    Just want to say i watch alot of your vids cause i have 2 crown vics myself. I watched this vid on the actuator but then ended up watching another for clarification. Well for those of use wit no rivet tool handy theres a great faster alternative. Remove the metal bracket from the new one. Remove the old one from its bracket. Then try to place the new one in the old bracket. It took me less than 5 minutes to remove the old one and place the new one

      thank you for that workaround. I love those sorts of tips because buying specialized tools isn't always practical

    That was certainly a lot faster than I expected. I had them replace a lock actuator on my Grand Marquis at the local dealership and it took a fair bit of time. The service guy came to see me and said that the tech was fighting with the rivets holding the actuator in place. Not sure why Ford decided to rivet those actuators in rather than use a bolt.

    0:20 My Vic's driver door lock has been making that buzzing noise when locking for the past 6 years.
    So far ignoring it has been working out. Lol
    You make me want to replace mine now. Can you put the part numbers, and links in the description?

    You sir are a life saver. It’s absolutely wonderful when you’ve got an in-depth video documenting the exact issue I’m having. Also what do you use for your interior detailing? Them door panels look fantastic.

    On my 2011 Police Interseptor both rear doors wouldnt lock but I got the left rear working by spraying lube on latch and other pieces. Didnt work on rt one though. Had to replace Actuator.

      I tried lubricating mine before replacing and I didn't see any improvement. There is probably a way to "rebuild" them but I didn't try to figure it out

  • @joed8810

    Perfect, I have the same issue. Passenger door actuators all work except that one when it’s actuated the lock rod just vibrates like the actuator isn’t attached? Should I replace actuator in that case? I want to solidify them so this doesn’t become a recurring issue.

    • @WJHandyDad
      @WJHandyDad  2 роки тому

      sounds like broken actuator. I'm sure there is a way to remove them and "repair" them but replace is easy

    My pass front stopped working completely but when I opened the door I found the rivet for the one under the door latch is there anyway just to swap that?

    • @WJHandyDad

      if the lock actuator is still working then yes, you can just reattach it

    So in my 2005 i have this problem with both driver and passenger. But heres another thing. My driver switch isnt working even with multiple switches. I have bought new and used but it will not lock or unlock any of the doors. The passenger switch unlocks all but does not lock them. Could this be due to the bad actuators because from what I was told a 05 doesnt have a door lock module only actuators. Ill be changing both but Im curious as to why the switch isnt working

      sounds like you need to get in there and start checking things with a multimeter. Good luck, chasing down electrical issues is not fun!

    I know this vid is a year old but I'm having a issue with my driver door lock. It's stuck in the lock position. I can only unlock it by the handle inside, which it immediately locks as soon as I let go. Using the key on the outside is very hard to turn and I have keep it turned and open the door, it feels like it will end up breaking my key. Can I unhook that hook that is on top of the actuator in the door that is attached to the locking rod and leave it unhooked and manually lock my door?

    • @WJHandyDad
      @WJHandyDad  Рік тому

      wow that sounds crazy... as if the lock button is constantly being pressed or something. Start with the easiest - disconnect the lock/unlock button and see what happens. Good luck, sometimes electrical problems can be a bear to track down.
