Sharon !!!!!!! What a great voice, wonderful song brilliant backing. This is really world class. A great song not only has a great tune, lyrics but tells a story -tyis has it all. All class
A truly beautiful song from a truly beautiful New Zealand artist
What beautiful production values! Pure '80s magic.
Very talented song writer & easy on the eye.😅
Love ya Sharon!
In Australia we grew up on Sharon O Neill and thank god for that. Amazing singer.
Great you hear our kiwi girl gave you happiness with her music.....she's one of our best here in New Zealand 😊
Still listening 2020 lol
Didn't appreciate this song then. Love it now.
These lyrics. Wonderful.
Sharon so pretty and what a great voice
Real talent great music
My favorite song
I've always liked Sharon's singing voice since I first heard her here in Oz in the early 80s
This is her best song.
Amazing song, amazing voice. How this wasn’t a worldwide smash hit I will never understand. I can only assume some people and corporations made sure it just never got the airplay and exposure it truly deserved.
I have her Danced in the fire CD as well as Foreign Affairs CD first pressing, I cherish them both and I'm from the US.
And the even rarer Edge Of Winter CD which I heard was a very limited release, Sharon herself only has one copy of it!!
I do know it was about her acrimonious split from Sony/CBS ... kept her from recording for a few years back in the day.
It’s now 2020, and I’m still listening to this music. So talented.
This is a beautiful song, just wonderful! Always loved Sharon since I first heard her music on the radio in 1983 as a young teenager.
Great song my kiwi girl! You were my absolute favorite kiwi singer...you still are babe 💖💜💙
Great lyrics!
An 80s hidden 💎. Remember having to do a special order for this as a 7" single.
I have Sharon's Danced in the fire and Foreign Affairs CD first pressing!!
I recently also got her rarer Edge Of Winter CD!!
I left NZ for North American shores in May of 1987 and yet I know this song well. A quick search will find out that it did indeed come out in '87 as described.
This lady is a great talent. Wonderful voice and terrific writing ability. Love this song and all her music. Lives with Allan Mansfield ex Dragon in Sydney
Thanks Eamon! I quite like Dragon too - discovered them in the late 1990s when they were doing another tour or the first tour for a long time.
@@adelaidedupont9017 Good things come in small packages! I first saw and met you in a Pub/nightclub on the Terrace in Wellington in 1978. Very attractive lady too and still is to this day - lucky American Al
My favourite of Sharon's!

@@archielaird9016 That was a great representation of the rising generation of #newzealand #singersongwriters - and #jennymorris comes down into my own time/appreciation - as does #margaretulrich . #brookefraser had done some really awesome #charityconcerts . #shonalaing I know not ...

Sweet As Bro ...
beautiful song :)
I love the New Zealand Police Commissioner
That's who I love
The lyrics are about her fall out with her previous record company.
That was in the late 1970s, yes?
@@adelaidedupont9017 I think this came out in 1987 so it was around that time. I saw her a Pub in Wellington and you could tell she was extremely talented
@@eamonstafford2056 What a great vision you'll remember forever [32 years since].
My first impression of O'Neill was in 2007-08 - some 20 years later - through an album called #songwritersspeak which had lots of Australian and New Zealand #songwriters.
It’s about many things.
@@adelaidedupont9017 Way to modern for the 70's.. Single was the 2nd one released from the LP of the same name. Early '88.
Aren’t tricks for children ? So many creeps out there especially lawyers
I've no doubt, but I think Sharon here is using 'lawyers' in relation to her years-long battle to get out of her recording contract with CBS, which is why she couldn't release anything new for 4 years. She deals with the record company creeps in the previous single, 'Physical Favours'.
ohnoitisnathan50 yes I really liked her music 😊♥️
