- Imagine yourself back in the Do-Wop 1950s. Now picture what a young car guy, hot rodder type, would look like. Then take that image, dip it in a batter of Cuban heritage, add a good dose of upbringing and family values. Follow that with a splash of love of all things vintage and cool, and lastly add a great sense of style, attention to detail, and humility. Now pull that person in the present time and drop him in Miami Florida. What you might get, my not be too far off of Yaril Quintana.
Yaril is just about one the coolest and nicest people you can meet. He's the owner of Yaril's Customs out of Miami Florida, and is the builder and owner of this awesome VW Type 3. He's a hot rod builder and an incredible craftsman, with award winning capabilities and an astounding sense of attention to detail. His shop is as clean and as cool and anything else he puts his name to. Just hanging out there, makes a normal person want to run out, buy a junker and build it into a hot rod, or something as cool.
This video celebrates his awesome Squareback, and attempts to show a little bit about the man himself, and what are the principles that drive the kind of creativity that make a shop like his, a possibility, as well as a realization to a life long dream.
Let me say again, you could almost not meet a nicer, cooler guy than Yaril Quintana, with as much talent, humility, and just good core values, as the ones that drive him.

I love the chrome Astro Supremes with the whitewalls. Never seem 'em on a VeeDub. Same wheels I had on my '87 Regal.
Yaril has a big hot rod and lowrider influence, and the supremes go hand in hand with that.

It's sad that customising is now about having the lairiest paint, biggest mag wheels, loudest stereo and not about improving the lines of the car to give better balance or bring something new to the table. I love that Type 3 as well, it's so understated.
Yaril really is a top notch guy. He is working on my VW crew cab. The guy is a real craftsman and is true to his word. Top top notch! I have been burned quite a few times on my crew cab from different body shops and Yaril does what he says and does it on time. There is no, "I'll get to it later" or "Tomorrow." Great great guy. Nice story, glad you are doing well, and doing what you love. I have seen many pics of your car online. Now I know how you got it, and built it. My first car was the same story, but got wrecked. I now have an auto repair shop and tow business. I still have many T3s and other VWs. Happy to see someone else doing what they love.

Yaril man, my dad had a Squareback back in the 80's. At the time I didnt realy like the car. Man was I wrong............. This green squareback is truely timeless! Now I want to get one for myself.
Dude, I have a similar story. My older brother was given a Type 3 Fastback FOR FREE by one of my Father's cousins. It was in good shape. It ran but had a little rust on it. Nothing that I couldn't handle now a days. All he had to do was take it. My old man didn't really have the time to work on it, and my older brother was being kind lazy on getting his driver's permit, so he ended up giving the car back his cousin to just sell off. In the late 80s that was an "old car", not really a classic, so the decision would be the same as giving back a Chevy Cavalier or something. I always thought it was so silly for my brother to not get his driving papers in order on time and for my Dad to give the car back. Boy do they wish they still had that car in possession now. Sux! Oh well, that's how allot of these things tend to go. Anyway, thanks for the comment Brother.

I cant keep my eyes off those old V-Dubs, especially the fastback(s).
BTW back in highschool there was this fat Italian kid, cool guy, he must of been the only V-Dub enthusiasts in the whole school. He used to praise VW for being one of the only car that use chrome hubcaps,etc etc...... I also like the old Australian made Valiant/Chrysler's, check em out, they are way cool, Like the Valiant R/T Charger, Valiant 2 Door Hardtop (VG, VH CH), R/T Pacer, and the VC Valiant looks sooo gangsta!

We dropped it on a Saturday which is a very low traffic day. People tend to do their own thing on the weekends. I'll repost it during the week. It should give it some traction.
I met Yaril at Grand national roadster show, and he won a shit load od trophys with his shoebox. I talked to him at the show, and I have to say he is a top nitch dude! and really knows his shit. I wish they did a video on his shoebox! That would be awsome.

Very nice bud. I dream of notchbacks and in my dreams it has a similar color combo..red interior , only the green in my head is more of a military olive-drab. Yours is better, it's real.. Do you go through rear tires like tic-tads, with that camber?

yeah mon like your video took me back when i built my first car a 1968 4 doorToyota carona imy pops used to pick up many for bottom dollar in the 70's and 80's by the time i got my licens i got the wores one that he bought as a parts car and challange myself to turn a ugly duckling into a swan I took step by step pictures had to find a front end bumpers it was a challenge but it got built took about a year this was back in 1992 did a vintage paint job on it like a tan yellow got lots of thumbs up when driving it all over the place car shows and it got dam good gas milage on it my pops and i rebuilt the engine that was his department still have a couple here at home a two 4 doors and 1 one 2 doors the one i built enjoyed it then sold it to a toyota dealer they had it in there window on display in California bay area. I have to mention i'm in a wheelchair and anything is possible when you put your hart into it I always have a vintage car truck around curnt car a 1947 chevy coupe. thanks again for the memory lan video.
