- For Art and Sue Wittmack an adventure on the water was always part of the plan once they retired. At first they thought a sailing adventure but once they learned about the Great Loop they new they needed a powerboat instead. And not just any powerboat but one that could move quickly and efficiently. They settled on a Prestige 500S.

We, as a family of 4 are planning the loop in a few years. Still trying to decide between a trawler-style boat or a motor yacht. The trawlers, although slower, look to be more suited to liveaboard.
You can take a trawler all throughout the Caribbean as well.
Awesome video, I would love to add the Great Loop to my bucket list, just because the experience, places to see, and people you meet has to really make it special.

I worry about the salt water environment in raw water intakes for engines, gensets, and marine air conditioners that draw raw water through sea strainers that will draw
in damaging aquatic life. Great Lakes are salt and shark free. But there is a draw to the sea.
how much was your fuel cost?
Did ii in 1997 starting in Maryland on a 1969 fully restored 42 Bristol trawler single screw. Max speed 11knots.
Did it 2 years ago, started in north carolina. Catalina 22, 6hp outboard 7 mph
