The US doesn't really have the culture for skin care. Majority of the US culture is focused on tanning. By that definition they are damaging their skin. Nothing has been better for my skin than prescription retinol and then clean beauty. Korean skincare is very affordable and effective. I tried a 10 step and it was nice. But using the retinol and clean beauty without silicones, dyes, alcohol and fragrance has changed my skin. Its pricy but Drunk Elephant hits it all. Virgin Marula Oil clears and hydrates your skin. Legit GLOW. Then at night the TLC night serum with AHA and not synthetics is incredible. I use on opposite nights of retinol. All I need in the day is sunscreen (clean). I work with brands on product development and packaging and what we put on our skin gets into our bloodstream. There are numerous options for beautiful skin not just K Beauty. Its genius marketing. Many Koreans still use European skincare. Its what works for you.
Hungarians were concentrating on good skincare and knew the importance of taking care of your skin for a long time. Usually a Hungarian woman has her trusted beautician who takes care of her skin, whom she visits regularly and is a friend as well. Going to your beautician is like visiting your club/spa. The best products are made in Hungary and plant or thermal water based and do not contain preservatives hence they are kept in the fridge and well, cannot be exported. The most famous is of course the Ilcsi product line. I came to the United States in 87 first and was appalled to see American women having blemished really not attractive skin and covering it up with heavy plasterlike makeup which most of the time didn’t even match their skin tone. Today they have much better skin but still spend more money on their nails than on their facials. In Korea from what I have seen is it is more a dermatologist whom you go to see if you want clean skin of even just to take care of a pimple. In Hungary your beautician will do that for you. They perform minor surgeries as cool as a cucumber. Needless to say dermatologists do all kinds of wonders for your skin there but well, those are more medical procedures. What gets me is the eyebrow thing in Korea. Apparently they color their hair but for some reason do not get their eyebrows shaped and tinted by a professional. Instead there is a whole wide selection of eyebrow pencils and shadows and tints and mascaras with which they try to match their eyebrows to their hair color. I am not even going to mention here what Americans do: color their hair but not their eyebrows so they look like wearing a wig. Especially men with dark brown hair and gray eyebrows is a sight that is killing me. But back to S. Korea: they also shave their eyebrows instead of plucking or waxing them. I don’t have to tell you that a shaved thing is always stubbly (see waxed legs versus shaved legs) so they need to cover it up with loads of concealer. In Hungary we have our eyebrows shaped by our beautician who plucks or waxes and tints it along with our eyelashes and then for a month we forget about it because it is always perfect. We have been waxing our bodies as well since like forever. So no South Korea didn’t invent the wheel. What they have is strong ambition and a smart business sense and the ability to evolve incredibly fast. A cutthroat local competition drives its international evolution and spread. Their products are very good and reasonably priced. I use and adore SK cosmetic products but whenever I go to Budapest my next day - sometimes same day - visit is to my old beautician. Other European country that are similar to Hungary in this respect and that I know of: Romania. Interestingly not France.
I have hormonal acne and Korean skin care products helped me a lot over the past few years. I get a pimple here and there from time to time but it's not as worse as it been some years ago. Their products are free of many dangerous stuff and I prefer investing more in skin care than makeup. They also make stuff which are not animal tested and the packaging is made from recycled materials inked with soy ink. Prices range a lot as they also have top brands and there are many drugs store type. Even if some didnt worked for my skin it didn't made things worse at least. You just need to find what goes well with your skin type. And their skin care routines are the best. I hope Koreans will keep doing good stuff.

Not only Beauty, Korea is taking over the world in literally every categories: Entertainment (music/films/dramas), Finance, Industry, Technology, Tourism, Army, literally everything, Korea is the future of this planet, our kids will learn Korean at school in a near future.
I used to use western skincare brands such as loreal and glamglow and my skin only got worse...once i made the jump to asian (mostly korean) skincare, I actually started seeing results...my skin now is almost perfect, i no longer have visible texture, my pores are no longer visible, and my acne scars and discoloration are almost completely gone. i'll always push you in the direction of korean skincare, it works and it doesn't break the bank, what more could you ask for?
The skin care is very important not only for the social media, for bussines world too, because it representes a new market and life style in whinch the companies need to dream up more products. In South Korea’s case this increase his exportations as a result of his popularity. Others brands want to get more information about that, however they need to visit this Asian Country or create agreement with Koreans companies (this actions augment the International Trade); the skin care go on with power, that means more innovation on the products, because everybody like natural products and goods results in our skins.
I'm a Korean. My family and many acquaintances have good skin. So we don't need to stick to expensive cosmetics, and Korean cosmetic brands have good quality while being cheap. I don't know, although it is true that Koreans take good care of their skin than other countries did, it is also true that Korean water quality, geographic advantage, eating habits, and heredity, etc. also affect the good skin of Koreans.
I suffered with acne for over 3 years. I tried everything from medication to expensive cleansers. I made dietary changes, yet nothing seemed to help until I visited South Korea! I’ve only been using their products for the last couple of months yet everyone notices the difference in my skin. I hardly use foundation or concealer. Thanks Korea!
I've been using some korean products to treat my acne problems. And it really and amazingly works great. I highly recommend them. My sister are using some and she told me that her skin are getting softer. And I see that her face is brighter too. So I really like this korean makeup. And yes it's cheaper but better.
Kbeauty is a huge industry here and the result are incredible :) but for a foreigner it can be pretty hard to have access to it if you are in south korea.
Korean skincare products are more affordable and the ingredients in the cosmetic products are way milder instead of having harmful components which only gives temporary effect and causes pimples afterwards.(ofcourse not every products)
As a Korean, we do look after our skin well since our childhood. It's a part of our life routine. I've been using various types of global skincare products, but I always go back to Korean skincare products. Innisfree is one of the best K-brand in every aspect!
Three things you actually need to do with your skin to keep it looking great. 1. Cleanse (so use makeup remover, whatever form, even if you’re only wearing sun cream) 2. Moisturise (self-explanatory. But you don’t need to go overboard and have 10 products. One good moisturiser will suffice) 3. Protect (i.e. wear sun cream NO MATTER WHAT. Even when it’s cloudy in the bleak mid-winter, wear some sun protection).
I just love South Korea skin care. I am in LOOOVE with the 20% vitamin C serum and also cosmetic procedures are not expensive so your skin can look its best and not really not pricey
One thing i noticed, they are really not just making money but really helping people with skin problems. It's cheap, it's safe, and it works! So, why not?
Before KPOP I never knew anything about Korea and never did I think they were a Beaty industry because I personally never thought that an Asian person was good looking but NOW I see them very differently 😍
Korean cosmetics companies lead the world by listening to their consumers of what they really want for their skin and not trying to force down by marketing what they think we should use. 100% for a moisturiser??? so so expensive
It’s simply because Asians especially S. Korea care about their skincare products. They invest in a lot of natural ingredients instead of using harsh chemicals most of the time like the US. It’s not like the US don’t do the same, but it seem their concern is more about the money than care of the human body...
my skin was always really unstable and I would attack it with us products and astringents... when I switched to Japanese and Korean products that focused more on hydration and nurturing of the skin, my skin totally changed! it's amazing how my skin prefers the formulation of those products over American ones... whenever I see American skin products I'm always so wary to try them bc I always view them as being cheaper and just not as good
“At the end of the day people want to see results”. so damn true!.... people want to see results that aren’t damaging to your skin and that’s affordable as well.... not everyone is rich and can just drop $500 on a cream/moisturizer. Having extreme sensitive skin makes it difficult to use western brands so I ended up not using any skincare or beauty products. However, when a friend introduced me to korean skincare I haven’t looked back. I love the stuff I use. It’s at a good price, it’s QUALITY products, and I got results fast. I also enjoy their beauty products as well. Both the korean beauty products and skincare products are sensitive skin friendly and easy to use.
At 40+... only Dr Jart really works for me. Other korean brands are often changing containers n series...so confusing When s.o in 20 or 30 ish regret paying expensive skin care or make up...I personally do not regret at all...bcos at 40+ it works
I've tried Korean skincare, but my favourite brand Cosmo biogem RDA was discontinued! Honestly this stuff was the best. I used it for years and I have never found any brand like it. Currently I prefer American skincare and cosmetics, brands like Devita, Ecco Bella. If you look at the ingredients list most Korean brands have water, glycerin, dimethicone as the primary ingredients. What they do add that is different from American and European brands are crosspolymers that can be used to repair skin. Crosspolymer gels are used for wound healing.
I didnt have cystic acne or major acne problems growing up, but I did have minor small acne bumps that wouldnt go away no matter when product I use. Korean skincare was the only thing that helpe give me the results that I wanted and its been almost a decade and I still swear by it to this day.
When I was still in the Philippines, I used Korean skincare products and helped my skin greatly. But then I moved to the US, and ran out of my products. I don't usually buy in Amazon (sometimes, products are fake like my CosRx pimple patch) so I bought directly from Soko Glam or Style Korea. While waiting for my products, I used American brands such as Neutrogena Toner, it smells alcohol and it's too strong for my skin T-T. I use CosRx, Nature Republic, Some by Me, and Innisfree for sensitive skin.
Whenever I saw Americans tanning themselves under the sun on beach, my soul screamed knowing that they are exposing thenselves to the harmful UV rays that causes skin cancer. I wonder how many Americans realize that.

I think that the most important factor in the success of South Korean skincare is very simple actually: QUALITY!
The quality is high and one sees results on his/her skin.
Korean skincare works and are cheaper than the French skincare I used to love. I haven't seen my face with any base makeup on since I started using Korean skincare.
Do you recommend any brand?
I think the more socially "acceptable" it becomes for men to take care of our skin, the industry will double in profits, size and number of products aimed towards men.

Korea’s sunscreen is much lighter and less heavier! Lovely!

I love Korean skin care products. There are so many options, they are affordable, the quality is extraordinary but most importantly it works! Seriously, it is nonsense to pay for lotions, serums, eye creams, sunscreen, etc... for hundreds of dollars (ie Estee Lauder brands) the ingredients from Korean products are usually safer and much cheaper.

At the beginning, I was skeptical about some steps of K skin care, I tried The Ordinary instead. Oh boy, I got really good complexion on my skin, but afterward I got big acnes coming out. It seems every time I woke up in the morning, new acne popped on my face. The review said it is purging, but it last till couple months, so I stop using T.O, then I moved to K skin care. They work slow, indeed, but my skin has good progress. And the most important, no acne. Now I am consistent with this K skin care.
The US doesn't really have the culture for skin care. Majority of the US culture is focused on tanning. By that definition they are damaging their skin. Of course South Korea makes huge money from skincare because they are the most hard working in this industry around the world and keep on developing better products, with one jar of cream ranging from 10 bucks to 500 bucks. They created cushion foundation now every brand around the world copies the idea.
I used to use French brands as Sisley & Darphin . Now I completely switch to Korean brands . Their products contain lots of good ingredients such as herbals & Ginseng , pretty high quality & love it a lot.

i'm soooo happy with the result of my korean skin care routine. With $10 toner, serum, acne treatment. My acne and acne scars has almost gone now for only 3 months of use. The products i used don't contain alcohol, fragrance, and other ingredients that usually exist in non-korean skin care products.
The korean beauty gurus also teach me a lot about ingredients that fit my skin so now i can choose my products more wisely instead of only relying on the product packaging that says 'anti acne' or 'brightening'
Because they give you the real result and progress on your skin.. Result speak louder than the prestige I think
I’ve personally always been overwhelmed by the choices of skincare, and so when i was 16 and found something i liked, i haven’t changed since. So i guess another aspect of the market is that there’s strong customer loyalty.
it's cheaper, effective and more specific to each skin's need
It’s popular probably because it does what it says it does unlike western skincare companies that advertise like crazy and then fall back on false claims. Western skincare companies would probably be more reputable if they didn’t pour exorbitant amounts of money into manipulating people to buy their products
Who else only buys from Korea?🙌🏼
Korean skincare is gentle and affordable. I'm so glad I was turned on to the good stuff. Soon Jung especially, so good for sensitive skin and so inexpensive
In Korea, we even have an app that shows all the ingredients in most of cosmetics that sold in Korea. And also it tells what they are for each ingredients. @@jol7851 same as what? Alot of road shop brands do admittedly have bleh stuff but serious lines are really good. The only choice for aha used to be paulas choice and before i discovered cosrx it would sting my face so bad。 it would be harder to find innovative ingredients with 90% snail extracts and centella in an average american pharmacy imo. The idea of pushing extra hydration is a korean thing. I once only traveled with a skin care oil but because i didnt have my toners and serums my face was so parched under the oil.
Ever since I introduced Korean products (and double cleansing) to my routine I’ve been able to see great results!
I use Korean skin care products because they give amazing results with my skin and mainly everyone in Korean knows how to take care of their skin, they’re big on skin care there.
They actually work lol thats why and their makeup doesnt make you look like a wrinkly cake

Sleep and hydration are the most effective skin care strategies. 😊
Koreans take skincare religiously and I must say, they're the best when it comes to skincare.

Question still remains. Does it actually work just as well for ethnic skin. Melaninated skin.
