Rare images have been captured of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's portrait hanging alongside those of his father and grandfather.
The South Korean government says this appears to be part of Kim's attempts to reinforce the cult of personality in the regime.
Our North Korean affairs correspondent Kim Jung-sil reports.
The portraits of three generations of leadership in North Korea hanging on the wall , have been spotted at a new school in Pyongyang during its opening ceremony.
North Korea's state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported this on Wednesday in its coverage of the event.
The portraits of the three leaders from the Kim family can also be seen hanging above the blackboards in the school's classrooms.
There were times when either Kim Jong-un's portrait was hung alone, or those of his father and grandfather were, but this is one of the rare moments when all three were hanging side-by-side.
Experts said the motive behind the display could have something to do with Kim's leadership recently facing difficulty due to him going against his predecessors' doctrine, which might have confused the population.
"I think it came as a big burden when he made a statement that said that in North Korea's policy, there's not going to be any unification because you try to erase the footprints of the predecessors --his grandfather and father."
Professor Kim added there could be a clear statement behind the hanging of the portraits together.
"He wants to portray in this message that it's not like he's going to eliminate footprints, heritages, of his predecessors, rather he cherishes the accomplishments, achievements that his predecessors made."
South Korea's Ministry of Unification said it appears that Kim Jong-un is trying to show off his status and his recent revolutionary ideas, saying it was closely monitoring this rare occasion.

I believe maybe there is some Americans that will believe that, just like there is some that believe Biden or trump, but most people are started to not believe any news agency that is connected to biased opinions like the pro Palestine Americans won't believe any news agency that supports Israel
Even before I sent most of my time in Thailand I was already embarrassed of my government and before I turned 19 I was really pro USA and was going to join the air Force, but until we completely overhaul the government, I won't trust anything even if it's from the East or west I do research in different places before making a opinion and even then I'm still open to other opinions

Unfortunately, no.
Both sides seem to know that ship sailed some time ago in reality. Nice to talk about it but, could never have worked. Completely different systems and societies. South is used to mass consumerism crazy competition for jobs/societal acceptance vs trying not to starve. Interesting that in spite of everything, South Korea has the highest suicide rate of any country I believe so maybe not everything that glitters is gold 😉
