They don’t want to build these in volume as they don’t make any money on them. It’s a deliberate marketing ploy which is going to work as it’s a very desirable car but ridiculously expensive for what it is.
@narvuntien Nice if they were a couple of years , but clearly they have made the management decision to produce 5% of output as BEV... Thus choking their own sales and their own customers. I think they only made BEVs to pretend that they are committed to electric whilst continuing with their ICE and dieselgate disgrace.
I love the Buzz, i hate the exorbitant price. Early May, we went to Electricbrands in Eppertshausen where the Xbus is developed. That one has more potential to be affordable for the masses, with a starting price of €18.000. 9 different models with a Cabrio, a Kipper and a Camper model with a range up to 600km and with solar panels standard. Probably will be build starting this year at VDL netcars in Netherlands. Increasingly heavy, wastfull and obese EV's are not the way to the future. Lightweight is more common sense.
I agree - I love the design and principles of the xBus and the Canoo - we really don't need GT versions of cars that can out-sprint a Porsche. We need lightweight, modest-speed and modest-priced transport.
Why concentrate on making it quicker off the lights? People who buy a people carrier or campervan, just want to load it to the gunnels and get from A-B, and not be charging every 90mi. It’s a load carrier for goodness sake, not a track-day racer. 200ish miles and that would be in the baking Cali weather, with nothing inside other than a driver. What a buyer needs to know, is what it’ll cover fully loaded, on a non-Cali winter’s day. Reckon on halving any notional EPA stated range.
I'd like to see first what the aftermarket has planned. I'd like to see a jumpseat replacement for the center console. VW can't do it because airbag and seatbelt requirements, but there's no reason the aftermarket can't sell you one for "offroad" purposes only. Same for cargo. Want to see tie-down rails. Would have LOVED if they did a split tailgate so we could have hauled long stuff without losing our middle row or obstruction rear visability.
This is still behind what the Sharan offered in terms of practicality. We had 5 individual full size seats in the back, which were great. I've no faith in VW getting the touch screen nonsense sorted either.
Hi, you mentioned there will be up to 6 isofix anchorage points in the lwb version. Does this mean there will be 5 individual seats like a multivan T7 and also isofix in the front passenger seat?
@gavincarter3425. She hasn't done her homework properly. It's only 5 isofix anchor points. (Centre middle row does not have isofix).

😊 my name is buzz. I would have to have one. I think I would have the short wheelbase but it would have to be the all-wheel drive with a lot more speed with a lighting up badge 😅
Ok this is BETTER than the current UK version - the panoramic glass roof and an actual opening window in the rear is a worthy addition plus the illuminated logo - price is going to be prohibitive probably £80k - USA are getting a 91kwh battery - when even an iPace has 100kwh I think they should’ve just gone for 100kwh especially as it struggles to get 2.5miles/kWh - the California camper will end up over £100k how did we get here - people wagon ?
