I cannot believe this was almost twenty years ago?! It seems like yesterday when I was watching this back in 06 shortly after the upload. Just wanted to say a quick thank you for all the views I've accumulated over the years. My best friend since around 1st grade passed last week, this song has eased my soul. We both went to so many shows over the years and loved the passion that Warren would bring to any lineup. We got to see Allen Woody's last two shows back to back in 2000. Gov't Mule in Endicott and The Allmans the next day @Montage as we were hoping the two would make an appearance after playing so close. Thank you
I was at this show. Late summer early fall of 02. It was two nights of Phil Lesh and friends with Warren Haynes and Jimmy herring playing with them. Willie Nelson open the first night Bobby Weir and Ratdog the second night. And this great performance thrown in for good measure. Great times
well, on that note...i'm 22 years old and have been listening to the ancestors of previous generations for some time now..and like you, i agree that mr. warren haynes is THE FREAKING MAN.
cheers barney and this ones lit for you..hope your family can lok back with a smile and understand the happines you brought those around you and inspired the generations that follow
that is fucking awesome Schools is wearing a shirt from the Goat in Keystone!! These guys are truly amazing musicians who just love being musicians and sharing with people. Legendary stuff. This is what music is really all about. I had a similar experience with Eddie Vedder at Pearl Jam's first tour on Lollapalooza when their equiptment got rained out and Eddie came out and did an acoustic set for everyone who stuck it out. You knew he understood what was important. Just like these guys
I always love hearing Warren on an acoustic...it's just a great change of pace from the Allman Bros or Mule...his voice always shakes me to the core when he sings Soulshine
I would just like to thank you for taking this video and putting it on the internet. This is by far my most favorite video that is on youtube, and everyone that I show it to is deeply moved by it. Thank you again very much.
Wow, this is awesome! It's that "he's one of us" message in it. Great guys, great songs. Soulshine is my personal anthem since I heard it first in '94. Thank you so much for posting!!!
this is such a kick ass video! Warren is coming to concert soon and I can't make it, this is as close as I can get, THANK YOU soo much for posting this!!!! Definatley made my day!!!
Warren is the best - totally my hero!!! I love it when he plays with Schools - would love to see Schools join the Mule but I know thats not in the cards. :-(
"We scaled the scarf at Red Rocks. And scrambled from Johnny Law. In the spit shine of mountain high and the blessing of Jerry and Herb; my tumbling roll into the break of day..."
also, like Dead fans--WSP fans tend to be pretty knowledgable about music in general. I have a lot of respect for many WSP fans as the scope of their knowledge about different kinds of music is often impressive. I have a lot of fun going to random shows with WSP fans and they always love going to see the great pieces of great bands play in their side projects which I love. Great musicians doing their thing and collaborating with other great ones.
majority of people at them will be at all 3. Red Rocks only holds about 9000 people. And those shows are basically the center of the universe for WP fans so they have all travelled far and wide for them. I have friends fly or drive in every year for them. The last time the Dead played RR they sold out (completely packed) 6 nights in 7 days and that's without Jerry--there really is no comparison here.
I'm definitely not going to sit here and debate the point on consistency. No doubt you never knew what you were gonna get with the Dead but whether they were on or not, you never knew what the setlist was going to consist of. They had much more to pull from than WSP and were willing to take more risks. I'm not going to make any comment to the quality of the music of WSP or their perfomances--the level of devotion shown by their true fans attests to that much louder than you or I could.
Panic fans are very loyal no doubt and they do have a large following but to say that it's on the size or level of Dead or Phish is simply not true. They are even today a very regional band. They come out to Colorado several times a year and they never pack places like the Dead or Phish did (I can't stand Phish for the record)--and the majority of people at those shows have travelled for them. For instance they have 3 shows at Red Rocks this summer, none will be completely full and the
well...the Allman Brothers thought enough of Warren to have him join the band. Homework...hehe...I have seem more shows that most people...about 600 dead and JGB shows...I have seen the Allman Brothers about 50 times...I would say I have done my "homework".
never met a jam band fan who wasn't a drag..........cool,chief? derek trucks........good one.........rather have my hands tied with hemp and forcefed sammy smiths all nite dude..........you got me on the van morrison.....you are just a van lover ain'tcha??? kind wordz, dread
You are the one that said Greg Allman was "good music", why would he have Warren in the band if he is not good? Seems like you need to go back and do your homework.
I am completely sober; your insult to panic and its fans is completely based off your narrow-minded your opinion that you can only enjoy them if you're on acid? Do you like the Dead or Phish?
Come on man, I was going to stay out of this but that was a pretty rediculous comment by putting them out there in front of the dead. They have certainly not show the longevity yet (granted there is plenty of time for that--but they have shown signs of calling it quits). They definitely do not have the depth of range and music that the Dead showed who continued to push the limits and expand in various ways. Look, WP fans are rabid, no doubt I give them plenty of respect....
do some homework my friend, Ray charles, Stevie Wonder, Derek and The Domino's, Greg Allman, Buddy Guy, John Lennon, hello I am sorry that this music is so sub par now a days. I wish with all my heart that music was better but what are you gonna do...now leave me alone.... and always remember folks "friends don't let friends play with bad music".
All I can say is play with a little soul boys. Come on who do you think you are? Warren please do us all a favor and stop singing!! OUCH!! these people are so high and misguided that they think anything is good. God help us....

I too was there. Warren is as close to a R&R God as we will ever get. Thanks and Peace...JS

Panic and the Dead, apples and oranges.

I have a man crush on Warren
