This is what I've been looking for, proper justification to own one. I think its very cool but hearing all the sounds you've coaxed out of it has really sold me, best get saving!

Great presets! At first i didnt like this synth and thought it was too refined sounding but now it is becoming one of my favorite. It's such a masterpiece of synth design with the price being a factor to that. Theres people paying this same price for no keys, no presets, etc. Rip dave smith, sounds that changed the world

As a former Prophet-5 owner I am glad to hear those classic Seq. circuits sounds. Your demo is a dream come true. But I miss those strings/pad-like sounds as I had in 2.1 (I guess) preset in my old Ph-5. Could you show us something like this? Thanks

Until recently I had the OB-6 as my fave of newer synths, but just too expensive. Discovered the Take 5 and and had it delivered yesterday and I'm over the moon with it, sounds soooo good.
For fun I listened through your video of the OB-6 and while it does that fat Oberheim thing, it seems quite a bit less versatile than the T5 , and today I would still take the T5 over it.

Is there any decent competition at this price point for this synth? It sounds very nice. Maybe if you just get a desktop model of something? I don’t want a Peak because I have a Summit. I want something portable. Either 49 keys or less, or a desktop module. 44 keys is a good size and a nice keybed. Desktop Ob-6 is quite a bit more expensive. Could go Hydrasynth, but this synth looks a lot easier to get pleasing sounds.

How would the Take 5 compare to a Novation Peak if I had to pick between the two? Mainly for pads/ambient stuff that would make use of the onboard effects.
Hmm i'll be honest Take 5 is fully analogue and you can hear it ... its very warm even if distorted or using FM sounds. Peak is amazing but a bit colder sounding. In the end I think both complement each other well as they are different.
But how does the Take 5 compare to the Grogu?!

Question for you. If you had the option of having just an Ob-6 OR the Take 5 with the Opsix, which would you go with?
I currently have a Subsequent 37 and a Peak. I am in the market for an analog Poly, and after selling off a ton of gear / vst’s, the OB-6 is in my price range. But I am torn between possibly going with a cheaper synth (Take 5) and another cheaper Wavetable or FM synth to cover an even wider sonic range. I’ve been considering the Opsix as well as the Argon8. Curious your thoughts, as you have had all of them!
In Fairness for me between a P6 and Take 5 is not brainer , Take 5 is sooo much better , but the Ob6 is amazing , they are very different Ob6 is simpler than Take 5 , if you fancy simpler but higher quality instruments go OB6

At 10"25 there is a very pleasant 80s bass sound , do you think ob 6 can do the same ? Particularly do you find the enveloppes are more snappy (fast attack) in the take 5 or in the ob6 ? Or in Trigon ? Thx
yes i think it should be doable but the filter in to OB might mnake it sound a bit different. If i remember the Ob enveloppes are fast , Take 5 ones are snappy yes.
Will I lose the default take 5 sounds if I get this? or there is a "user" section where it can be loaded?
No you will not loose the factory presets , these will go to user bank and leav you another 128 free slots to save more.

Yes they are fast. I believe All modern synth have digital envelopes since lmid 80's.

one of the best take 5 demos! u know how to make this honda sound like a porsche! ( no pun intended,) honda is an affordable yet reliable car that just works and works really well, however its not a "premium luxury" car
