I get at least 3-4 emails per week from different people saying I owe an invoice for something. Luckily, they go directly to my spam folder, which I empty daily.

Nothing new. Same scam. Different clueless victims. As long as the scam works, it will never stop.

No sympathy for people who fall for this. The money is better off somewhere else.

These scams often fool those who lack the education and/or language fluency and/or memory ability to spot the typos and other red flags. There is a reason seniors and immigrants are more often scammed.

Does anyone remember American from before the war on drugs? We had the worlds safest streets. The American public was goaded into building the largest police state on the planet over the war on drugs. When scammers openly, and brazenly rob Americans...the police throw up their hands proclaiming they're helpless to stop them. At the same time we see countless videos, where 20 cops show up when a citizen wants to film in a court house, or they find someone, that their fellow officers "tuned up", and pile up on the victim, with false charges. How about when the police bring a militarized swat team for a wellness check, just to cause 470k in damage to their victim's house. Tell politicians to stop trying to make easy criminals of school children, and use the police for the purpose of stopping and enforcing real crimes. We have so clogged out legal system, with b*llsh*t drug cases, the police are too busy...to protect use from real threats from international fraudsters, and criminals. Our political leaders use the police as our task masters, to micromanage the lives of ordinary Americans, while permitting international criminals the freedom to steal, con, and defraud those same Americans. This is the fruit of the war on drugs. We can either have safe streets, with honest government, or a war on drugs. We can't have both. This is what the founding fathers warned, and feared would happen.

The fact is there are many people who open everything (SMS, Email etc) they see on the device and follow the link. That's why we all still get the scam. It still works.
