Thanks so much! My daughter knocked the controller off a shelf and the L2 was permanently on. I popped off L1, did the first 3 cleaning steps and blew on it a bit and poppes L1 back on and it fixed! Booyah, hero. Thank you.
So I was playing God of War and accidently dropped my controller while playing. The controller wouldn't even register. I tried turning in off and on, resetting it, and then it would have the R2 constantly pressed. I took it apart and disassembled the trigger, even taking out the pad. It's not like it was dirty at all. I turned the game back on, and it was doing the exact same thing as the R2 was being pressed the whole time. At this point, I gave up, put it back together, started the game up, and it started working like nothing happened. I do t even know what I did to fix it. Thank you very much for your video, though. If I didn't watch your video, I would have no idea how to take the controller apart and put it back together.
Thanks so much for this, it was really thorough and called out a lot of the little "gotchas" that other tutorials tend to miss. I was able to fix the L2 switch on my gen2 controller that was overly sensitive and randomly triggering, seems like the sensor just needed a clean.
Thank you so much! I couldn’t figure out for the life of me why my L2 trigger stopped working. Every video I searched kept mentioning the springs but mines were perfectly intact. Turns out it just needed a little swabbing with alcohol!
Brilliant video, followed all instructions and fixed my L2 button that was jammed, love it how he’s put effort into all types of controllers, cheers pal just saved me from buying another one 😂
this is a well done video. my issue wasnt listed on here but it was resolved anyways thinking alongside the longshot solutions you did. thanks boss. L1 was registering as L2 when pressed on PC, found out that steam controller map somehow relisted the input of L1 to L2.
yo bro, it was my first time opening my Dualsense, ngl, i was scared AF, but you helped me a lot, my triggers werent responding that well, it was to clean em my solution, THX so much, new sub and a well deserved like
Thanks. My R2 trigger skipped the thing that limit's it's range of movement on my Gen 4 and no longer depressed at all. This helped me get into it and get a good look at the problem. Getting my R1 out was pretty tough due to the fixed position of the R2. A bunch of things went wrong while doing the maintenance, but you accounted for most of it. For example, the spring came off and I had to struggle with it. Your tips and assurance that it wasn't easy but it was doable saw me through. One thing I would like to see for you r video is a list of suggested tools up from. There was a lot of pausing to go find pliers or a needle or whatever. I know that it might depend on the generation and putting the generation thing at the beginning might scare some viewers off, but yeah. Maybe a broad list. Oh and for some reason the hole push the pin out of my trigger was differently shaped,.smaller, and even less visible than in your photos. I just estimated based on sight, felt around with the thumbtack and acted on faith when I stabbed what I debated to be the hole I was looking for or the self-destruct mechanism.
Ok so I had the same issue, but I messed around with the spring and took it apart bc something was in the way and locked my L2 so I just messed with the spring and positioned thing the right way to where it didn’t get stuck, it works now
For some reason my left trigger is clicking the when I put it all back together every second or two I can feel it. Must be something to do with those gears and how I set that piece back in there...
hay there, i had dropped my controller and when i picked it up that r2 was done for. i’ve taken it all apart and it seems that the contact point sensor thing for the trigger is not picking anything up, even when i manually press the buttons in. r1 is fine and both on the left are able to do it. the button itself i don’t think is the issue, the black piece works for the other button when i flipped it around. is that replaceable at all or am i toast? gen 3!!
my whole spring base is broken off of my r2 button on my gen 3 controller. How do I reattach the spring base back to my r2? The spring on the spring base is perfectly fine.
I have a new controller which so believe is Gen 5 bought yesterday (Sept 1, 2024)... the L2, R2 button doesn't have that hole to remove the rod. Any help.
Mine doesn’t want to shoot or if it does it bugs out and shoots with my L3. Not sure what happened I keep my controller clean and place it into a bag so no dust gets on it. I have never dropped it. So not sure what’s wrong with it. It’s also been updated and I have tried all the troubleshooting. Except opening the controller.
please help. i did all the steps for gen 3, and the L2 button still doesnt work. ive had this problem for a couple hours right after i threw my controller. the spring and screws are intact, no damage or anything. controller is clean and the resistance and feel on the L2 is the same as the R2. software is up to date. i cant sign into my account because the password requires the L2 button. thats how i found out it doesnt work.
Press on it with your finger, clockwise or counterclockwise if it's the left or the right one, personally I recommend dissasembling everything and then taking out the trigger rod, it's also easier to put the trigger rod when everything is dissasembled
@@jjcameron0096 the metal rod? Or the L shaped(spiral) like piece that hangs on the trigger? I thought it was the other piece, the other spiral 'thing', can be done by hand, the metal cylinder, however can't, try twisting and turning it by the sides, also let me know which bdm you have bcus it varies the methode, I have taken apart everything in that area, i however took it out with a 'joint plier'
@@Veil1984. the issue isn’t the pliers part I am having and issue getting something small enough to fit into the whole to push the bar out as I have a generation 4 controller which you have to push a small enough for object through a very tiny whole to even get enough space to use pliers
@@jjcameron0096 oh yeah I see... I would recommend getting a pen and trying to push it with the tip, if that doesn't work maybe use a screw driver that can change the tips, change it to the smallest and try pushing it. I'm also seeing from the video that the trigger spring may get in the way, maybe try taking it out, it's easy to put in back once it's all dissasembled, be careful w it flying around once you take it out.

Tq u so much .. I juz needed to off the trigger effects and problem solved.. phew..
Thank you so much my L2 was messed up and this video saved me $90 definitely leaving a like and sub
Thank you soo much.
Found out that the spring in L2 button had cracked in two, is there a place online where you can buy Springs.?
Amazon is usually the best place.
one of the best tutorials ive watched, thank you
In mine the pins in the slot connector for the flex cable bend in. Bending then back out with a needle fixed it.
amazing video, helpful for me!! THANKS
Your amazing man, thank you so much
Nothing works.. L2 button is still locked, Constantly held down without being pressed

When I put my triggers back in they’re just stuck on my gen 4 controller
Best video on this 👌
Thank you so much!!!
Thanks bro it worked perfect
Turns out after I opened it up it was a one of the cables unplugged
Thank you
Can you use a ps4 spring ?
I have a new controller which so believe is Gen 5 bought yesterday (Sept 1, 2024)... the L2, R2 button doesn't have that hole to remove the rod. Any help.
You have to take the four screws out around it. A black cover will pop off and then you can do it.
