    The Olympic preparation is well under way. All the other opponents are put on notice.
    Undoubtedly the greatet judo of all time, and not just the biggest winner like N. Adams keeps calling him.

    Looks like a shootout between Teddy and Tasoev in Paris, both looking great and nobody else really doing much.
    Going to give home field advantage to Teddy.
    Would be some sight to see him win Olympic gold in the Bercy.

    RIner is a generational judoka. However, in the coaching back rooms of Russia and Japan (just to name two) they are cooking up ways to beat him. Those ways will be rolled out at the Olympics. It’s the nature of the elite game and makes it so very interesting to watch. This is one of the only channels where that level of competition gets some illumination, which I appreciate. 😊

    • @alexanderbridge161
      @alexanderbridge161 Місяць тому +1

      Really? Have they been cooking up ways to beat him for the past decade? You think they would've started sooner considering he's been making Russian and Japanese Judoka look like crap for over a decade. Can't wait to see what they 'cook up' though mate! Riner is the the best and will win gold easily, just accept it.

    • @tommyrq180
      @tommyrq180 Місяць тому

      @@alexanderbridge161 They’re ALWAYS cooking up ways to beat him. Maybe your “just accept it” is just idle tough talk. Despite big programs focusing on RIner, he still has gotten it done-that’s what makes him great. But there are always new ideas, new athletes, and actual competition where anything can happen. The entire, very formidable Soviet wrestling enterprise focused on taking out Dan Gabel in 1972 Munich Olympics and in his six matches nobody scored a point on Gable. But I talked with him about what the Soviets threw at him. Dagestani Ruslan Ashuraliyev was their 168kg pick and he came with a particular unique set of strategies; all of which Gable was able to counter. My point was that at that level, nobody “just accepts it.” They all concentrate even more on someone with that pedigree and that’s why the great ones, who manage to prevail in spite of it, are great.

      Yep, there are many techniques to win over a taller component. Close the gap, go for the legs, etc.

    Would Riner be as dominant as he is if he was average sized?

    • @JudoHighlights2015
      @JudoHighlights2015  Місяць тому

      Probably

    • @TheNEOverse
      @TheNEOverse Місяць тому

      If he tried to use the Teddy Riner techniques that he uses as a tall guy? Probably not.
      He would likely fight differently however, and if we suppose he's still a great athlete then why wouldn't he be capable of performing as well? Being tall isn't gamebreaking in Judo, he simply knows how to leverage his gifts.

    • @jamesbarringer7935
      @jamesbarringer7935 Місяць тому +1

      That’s the million dollar question, and in my view the answer is no, not even close. He’s a magnificent physical specimen and no doubt a fine athlete, but because of his overwhelming size I don’t think his judo technical skills ever needed to be more than average - which is what I think they are. Not a popular opinion, I realize. And of course, never having seen him train in person, I might not have any real basis for this view. But in combat sports, size absolutely matters, and Riner’s size is a dispositive weapon on its own.

    • @IRACEMABABU
      @IRACEMABABU Місяць тому +2

      Hey, we are speaking of athletes, and to be a big, great and fit one is 100% part of the game. If you want to defeat him, you have to be bigger, greater and more fit than him.... Your question is irrelevant and useless.

  • @Shiren7
    @Shiren7 Місяць тому +3

    0:44 HAHA good joke! - they would NEVER EVER give riner a hansokumake. this is NEVER EVER going to happen. he gets the maximum of judge support since 14 years and sometimes his opponents even get robbed.

  • @brankoratkovic8593
    @brankoratkovic8593 Місяць тому

    Well, here he seams to be on the top of the game, but look carefully and analyze his posture, griping tactitcs, and was here some athlets who chalenged him to dig deep. On the OI there would be guys who took his scalp before, or was very close to achive that. He don't have much points so it is possible that he would face some of them early in the contest.
    Now breaking grip with two hands is legal, elite oponents are more aggresive and has better stamina than him, if the fight goes to golden score he would be on slippery ground.
    IJF had too much scandals with his fights considering refereeing, so maybe he will be judged fairly, but the French JF showed many times that they are stronger than IJF. We will see...
    Just saying, this performance was good, but he has long and hard road ahead of him if he wants gold medal on OI...
