- Daniel Negreanu is a man of many accomplishments. He has won 7 WSOP (World Series of Poker) bracelets, over $32 million dollars in live tournament earnings, has appeared on High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark, and is a regular at events like the EPT (European Poker Tour), WPT (World Poker Tour), and the PCA (Pokerstars Carribean Adventure).
However, he has never won the million dollar buy in Big One For One Drop event. He makes a run at in this video, taking on Dan Colman heads up for the title. This event had just a few dozen entrants, but it was an incredibly tough field, with the likes of Phil Ivey, Antonio Esfandiari, and Phil Hellmuth (but not Tom Dwan) vying for the bracelet.
In this hand, Daniel Colman makes a full house by the river, but DNegs simply doesn't believe him. He's prepared to make a hero call with just an unpaired King. It's a gutsy play, but is it the right one? As always, Doug Polk breaks down each street of action. Poker Hands is the show where Doug analyzes live poker hands from tv poker shows.

Hi Doug, I replied on your last video too but I don't think you saw it. My suggestion on that video was that you should call this series "Polker Hands" instead of "Poker Hands". I'm suggesting the same thing on this video. I think it would be a funny use of wordplay that could make this series more popular. It would be funny because your surname is "Polk" and stuff. The thing I liked about how Daniel played the hand is when he said "i though I was good" as opposed to "stupid me". You need to carefully make decisions and accept the fact that you could be wrong.

Doug, when you're done with the WSOP hands I was wondering if you'd do some of the hands from the Dwan vs Hellmuth NBC Heads Up tourny (the rematch). Dwan's turn bet in the K9 vs 95 hand that he busted on seemed very weird, as well as the A8 vs A8 hand where Dwan donked the flop and Hellmuth raised on JQxr. It was just a weird match in general.

Doug, you mentioned a couple of times that being heads up oop you should check all your hands to the preflop raiser. Do you never ever ever donkbet?
He mentions in his lab that you can build a Donk range if you already have a very competent check-raise range but for less advanced players its better to just never do it.

Hi Doug.. I think that Negreanu maybe believe that when Colman bets the river big his range is more polarized that when he bets small.. I think that if Colman bets around 1/2 or 1/3 Negreanu will be most likely to fold..
I hope this channel grows and you're able to make good income from youtube because I've really been enjoying these videos and look forward to your new channel videos as well. You could do daily vlogs of whatever you do anyways during the day and I am sure you would be able to grow a good following from that.

dude it is a polarizing bet, as you said colman is representing 2pair+ hands ... so if you are calling with an ace of a jack you have to call with K high as well.

There was no mis read. Heads up king high will be good a pretty good amount. Daniel just had a feeling that was wrong is my guess.
In this whole heads up, Colman seemed to have a good edge on Negreanu. There were a few situations from which one could assume that.
A lot of players get way too sticky on paired board and way to counter that is use big sizing on paired board.
I hate it when people call their hands that way before turning them over, like ''full house.. not sure if this is good?"
Actually mr Polk, a ten of spades is likely a bit more interesting of a turn card. I guess it doesn’t improve Coleman’s hands like the ace did tho.

Why jam the turn? That would be such an awful line to take
Because it's unlikely he'd get out of this hand if he doesn't hit the river , by calling 3 streets i think you become the fish since vilain is taking you straight to value town.
In the other hand with a shove, you make that 2 pair on a tough spot plus even if he calls you still got a lot of outs on the river.
(at least that's how i see it in my head)
But two pair is never folding there, so I don't get your logic?
+Nazim You obv haven't played much heads up, hand values change radically when 2 people play nearly 100% of their range, it's blinds battle on steroids basically top pair decent kicker=monster ags good tag opponent... good luck trying to make two pair fold.

Colman outplayed Daniel in that heads up pretty badly.
The internet only win when they catch their miracle card. When there cards don't come, they don't know how to play and they are severely outmatched by his like NEGREANU
You see Coleman's face after he flipped his hand. Like he's not good, or there's a chance he could have the worst hand. He was like "full house?". Smug fuck. Doug you think you could be my new dad? Fuck that sign?
I don't get the whole thing about Negreanu's KQ being too weak to call. Coleman's range is polarized on the river. How would a one pair hand, for example, be any better in this situation?
Couldn't colman be bluffing with a jack or an eight thinking that Daniel has him beat?

If he would bluff those hands (especially the jack) rather than showdown, I suppose you are right. I just think Coleman is much more likely to have complete air or a nuttish hand.
the other thing is that a pair acts as a MUCH better blocker than a non spade king. which makes it being air more likely. If he had a 4/8/J here he makes it much less likely that dan gets to here with a full house so he blocks more full houses.
he also leaves more bluffs open if he doesn't have the Q of spades, leaving open the K Q as a possibility for the other person to have and to have got to the turn the same way daniel did and then bricking on the river.
of course by him not having the spade he leaves it more likely the opponent could be bluffing with a spade and missed his flush.
But yea mostly it's that anytime you pair you make it less likely the other guy has his. I mean if he just has say A 5 he makes it much less likely the other guy has A 4 which makes makes you take that out of his range.
In this case he has that but yea it's mostly about pairs meaning that there are less full house combos and more bluff combos that are reasonable.

nope, as Ax connected and KQ is nothing but the nut no pair.
Benni Plex I don't think you understand that Colman is repping a flush or better with that bet. That's what 'polarized' means. Colman is never betting a J an 8 or just a lone ace this way. This is why negreanu finds a call here. I guess I don't really expect you to understand this thought process.
Not in the sense that KQ blocks a lot of the bluffs that Coleman can have which then skews Coleman's range to more value than it would if Neg. had Ax, which would block a few of Coleman's value hands
