Jaguar E Type Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe Owners Review / Test
Переглядів 14 тис.6 років тому
Here is a shirt video of my restored Jaguar E Type Series 1 (1962) with 3.8 Litre Straight Six. A few changes to the original with around 300BHP as a pose to the original 220BHP. I can post the detailed spec if anyone interested. Have sports exhaust, air con, 123 Ignition system, Wilwood Calipers. Few resto mods to the interior with Alcantara. Pretty much done aside from a nice poliah and touch...

Just some thoughts on the car having had it for a few months. Will do a more detailed review soon. #bmwm6 #competionpack #bmwm6 #review #puremetalsilver
Most guys would be far more likely to drive these as intended - as opposed to the way that most owners turn their Singers into garage statues. Great balance between enhancement, practicality, and cost.
Nice! I had a ‘77 911S Targa that I put a 3.0L in . Your car is gorgeous though I’m not a fan of the stripes or through the hood fuel filler.
After it's finnish will they put a good rust preventative behind the pannels and Secondly don't take it out in the wet😅
@@johnnyboy1586 yes exactly, ans drain holes in the rear quarters as they weren't there from standard.
🤤🤤🤤 Send me bank details now 😂 P.s - You still got the dominator?
@@MrMJB yes mate 👍
Amazing mate great job
What a great video, Thank you! I’ve just graduated university recently and always wanted to own one, do you know where I should look around for one? Also any tips for when I do start hunting for one? Would appreciate your feedback. Very entertaining video, looking forward to more!
Start with respected classic BMW dealers. In the UK places like Munich Legends, and same anywhere else. If you don't know which are respected join the BMw E9 clubs on Facebook and ask in the chat. Get one restored unless you want to spend triple on the car . Basically, buy a decent one off the bat. And if you find one yourself absolutely have a BMW specialist check it.
Great advice, thanks for getting back to me! Love your content, keep it up!
Beautiful car!!! Great video.. thanks for sharing
who is Rick??
@@robertsvareid1451 guy who owns and runs Retroworks
I had to sell my one of these because it was such a money pit - it looked beautiful though and I got an astronomical amount of money for it, so it was a good decision for me at the time. Good luck with it.
@dj_efk yeah people don't realise the extortionate costs involved. Better off buying one restored
I never heard the price?
I mention it, put simply if you supply the 993 to them it's about 85 to 100k GBP for them to convert everything
Very nicely done. I would like to know the brand of wheel you used. Thx
@@jimphillips3669 Fuchs wheels 17"X 11" and 17" X 9" cheers
Also check The glove compartment for leakage from windshield also runs down and does damage
Gorgeous build! One question though. was it necessary to have the fuel cap at the same location that Singer puts theirs? It's my least favorite feature of the Singer because it's very impractical when it comes to filling up the car. I mean it looks cool and intriguing but still very impractical.
I had a 2800 CS
Honest video. Thank you 👍🏻
Cool car for a nice cool guy.. Thank's for a really nice view and also your humbleness broo.. Ton'z of respec..sallute...
nice, can Norton, or anyone else, introduce a few more ponies? I am tempted to get one of these but weary about the 78-bph from the push rod engine, and being stuck with just 5-gears of course.
I too owned a 1973 Model. Worst decision ever made was to sell her. Regrets... regrets .
What were your main concern?
You couldn’t have done spot repairs? I would have never did a respray on that car looking that good.
I could have left it but was offered a deal on the paint...they eat from the inside out and the sills were also weak at the Jack points. So many of them look good but inside they need work you know. Only way to do it is do it all properly u know...or it comes back
@@autoaddict7481 I’m looking at a 71 Mercedes 250c that has a dozen or more rust spots and rusted seals. Does not, run low mileage and everything is there. Wish it was the shape of your BMW.
I’m from the uk 🇬🇧 This is bloody beautiful I love it ❤👌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The Carbon fibre 11,000PRM Tulhill 911 takes some beating 🙂
Yes indeed, they are quality builds.
Lovely. Very lovely piece of art!
Wondreful car - am i the only one that finds all this burbling and cracking and farting to be super annoying, in todays exhaust dessign? sounds broken to me. Aside from that its nearly perfect. Well done.
Always sound better in real life man. More the speakers that are pony .
Hey I wouldnt turn it down, haha.. beautiful and impressive car.. For me though, flat 6 noises should be smooth and slick, leave the farting and burbling for firebreathing big V8 muscle, to my ears. Different umbrellas for different fellas thoguh ;)@@autoaddict7481
Glad someone does find the burbling and cracking annoying as well. 🙌🏻
Black was a good choice Stunning thing
What a stunning machine Never pays them too much attention but this has changed my opinion
Beautiful and very classy motor inside and out wheels aside. They look odd to me Great choice of cars I’d love a Tuscan
Great spec and honestly a very reasonable price. Enjoy 🎉
Retroworks did my 964 targa conversion. Excellent vakue for money. I bought the original car for £34k in 2020 just before prices went stupid and spent a further £51k on the conversion. So £85k on the road. Its only gone up in value since then.
Looks stunning. I was wondering how much these go for? Is that a TVR in your garage? It seems like you have also a nice Ferrari.
I mention that Matthew end of the video, 165 to 185k GBP now, more or less, that's if you want them to source the donor car for you. Yeah TVR Tuscan S Mk1 and a 550 Maranello. Love em.will do reviews on them shortly and Audi Quattro UR
Very nice spec. Gray exterior not too dark nor bright, offering good contrast against the wheels. Stripes are very subtle. Interior color and finish are perfect. I’m with you there that you don’t need the carbon body with the 700hp which drives up the price. Hope you and your family get to enjoy it for many years to come. Cheers from USA!
@mquiros cheers mate. Yeah the interior is one of my favorite things I have to say.
Great car, im in talks with Sportec in Switzerland but need to find the vehicle
Is it RHD or LHD?
Right.
I love Porsche but no car on the planet is worth anywhere near that much money as to singer.
Something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay, this chap had a 4.5 year waitlist, which speaks volumes.
@@autoaddict7481 I’ve heard that all my life. I’ve also heard a fool and his money are soon parted. Does that make him a fool? NO. But you can get an awesome Porsche for a whole lot less, and most of the good one are in the six figure range.
Beautiful car and spec! Thanks for sharing. Love the idea of a 993 based restomod. This one seems like a great build and finish - I'm also quite OCD but like the right balance of quality, fine detail and value for money. I'd be interested to know your thoughts, in comparison to similar 993 based models, such as the Kaege Retro, Tuthill SCRS, or Rennsport.
Great car and nice review. Would only be improved by properly pronouncing Porsche and Fuchs. Would add credibility IMO.
Great use of the 993!
That orange Tuscan in the background looked amazing!
Yeah man, will do a review on that in the coming weeks.
Oh wow, I really look forward to that! I have a couple of 911’s, but these days I only have eyes for a Tuscan, preferably a mk1 with a Powers 4.5 straight 6 motor. I’ve subscribed so I don’t miss the future video!
@user-qn6yt3zx3w yeah mine is a Mk1 Tuscan S, which runs a 4.0 litre of course. New Engine, New paint and new Shocks and underside complete from Powers TVR. Cracking cars, proper. More feel than a GT3 in terms of feeling the road, but of course not as refined.
@@autoaddict7481 interesting. I run a 4.5 Cerb along with a manual 991.2 GT3. They’re completely different in every way, but the Cerb is sometimes the more special feeling car. There are moments when the TVR feels almost as fast, but really there’s no comparison in time taken to get from A to B.
Beautiful csr😊
Thanks a lot 😊
Very nicely done. It's worth every penny compared to Singer and Gunther work Porsche.
Great vid, bad AM type audio. Gorgeous car. Congrats.
Yeah sorry, not sure what happened , that is the mic the firm recommended. First video, so others will sort . More to come...Next up Audi Quattro, then 550 Maranello then TVR Tuscan and BMW E9 CSL
Pretty good video, but the microphone quality is terrible, couldn't listen to this with headphones on for longer than two minutes
Yeah sorry about that. My very first video , will sort for future ones. Not sure why it happened, was the mic the firm recommended .
Just make sure its exactly the car you want and plan to keep. Other than Singer's which might appreciate, the majority of restomoded cars typically take a significant hit as it's no longer factory original, unauthorised/untested mechanical changes with unproven long-term reliability. Requires support from a specialist (Porsche main dealers won't touch it), who in turn understand the mods and parts fitted and how to fix them when they break. Bespoke appearance can divide opinion so reducing your total available market when it comes time to sell. If you can live the risks it's a lovely thing to own and this one is certainly a head turner.
Completely agree. But as always , as and when the time comes to sell you only need one buyer. But yes, you do need specialists...which most use on older cars anyway. I think going for a spec which has a wider appeal is always a good way to go, for example, I wouldn't spec viper green personally, a wider appeal colour with comfort interior is I think more appealing to the masses than a stripped out funky colour. However I do think there is a much larger market for 2nd tier providers than the one for singers, especially as these cars get longer in the tooth ans need work. Bespoke cars of all types are certainly on the rise and porche fill a massive percentage as enthusiasts and people who know sod all about cars go for porsche. LOL
No - disagree. Times have changed. Well build restomods hold their value very well. That old song about Porsche needs to be original isn’t going on anymore ….
lovely car! thanks for sharing
dare I ask what this cost in total?
In the summary at the end of the vid
Any issue with DVLA or the police having a 1996 car on black & silver plates historical plate? I got my private plate taken of me for displaying black & silver plate on my 997s.
The car was in the UK before ans wasn't on then for long, then bought to Oz.
❤ the car. What about exporting an Australian delivered 993 to be modified by Retroworks in UK? That way there may be less expense on import duties??
Bettwe off just buying one in the UK, but yes, you could export ans then have the work done if you already have the car. Way cheaper than doing it in Australia for sure.
@@autoaddict7481 Thanks for the advice.😀
@@PaediatricDentistry Depending on the spec of you car and knowing the values here in Oz of 993's it could be a good move to sell yours for a pretty penny, especially if its Oz delivered which buyers just go mental here for. And then use the money to buy a half decent 993 in the UK (Which tends to be cheaper than Oz). Then you will have some money in your back pocket to help cover the build...and you would also save on shipping back and forth. (Which could take 2-3 months. Just a thought I had post your comment.
