- Whole fat vs. low fat milk ~ which is ACTUALLY healthier? 🐮
Whole fat milk has more vitamin K2 than low fat milk.
Whole fat milk has also been found to be better at preventing weight gain.
Not mentioned in this video, but when it comes to heart health, recent research (such as a 2022 systematic review - doi:10.3390/nu14040831) found that full fat fermented dairy products has no detrimental effects on cardiovascular health.
This is why I always choose full fat dairy when given the option.
So glad people are finally realizing this! I've been fighting this narrative for 2 decades. Ask any farmer; "nothing fattens a pig like skim milk. " That's what they use to fatten their pigs. Skim. SKIM!
Id drink your milk straight from the source.
Whole milk taste more delicious 😋
Nope
As a guy with 6 pack abs I drink low fat milk 250 ml and 250ml with oats
@@toooydoeurSkim milk is digusting bro 😭😭
@@Xelenteontae_ nope it's the goat
@@toooydoeurBro 😭😭😭😭 your crazy
If your able to avoid a excessive caloric surplus during the day, and you don't have a job that involves sitting on a chair for 9 hours without moving, than whole milk is definitely healthier. But if you're sedentary and your already on a surplus diet I wouldn't advice whole milk lol. I personally drink whole milk but move a lot.
Thank you so much for answering that question for me!! You rock!❤
I think the answer should be it depends … those with high cholesterol should limit saturated fat … so whole milk is not “healthier” for them.
Not true. Learn about Carnivores.
You should checkout my note in the description about the latest research on full fat dairy and heart disease
carbs is bad for cholesterol, not fat
I’m just going by what my nutritionist and doctor suggested for my cholesterol and heart disease risk
@@AutumnBatesI don’t see research linked.
My pediatrician said my kids should have low fat because it has more protein! I should have checked the labels myself. Thank you! Going back to whole milk. 😊
I’m also a dietitian. I haven’t heard about the higher protein point so that’s interesting but obviously pretty insignificant. It’s standard practice to recommend low fat dairy after the second birthday. They no longer need the extra fat for brain development so it’s extra calories that we want kids consuming via solid foods. This article is likely talking about adults with regard to research around weight so I wouldn’t translate that onto children. Maybe it won’t hurt to give them full fat milk as long as they are good eaters!
Eat full fat fermented and aged dairy (yoghurt, kefir, hard cheeses). Adults really don’t need to be drinking milk very often. It lacks the food matrix in the aforementioned dairy products which are likely protective from a number of diseases.
How does NO fat milk vs low fat milk affect insulin levels?
Whole has less carbs so ig it’s better if you can’t have too many
Unpasteurized whole milk 🥛 😋
YES!!!
Pasture raised!!
@@jaquillahillahfoodstamps Wishing my grandparents still had their farm. Growing up the cows grazed the fields, knew the call to come in for milking. We'd milk, fill up a gallon jug from the bulk tank and drink it for dinner. People nowadays have no clue just how delicious fresh milk is from a grass fed cow.
I dont need food poisoning
Congrats on significantly increasing the risk of infection and diseases!
I read that the human body absorbs the protein in dairy products when its fat isn't removed. From personal experience, I no longer consume milk. I used to consume strained 2% fat yoghurt and I felt bloated and had a lot of gas. I switched to whole fat sheep milk yoghurt (it's not strained 6,7% fat) and it's better. The last experiment is to give kefir and ayran (apologies to the Turkish people, I am Greek we also produce it yet I'm not 100% aware of the differences among these two) a go, the fat content is 1,5% as mentioned in the food label, no extra sugar additives.
Low-fat and fat free milk has more carbohydrates and sugar. What people must remember about carbohydrates. When carbohydrates enter the body. The body changes it to sugar. In other words carbohydrates and sugar are very, very similar. I am in my 40s and I have tried the high fat low carb diet and it works brilliantly
Whay if you hate the taste of milk , I've been reading more negatives about oat milk, which I drink.:(. I like greek yogurt though...
Whole milk makes me gag. I only drink 2% A2 milk from ONLY A2 cows. I put ghee in my chai for fat. It’s the only time I drink milk.
Yay! Picked the right one without noticing
Great topic! Thanks so much!!
I have to watch my cholesterol so I buy low fat. I’m curious if it is enough to make a difference 🤔
gonna be the annoying one to say that the best option would be to switch to a plantbased alternative. Animal foods are the only foods that give you ecess cholesterol. So far the vegan diet is the only one that has been shown to reverse the effects of heart desease
Cholesterol not the culprit so many research said , sugar and blood pressure is culprit
None of the above. #WhatTheHealth?
Cholesterol is not bad. It’s one of the biggest lies ever
@@eonoire I was vegan vegetarian for eight years. My health has never been worse. I now have high cholesterol low iron, low vitamin D, digestive problems, constipation tinnitus and many more. Do not do vegan vegetarian.
Thanks for your advice now I know to have my porridge with water instead of semi skimmed milk❤
Whole milk daring
Doctors would not agree with this for certain people who need to stay away from the fat and cholesterol
which is healthier for gout diets though? Im struggling to put a finger on it but low fat milk has been helping me thus far
You were pointing to Grassfed milk.commercial milk is not healthy
Whole.. even better cow milk zero 🏭 factory u gotta shake it up .... the cream separates its got a yellow hue... i live in southdakota wish i could get milk like i did in the 90s man my neighbors cow lived off grazing zero pesticide zero hormones just real... i looked like a body builder at 14
Nurse here! This does not apply to those with high cholesterol or high blood pressure. Some people are more prone to plaque buildup in arteries . Make sure to monitor your fat/cholesterol intake. I loved whole milk but Next milk is THE BEST milk alternative I’ve ever had I stg 😮💨🤌🏾 I don’t even miss real milk anymore
Yeah, I was thinking this does not applying to so many people, many of whom are more likely to be referred to a certified nutritionist/dietician than the average person.
Who’s the target audience for this?
Nurse here! This is outdated info on cholesterol and saturated fat based on corrupt, paid for "studies"
fat doesn’t increase cholesterol, carbs do. you’re just like the doctor that prescribed me statins and I was in so much pain from them I couldn’t walk. He told me if I didn’t take them I’d have a heart attack or stroke but here I am 3 years later, not taking statins, and no heart issues. I’m doing low carb and intermittent fasting and losing weight and getting healthy.
Thanks for mentioning this! I have Ulcerative Colitis and my dietitian said high fat dairy is a no-go for people with UC because it can exacerbate symptoms and worsen my inflammation. I used to love whole milk yogurt but I have to steer towards low fat now for medical reason. Same applies to milk.
This isn’t a one size fits all. Consult your healthcare professional about your individual needs.
Whole milk.
Neither, only raw, unpasteurized cow's milk that can be fermented is food.
Raw milk best!!!
Plus, whole milk tastes a hundred times better.
Whole is more nutritious but both healthy
Whole milk all the way.🥛
I love Whole milk but unfortunately I can't drink it. :( Me and dairy dont get along.
Buy A2 milk! It is real milk but it only has the A2 protein. It is much easier to digest.
U can take lactase supplements but it might not be effective for everyone
So firstly, it should be noted that full fat is shown to be associated with less obesity WHEN COMPARED TO LOW FAT, this does not mean it will make you thinner. Secondly, k2 is not a necessary nutrient as long as you eat enough k1. And I know you cover ears for these things but diets that include high amounts of saturated fat, including sat fat from dairy, do increase ldl level and instance of cardiovascular events. Low fat dairy has also shown to statistically lower your blood pressure in comparison to full fat dairy despite lower BMI. "nutritionist" is such scam title too.
Is 6% fat milk good
They also ads sugar to skim
Neither is healthy for baby cows because the farmer won’t let the baby drink it’s mothers milk so you can.
I drink whold red cap milk eat rice ceral or corn.. wheat even... i eat beef i eat carbs i love salt. I am 39 can run 5 miles to work ... put in 12 hours doing 2 jobs in one.. on my days off i lift weifhts moderate and im solid muscle zero injury

What about the calories? Is low fat the same as 2%?
I buy both low fat and whole milk now. I rarely drink milk but maybe add a couple tbsp to coffee. However I buy milk for making both yogurt and skyr and since skyr is usually low fat I buy low gat milk for it. Though right now I've got both full fat and low fat milk skyr since I bought some raw milk which is only sold as whole milk. With my gut issues I kinda am trying using the enzymes and cultures from raw dairy in my yogurt and skyr to hopefully help heal my suspected but not 100% confirmed ibs that my hishimotos created. And so I've got both bulgarian yogurt and skyr thats whole milk with raw cultures and some low fat skyr with those same cultures since I used the whole milk version as starter culture. I'm saving the whey from all of this too to make smoothies with if I run out of both and am out of snap to buy more milk with. I do add protein powder and fats like alvavado or coconut butter/oil when I make a smoothie with whey instead of yogurt or skyr. I wonder how much k is in all of those? Who knows?
what is skyr?
@@debbrabeckman1666 its kinda a soft cheese with a yogurt like consistency and is often found in the yogurt section. Its often marketed as Icelandic yogurt. Its often made with low fat or skim milk and is higher in protein though slightly higher carb. When I'm doing a low fat milk skyr as my yogurt bowl I tend to pair with higher fats like eggs and fatty cuts of meat like brisket to offset the lack of fat and higher carb count. When I do a higher fat yogurt like the one I make from half and half or heavy cream I tend to do meaner cuts like beef heart or beef kidney more to offset the higher fat content. Thats why I have varying fermented dairy fat contents so I can mox and match my food more and avoid food burnout.
Low fat often has sugar in it to make it palatable. Best to avoid both anyway.
nah, im gonna continue drinking whole fat milk. its tasty and full of vitamins
Can we do intermittent fasting while nursing?
No
Whole organic
Raw Goat and Raw Cow milk is the best.
Where I can buy organic+grass fed+lactose free whole milk?
If you drink raw milk, there shouldn't be a lactose issue.
How about almond milk?
It is not real milk.
@@yordanpopov this. if its not cow milk its just man made juice
I guess people with high cholesterol miss out on the full fat milk benefits 🥴
Take whole milk and when it gets halfway refill it wit purified water 🤯
Fat doesn't get u fat kids.... repeat eating fat doesnt turn to fat in your body... excess calories does of any sort u neeeeed fat to live

Both have sugar and we are not meant to drink milk as adults
😮 milk no good.
BS, skim milk is better

Fat isn’t bad for you
Sugar content
The vitamins are found in the fat this goes with all foods. Always choose the fat is the good stuff and the flavour. Low fat tastes like water its not natural

Both are no good.
