@@SpysBizarreGameDevAdventurepart of that depends on where you live. My counterargument to the lifetime and relevance of those gpus is this. The most popular console in the world is designed around what is essentially a cut down 6700xt and a 3700x and targets 1440p performance. Almost all games are going to be designed around that hardware like it or not, so just like we saw back when the PS4 finally fully took over in 2014 or so we all the sudden saw a fairly major stagnation in performance requirements until the PS5 began to really take dominance of the console marketshare. It happens every time, itll happen again. There are definitely some nice to haves on Nvidias top of the line hardware, and they're not always a bad pick, but I believe both will age fairly well simply because titles that fully rely on ray tracing and upscaling will have to be optimized to do that on Zen 3 and RDNA2 if they want them to sell well.
@@dsrocks6905 where i live right now the cheapest partner card for 7900 xt is 680 euro, and the cheapest partner card for 4070 ti super is 900 euro, how is it ever worth for me to go with nvidia?
AMD performs much worse in Unreal Engine games, that is a fact. RT cores on 7000 and earlier versions are trash, that is true. The purchase decision should be based on the title you want to play. CoD MWIII performs very well on AMD GPUs. I do not want to be a fanboy of any sort. By the time a reasonable number of the games supporting RT come out, even Nvidia's GPUs will struggle, especially the 3000 and 4000 series. I use 4060Ti only because of super low power demand and I do not want a heater in my PC case. I play mostly Battlefield series and many of my mates CS: GO or RUST. For us, raytracing is irrelevant because You do not want that feature in highly competitive games. For single-player titles, that do not require flexing, in-game skills, or use of the so-called brain, nVidia is a brainer... but when it comes to competitive experience I would go with AMD any time of the day. CS:GO runs better on AMD. Simply pick up a card that suits your needs better. I don't give a crap about raytracing, I used it only for Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and that is all pretty much. Using RT on the slower card than the 4070 Super is a total garbage option. Frame generation is excellent only in single-player games because you stay with the same crappy latency and input delay on your mouse. DLSS is also a gimmick, too much flickering, blur, and artifacts to make it viable in competitive first-person shooters. I will decide on GPU to pick in March. I will not overspend on a 12-gig Nvidia card that will be dead on arrival after 1 year from release, especially in 1440p and above.
Now. I don't like ray tracing. I think it's a waste of the video card. Also AMD is quite cheap when compared to NVidia and have more VRAM... But it ain't gonna cut in something like indiana jones and the great circle. Luckily, the Intel ARC B580 exists while being cheap and raytracing capable... Though, it's from Intel, it's only a matter of time before some insability issues appear.
ray tracing is the new pixel shader and is here to stay, anyone who doesn't understand that is either too young to remember the early days of pixel shader 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0, or is a contrarian
@SpysBizarreGameDevAdventure dayum chill bro. Just an opinion. I'm argentinian so obviously i can't afford NVidia and i don't really care for graphics so long as the game is fun and doesn't look like being made in the PSX.
Ray tracing is the song of the future still. There will be no permanent raytracing in CS scene and other highly competitive titles for the upcoming years. For single-player experience raytracing might matter, but in online fast-paced shooters is a no go for now, only optional feature. AMDs next line-up of cards will have dedicated AI cores for RT and FSR computation... so yeah, owners of previous GPUs are slightly fucked cuz none of the upcoming games would work properly with RT enabled on 6000/7000 series :).
I could have bought a 4090 2 years ago and instead opted to buy a 7900 XTX out of retarded principles like supporting AMD, instead of just buying a better product has less to do with one of my projects making me money, and more about wanting the best possible experience since I spend a lot of time on my computer
OOOOOOOR you don't use raytracing. It doesn't matter. I don't think raytracing will be mandatory in games, only if nvidia shoves $ on the gaming market, only those games. I had RTX 3070 and sold it and bought Sapphire RX 7900XT and I love it (paired it with 7800x3d). I don't want ray tracing, i don't see many differences (see the hardware unboxed video about raytracing, only a few games are worth it in the rest it just lowers performance for nothing). It's a given if one wants raytracing should go Nvidia, but you're gonna spend way more money for less rastering performance if one would buy AMD. When I bought the RX 7900XT, it was the same price as RTX 4070 super so no thanks. I heard AMD will be much better with the 9000 series in the raytracing departament, just wait for everything to come out, watch reviews, see prices and buy. Anyway i hear you won't be able to buy Nvidia 5000 series because of low stock and and the high prices and watch out for the scapers. And dude, don't compare rtx 4090 with rx 7900xtx, just look at the prices, rx 7900xtx shoud be compared with rtx 4080 which it beats in most games.
I would say wait for now with the 5070 and RX9070 coming at that price point. By wait I mean less than 2 months if you can anyway other wise you might regret it otherwise.
anything that has at least 16 GB of video memory, once the next generation consoles roll out 12 gigs and less will not be enough anymore - hell, 12 gigs is pushing it today already, unless you're playing at 1080p
