In the '90s, I went to a Tina Turner concert. Joe Cocker opened for her. Joe's final encode song was "With A Little Help From My Friends". He had three female backup singers. One of the backups stepped forward and did the last verse/chorus with Joe Cocker. It was Tina Turner! The finished the song, Joe stepped back and Tine Turner began her portion with Proud Mary. Joe Cocker was one of her backup singers for that song. The transition from a Joe Cocker concert to a Tina Turner concert was seamless. Brilliant!
As a teenager I liked the song high Time we went I love the piano in it... Then I liked up where we belong with Jennifer Warnes, his cover of you are so beautiful and I also liked his live version of unchain My heart❤
My husband played this for me and looked at me and told me that he could not sing it as well as this, I know at my age I am past being beautiful, but my husband always swore to me I was the best thing that he had ever seen. Sadly he passed away suddenly a couple of months ago. I just wish I could see that look of love in his eyes once more.
Yep. Joe sang a lot of covers, but with great respect and honour. Often with his own twist. And ALWAYS from his soul. His voice and presence was incredible.♥

its pretty deplorable that Joe is not in the Hall of Fame. I'm sure i can't be the only one that wept when I found out he passed. The way he sings all generations will love him.. forever.
Wasn't he wonderful? And so right, he put his soul to work radiating outwards. He wasn't always treated well by the labels in America. That's the main reason he returned to the UK. RIP Mr Joe. I have enjoyed his music for many decades.
I'm an old timer who grew up with Mr. Cocker. Loved his music and performance. The group I hung out with called him spastic man because of his movements. No disrespect intended to the ledgend. There will never be another like him.
I watched a documentary about Joe Cocker a few years back, I think, and it makes you realize how broken this man was. How hard he tried to be happy. You watch it, and it just breaks your heart to know he didn't believe he deserved all he worked for. He was such a beautiful, wounded soul.
Funny you should mention Ray Charles. Joe sang it with Ray on Piano in a show at The Coconut Grove Night Club of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles celebrating Ray's 40 years in showbusiness.
There are only a handful of singers in rock history who have this kind of "heart and soul on display" emotion: Joe Cocker, Steve Perry, the Righteous Brothers, Bob Seger, Lionel Richie, Ray Charles.
When you find an artist that instantly removes you from your surroundings, that's the rabbit hole you want to jump down into. Joe cocker made a living from doing covers...... like nobody else could! His entire record “Stingray" is a banger, not widely recognized due to poor promotion. Some must-listen suggestions: She Came In Thru The Bathroom Window, The Jealous Kind, Catfish (About the pitching great Catfish Hunter), A Song For You (My all time favorite of his), Look What you’ve Done, Feelin Alright, and Worrier. JC passed away in Dec of 2014 at 70 years of age from lung cancer….. RIP JC and TY for the music you left us. Great reaction as always, TY.
Joe puts EVERYTHING into his performances. He delivers at a level that almost seems not human. His soulfulness is on display and he moves his audience. Thank you so much for your great reaction and for zeroing right in on his special talent. Love me some Joe Cocker. 👏👏👏🥰
This song gives me chills and makes me tear up. You are such a good dad wanting to play this epic classic for your daughters. What a message for them to hear from their Daddy.
It was said that Joe Cocker felt the music so hard, he couldn't stop his body from moving, as if it was playing every instrument at the same time.......By all accounts, this amazing man, was the most gentle person you could ever meet, and wore his soul like a blanket, for all of us to see 💗💗💗 ***RIP GREAT ONE*** 💗💗💗
@@tazjammer That was actually a rumor.....Joe Cocker never had cerebral palsy, and in one of his quotes ""I never played organ or piano or guitar, so it was more out of frustration and me just trying to impersonate in a way," Cocker explained. "I did it subconsciously. People mistook for me being ill, like I had palsy. I'm not nearly so demonstrative now, but I still have my own way of feeling the rhythm."
❤About 15 years ago, I took my 3 kids out to dinner. My son was just starting college then. The restaurant had karaoke, and I sung this and dedicated it to them. It was hard not to cry. ❤
In the 70s when we used to get to even see Joe Cocker on TV We always refer to him as being spastic. I think that's part of where the term came from calling someone a spaz. I love his stuff though he is so bluesy and soulful.
My dad said Joe Cocker said he was the best cover singer around . I think you are so beautiful might have been his and Jennifer warnes song . Joe does a great job with the Beatles songs too .
There was nothing like Joe Cocker before him, and there will never be anything like him again. He was absolutely one of a kind. God broke that mold when he made Joe.
First off, congratulations to you and your wife for your newborn! Joe Cocker was just the best. The reference to Ray Charles is appropriate. Two soulful souls.
It seems so obvious to express yourself exactly that way when you're in that place. 😊❤ I saw Joe touring this in the mid-70s; he still put everything into his performance, and left a lot onstage, including a puddle of vomit behind the drum riser, unless they had a bucket stashed back there. Chickenskin ... Goosebumps kicking in immediatly. I see hin 5meter in front of me singing live in Berlin Waldbühne beautiful colored set up, one of the best live performances I experienced and will never forget. Joe is pure soul and I think he is singing with the angels now, and all of them are impressed by this beauty The best thing of all, the concert was published (I even can see me in the crowd), so whenever I want to have a good mood, I just need to start an old fashioned thing called DVD to have a good time. It was the across from midnight tour. RIP Joe
Joe was one my favourite rock singers growing up. He sung this song from his soul. I wish I could go back & relive all the fantastic singer/songwriters from the 60s, 70s & part of the 80s. They sure don't make them today as they did back then. ROCK
Amazing performer who just took over the room . Saw him in a small club in the early 80s and we were enrapt attention, just a great night. Coincidentally we saw Ray Charles & The Rayettes the same club same summer, also a impeccable performance ☮️
The radio version is so good, he let's out a little cry at the end. You can't help get teary-eyed yourself. I do believe he feels every word he sings. You should play Up where we belong W/Jennifer Warens it's a beautiful ballad and was in the soundtrack of the movie An officer and a gentleman.

You hit the nail on the head with your reaction. Joe Cocker is a classic like so many blues singers before. I picked up some old Cocker cd's at a local thrift store and it brought back memories of when he was in his prime. After Woodstock, which was yesterday he was an instant star. You know they've sung it or performed it thousands of times yet each time they do it feels fresh. Most modern performers try to revive it but somehow there is something missing, On occasion you will get a child prodigy who'll blow you away with their 'old soul' beyond their years and you'll wonder if reincarnation is real. If you don't educate your kids in subtle way they'll miss out. How long have songs like "You Are My Sunshine", "Man of Constant Sorrows", "Amazing Grace" and going back to Louie, "It's a Wonderful World" been around? Armstrong played a great horn but his voice had Cocker's raspiness. Somehow it all fit. When Cocker did the Beatles song "A Little Help From My Friends" they told him it was his song now! The way he performs it's like he is giving a gift to the world, no ego here.
Oh honey, we didn’t love Joe for his looks or his moves ,, we loved his soul. Great reaction and thank you
You said it all 😊👍
Yup!👍
Great comment! Agreed

I think Joe is SEXY AF!!

Ray Charles was first noticed in 1947 for his music but the 50s is when he took off with continued hits.
I saw that show in Cleveland, it was amazing!
Epic!
I saw that show in Denver. It was amazing.
WOW, what a story. I'd love to have seen Tina Turner. Just watchin' her videos about launches my ass over our roof.
When Joe performs, you can't help but believe every single word he sings.
He put his heart and soul into all his songs. That's what we loved him for. He's now singing to God. RIP Mr. Cocker.
He died when?
@@BruceClemoDecember 22, 2014 (age 70). RIP Joe 🙏❤️💐
like Janis he gave everything of himself into this song ( and others too) not regarding outfit, face expressions or anything. Thats pure music!
"Up Where We Belong" is another banger from him.
Yes!! I forgot about that one!
Yes! Good suggestion. I was hearing the horns in You Can Leave Your Hat On ringing in my ears .
Beautiful song from officer and a gentleman l❤❤❤❤ it. Ty for sharing this video 💕💕💕

He has a duet with Jennifer Warnes I believe called "Love Lift us up where we belong". It is also live and it is also amazing
this was my song for my love, she passed this February and I cannot hear this without seeing her face, smile, it rips my heart out

God bless you man. It is so much better on the other side of the vale... don't worry about her, she's ok.
John Belushi's homage to Joe Cocker is worth the watch. Even better, John and Joe perform together on SNL. Peace, all 💕
I was about to say the same thing!
Me too, I saw that episode when I was in my teens, absolutely loved it. RIP to John Belushi and JC.

Definitely “You Can Leave Your Hat On” 🤭 His voice is epic! BTW Billy Preston played keyboard for the Beatles and later for Ringo’s band. ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
