Everybody say CHEESE...Wafers!! Perfect treat for your holiday gatherings and parties. #memesrecipes #shineforjesus #cheese #cheeserecipe #wafer Original film date: 12/5/22
Confession time, although I love your recipe’s Me Me. I truly watch these videos because you make my heart smile Everytime ☺️. In this world of chaos, unkindness, and narcissism, you are a breath of fresh air! My grandma’s are with Jesus now, but you are the next best thing to their warmth and sweet spirits. America needs a grandma like you right now. God bless you to the fullest, you bless me so dearly.
Oh MeMe, I started watching your videos for your southern recipes, but I think I am watching your videos just as much because of you. Watching you just warms my heart and makes me smile all day. What a wonderful person you are.
Here in the Los Angeles area you can still buy Nucoa Margarine! But please, MeMe, use butter from now on! I've just made this recipe with 1 pound of REAL butter, (since I do not buy margarine), and they were perfect! 😊🧈🧈🧈🧈🎉
I’m thankful that you posted your comment on using butter. I was going to give it a try because I never buy margarine. Thank you for letting us know that butter is great in this. 💚💚💚
II tried these and took them to school to be taste tested by high schoolers and teachers. The teachers loved them and some said that they tasted like Red Lobster's biscuits! They loved them. The teen agers liked them but wanted to dip them in ranch or some sort of bacon ranch sauce. Loved making them and having them taste tested! New viewer and try so hard each day to Shine for Jesus!!
I'm going to make this and do half with lard and half with beef tallow and see what happens. Recently substituted tallow for Crisco in a cookie recipe and it came out perfect . The Crisco was substituted for lard in the original recipe 60 years ago . Butter , lard and tallow are healthier for you than margarine . Thanks for all your videos .
They look delicious. Will try them for Thanks Giving or Christmas. Thank you. You are truly Precious. Thank you for everything you cook and show us and especially your stories. Love to hear you talk. God bless you and your family. Stay safe. Love ya. ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Ms Diane. I know how you love butter, my mama has been using butter to make the cheese wafers for ages instead of margarine. Thank you for recipes and videos.
May God bless you and your family . I LOVE to watch your videos . Thank you for the cheese wafer recipe, they are delicious. Happy New Year to you MeMe and to your family . 😍😍😍
I made a 1/2 batch of these for Football Saturday thos weekend and they are VERY tasty and so easy!!! They will be a great addition for my Christmas goody bags this year.
Wasn’t Nucoa white shortening in a plastic bag with a yellow food coloring capsule which one mashed through the plastic bag and squeezes it repeatedly until it was completely colored? My sister and I loved doing this! Pre 1950’s kids were more easily entertained. ❤️
MeMe you just made my most favorite treat!! My grandmother would make me these every Christmas and you so remind me of her! There wasn't anything like my "Mamaw". She taught me how to cook and I still miss her everyday!! Thanks for doing your videos and making your cookbooks. May God bless you and your family everyday!! I wish there was a world full of MeMe's!!❤
I just got a new place and really wanted to make thes;but every where i looked they were using mixers. Thank you MeMe!! Now i can have cheese crisps too!!
Do you have the ingredients written? Do you spray baking sheet with non stick spray? Are they supposed to be served hot or room temperature? Sorry for all the questions. Can I freeze after making?
According to Google... Nucoa is still available. "One of the first famous brands of margarine to be made using hydrogenated oil was Nucoa, introduced in 1917 by a company later merged into Best Foods. Using hardened coconut oil as its basic ingredient, it represented a major advance in product quality. Nucoa tastes better, cooks better, fries better and bakes better because it's real margarine; not stretched out with water as some brands are. Nucoa's special formula won't smoke or burn in your frying pan at normal temperatures."
We make these at Christmas. We add chopped pecans. We make long slender rolls and roll up in wax paper and put into a gallon ziplock bag. Taking out to slice and bake after chilled good. Or as needed. Our daughters come over and we make enough for us all to have at our homes.
stay tuned... we have had issues with other channels stealing my videos. UA-cam is helping us and I am loading more and more videos to my authentic channel. Stay tuned.
I really dislike margarine in anything and just can't imagine a pound of it. Would it work with butter or is the melting point so different that the wafers won't hold together properly? Thanks for any thoughts/advice.
I have made cheese straws/wafers many times, and they freeze well! Form the dough into very small balls (a melon ball scoop works great!) and place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Use a fork to press each ball (criss-cross). Place in freezer for at least 1 hour or until you're sure they are frozen. They can be transferred to a Ziploc freezer bag until ready to bake! 😊 MeMe, I'm so excited that my cookbook will be arriving today! Can't wait to try out your wonderful recipes. God Bless!

I wouldn’t hesitate to use butter. I don’t use margarine either.
Of course you can use butter!
I love, love love you ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Your recipes are fabulous ❣️❣️❣️❣️
I’ve made thousands of these for catering gigs. I always use butter, sometimes with bacon fat for barbecues.
I am going to get daring and try this with buttuh!

I love to see you laugh!
🤣
This reminds me of cheese straws because the recipe is similar.
Margarine is supposed to really be bad for you. I wonder if butter would work?
Yes.

Would there be a noticeable difference if I used sharp cheddar instead of extra sharp? Thank you!
totally fine!
Looks delicious 😋 😍 👌 😜
My grandfather used to make these but he put them in a cookie press and made them thin and called them cheese straws ❤️
👍🏻🙂😋
Yummy! Thx for sharing this.

Haven't heard the word Nucoa for years!
Wasn’t Nucoa white shortening in a plastic bag with a yellow food coloring capsule which one mashed through the plastic bag and squeezes it repeatedly until it was completely colored? My sister and I loved doing this! Pre 1950’s kids were more easily entertained. ❤️
She’s delightful. Really enjoyed watching her make her recipe and her presentation.
Thank you so much

Where do you get all your cute tops?
I get my things from Talbots, Chicos, TJ Maxx and even a few things from Walmart.🙂❤️
Do you have the ingredients written? Do you spray baking sheet with non stick spray? Are they supposed to be served hot or room temperature? Sorry for all the questions.
Can I freeze after making?
I suggest you freeze the dough, instead of cooking them first. I serve mine at room temperature and I do not spray the pan.🙂
MeMe, you know margerine is PLASTIC.
What happens if I use butter instead?
By all means, try it. Make it your own.

I really dislike margarine in anything and just can't imagine a pound of it. Would it work with butter or is the melting point so different that the wafers won't hold together properly? Thanks for any thoughts/advice.
My original recipe insisted on margarine. Lots of viewers claim they have made them with butter. I am going to give it a try.
@@memesrecipessc - thank you. And I’ll try one with margarine to see if I can tell. After all there is also a pound of cheese in there!
I don't like margarine either, did you try making them with butter? If so, did they turn out good?
@usmom1113 I made a full 1 pound batch today and they were perfect! No reason to give up the taste of real, delicious butter! 😋 🧈💛
