@@chad6034 I never really got into the Harry Potter movies but I am a really big fan of Daniel Radcliffe...every movie I have seen him in he does a really good job.

Radcliffe doesn’t mention that it’s set to the song “Modern Major General” from the operetta “Pirates of Penzance” by Britain’s own Gilbert and Sullivan. IMO the best version of the song is on the live album “An Evening Wasted With Tom Lehrer”. In addition to his career as a musical humorist , Lehrer was also a professor of mathematics at Harvard. Very fitting because “Lehrer” means “teacher” in German.
Lehrer taught a class called Math For Non-Scientists at UC Santa Cruz in 1987. All of the Arts students were desperate to get a spot, and i was one of the lucky ones. I had no idea who he was at the time, though. We couldn’t Google in 1987. He taught us logic and it was a good class. He was tough. But I’m grateful I had that experience.
I remember being in my year 9 science class and BEGGING my teacher to play it for us so to find that he knows all the freaking elements and can not only pronounce their name but rap them as well is like pretty mind boggling! Lehrer is indeed a genius. Him and Weird Al are right up there at the top! The fact that Dan is such a fan of both gives him high marks for character, intelligence, and quirkiness. Love it! I've loved Tom Lehrer since my friend introduced me to his work when were in high school in the 1990s. Even I have to admit that I was never quite so dedicated as to memorize this specific song. I know several Lehrer songs by heart; this is not one of them!! Major props to Mr. Radcliffe for memorizing this, and performing it so well! If he had had accompaniment, I bet he would have done even better; he was kind of rushing through, a bit. The tempo really is that fast, but the accompaniment lends the proper meter and cadence, and doesn't skip hastily over the instrumental measures. Dan was trying to just show off his party trick as quickly as possible, rather than actually performing the song. Which, in this context, was probably the correct assessment of the audience's attention span. Still, very well done!
I recently watched this at school and it was so good. I really have to give Daniel Radcliffe praise for that 😊. To: Daniel Radcliffe.
