    Lovely example of the S1, we owned a 1970 4.2 S2 2+2 for many years, a very easy car to enjoy and live with, only problem was self control and I got caught speeding many times in the years between 1978 and 1993.
    You can feel privileged to be driving a genuine piece of motoring history.

    I thought last hand drive cars weren’t allowed in Australia, I noticed this as well on the BMW . Love to see older cars in great condition .

    Well done, stunning car and like your attitude 'it isn't a prom queen', use it and enjoy it, like these cars should be! Not sitting under a cover waiting for the next polish.

    Fantastic car. An E Type would always have a place in my dream car garage. You car is perfect as has the 3.8 engine which I prefer to the 4.2 but the much better 4.2 gearbox.

    er, they all had 3 wipers. Perhaps you're referring to the 2+2 with its taller windscreen. Great car, made better with extra poke! Those original 5inch rims were ridiculous, I put 6.5 front, 6 inch rear on mine...all triple laced...

    As ever, a beautiful S1 Etype! I appreciate the practical aspect of the build, but would have preferred the wood wheel personally. Where did you do it in Dubai? Especially working on those carbs.

    • @autoaddict7481
      @autoaddict7481  6 років тому

      I bought the engine pretty much complete in the UK. Most other parts from. SNG Barratt in the uk. Over here I used one garage for the interior (now closed) and for mechanics and engine work there is a good British chap now at Eras Classics on Dubai, he is good. Have you got one here then? The wheel. Is wood underneath, but if you live over here you will know how hot the wheel gets if it's wood in the sun, so having alcantara not only feels better, it's cooler too.

    Nice work and sensible upgrades...I have S1 FHC "63 and have been thinking to buy a Clayton Classics' A/C...what was your experience to install it on yours? Lot of work or pretty straightforward task?

      Hi mate, I don't know the garage did it. Depends where you locate the condenser I suppose. It is pretty good though, although I do think 3.5k is very expensive for an AC system, compared to the cheaper 400 quid one they have.

    I love the black on black. Can you give me a ball park on how much your total cost to resto-mod this car including purchasing the car? I want to buy a Type E and some of these prices are like 😟😳. Some cars have rust some cars are spotless.

    Hi AutoAddict. Can you tell me what wheels exactly you got? Is it MWS wheels? If so, the 5.5"x15" or the 6"x15" competition wire wheels? And are your rear-wheelarches on the top pushed in a little bit in order to make way to the tyres that are further out now? I'd appreciate your feedback soon since I am considering changing to the same wheels (but with AVON 205 tyres) since I like the look of yours a lot!

      @@autoaddict7481 Hi there. This all helps me a lot. Maybe the arches have been touched before? If not, this would be great if you don't need to push the metal inwards/upwards at the very top of the wheelarch to make space for the tyre.

    Nice car but you shouldn't Slag off people for there alterations. I'm not keen on resto mods. Why not just buy a different car when you're not happy with the brakes, power output, gearbox, interior and so on. Worked on a couple of these over the years and the have a specific feel but handled very well for the period unlike ferrari of that era. And that to me is the e type appeal with the torsion bar feel and the brakes weren't bad. Once you change everything about a car it becomes a different car.

    • @GreevyLukeMc
      @GreevyLukeMc 2 роки тому

      I suppose ultimately it depends what you want to use the car for. I wanted the original look but not being sat by the side of the road with overheating issues and going straight on when I get to a corner. I did in fact put back in the upgraded torsion bar suspension later on and it handled very well. Ultimately its each to their own hey, I dont like restomods with wide tyres and massive cosmetic changes, which is why I kept the exterior original. And as to engine upgrades, these are simply improving the internals for reliability you know. Sold it a month ago funnily enough and someone is using for track day club meets so am sure they will have many years of enjoyment hey. If we all liked the same cars it would be a bit boring hey!

    • @autoaddict7481
      @autoaddict7481  4 роки тому +3

      I suppose its each to their own but ruined is rather strong. The Engine, Gearbox, all running gear is original, just race spec, basically what racing jags run. The body is original. I wouldn't consider covering a steering wheel in alcantara (wood underneath) ruining, I consider it sensible Mods as I live in a country which has up to 40 degrees temp, so a wood wheel would get boiling hot and is impractical, they also have no grip. And the diamond stiching in the back is put simply, becuase I like driving my cars so I focus on the important things. Dropping the best part of 6k GBP on original runners and luggage racks in the back is in my opinion a waste and quite frankly a pisstake. I am Not looking for a prom queen, I love driving. Anyway, each to their own.
