, You know a lot of these songs I tend to hear by Animenz before the actual song 😂
But nevertheless I enjoy them just the same, thank you for another amazing arrangement Animenz! Will definitely check out this song now 👀
Здесь божественно всë, и настолько, что Ваше видео даже заставило меня всплакнуть🤧
Большое спасибо❤ Слушать Вас одно удовольствие)
Поддерживаю!
Take as long as you need to create a new masterpiece or overcome challenges in your life or to just relax a bit! Until your next video I will rewatch your old videos for the 100th time and I’ll be waiiiiiiiitiiiing, waiting foooor yooouuuuuu (I’d really love to get a cover of under the tree)
I love this cover too much TT, the moment I heard the first few notes I was immediately like 😮wow…….this is too goood
東京上空大好きなので、ピアノカバーが聴けて嬉しすぎます😭😭😭
私はあなたに同意します
The best cover I've seen so far 🤍✨
Haven’t stopped by for a while. Wow. Very nice! 🌟🖤
Ten years later still completely absorbed by your skill, talent, and drive. Once again I'm out here requesting the Cassern Sins OP by Color bottle.
usually i don't watch these kinds of medleys, but this one is rlly well done!
I really love the songs you choose to play in the piano, thank you❤
This is one of your masterpieces that I wanted to play by the piano immediately. This is soooo good! No…not just good, extremely great 😭💖 I really love this movie as well. And crying a lot with overwhelmed haha. Main theme is memorable as everyone know from the start of the soundtrack. And my another fav one is KANATA HALUKA. It’s funny that I only heard once at the end of the movie and it’s engraved on my mind. Thank you for arranging these soundtracks. Can’t wait to see your next performance!🤍
Loved the whole thing, but the very last chord felt really well executed. Gave me goosebumps.
Hut ab!
It's a really beautiful medley that took me through the movie once again
You use the best microphones it’s pure beauty listening on high quality headphones to compliment the recording
the music in bg and reading such wholesome comments makes my day.... the anime community truly is a blessing
Your arrangements are always impressive!
Dammmmm this is absolutely amazing..I was actually waiting for this video after I finished watching the movie...it was ssooooo good man the movie...the storyline and animation are godly.. Makoto Shinkai didn't fail us again ❤❤❤😂😂😊
i thought this song would be boring in piano, because it has similar repetitive tone & pitch. But i was wrong, and you made it perfectly
Honestly, I really enjoy listening to you playing with anime songs😊
another masterpiece. you never disappoint us
A barrage of melodies to the soul....after a year they still bring goosebumps ❤❤❤
I almost cried. 05:30 and 06:00 were totally amazing. Thank you for the art you are giving us. 💙
Holy shit, finally, I need someone to make a synthesia of this asap so I can learn it quick I am way too slow by ear.
Thanks for this insane arragement, I have been waiting for this!
Thank you for this wonderful performance Animenz.
I had no idea what this anime would be about when I first went to see in theaters. Makoto Shinkai really put me through a rollercoaster on this one. I would really watch it again
This is going to be epic as always 🔥🔥🔥
ホント、泣けてきちゃいますね…😢✨
Another masterpiece worth of 100 millions❤
Thank you bless us with one of favourite anime movie ❤💎
Well, sorry if there is some grammatical errors here, I'm not fluent yet... hehe
See, here's a music that can literally make you feel in heaven.
All the words are useless; your music tells the tale by itself! Absolutley amazing as always!
The first 2 mins of this song were my first try of arrangement, its amazing to see a proper version from animenz now 😀
After waiting for a long time, it finally came.
"Closing the door" is a very beautiful piece. But i can't deny that "Sky over Tokyo" is the most iconic track in the whole album.
凄すぎる。極上。
breathtaking.
both the movie and this video 💙
Saw this one on your Bilibili page, stoked to see it premiering here too! It was super epic, I particularly liked the arpeggiated version of the theme at 6 minutes in!
I've been waiting for this arrangement since watching the film!
