Resurrection of Christ is the Ultimate. I am Eastern Right, the Resurrection is the highest of our church. We are the beginning of a Christianity. Without the Resurrection of Christ we would be doomed. Very holy time for us. You Easter is this Sunday. Ours is in May. We wait until after the Jewish Passover. Research a lot to learn about Christ as he was GOD and came down as a man.

I used to tailor my words to non-christians bc in my mind they weren't there yet. Totally inaffectice. My dad just spoke the gospel with zero buffer. He lead so many to Christ. My lesson learned: Scripure has the power to convict. Its not a sales pitch. Its Gods words not our, just share it.

I got away from Furtick years ago. The Ressurection is the whole tenant on which the Christian faith is based.
Without the resurrection, Christs death is useless.

The problem with the “seeker-sensitive” approach is that it tries to substitute the work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus told us to share the good news of the gospel, which is the death and resurrection of Christ. But the Holy Spirit is the one who draws people to Jesus. When we share the truth of the gospel, the Holy Spirit comes and convicts and draws people to Christ. We must never forget that we don’t save anyone. This is the work of the Holy Spirit, who always connects people to God through Jesus Christ.
Furtick should be avoided at all costs. He has so many wrong teachings and constantly recommends false teachers.

The apostle Paul said " I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is power of God for salvation to everyone who believes" Romans 1:16. The gospel of Jesus Christ either attracts or repels people. There is no middle ground.
Most Churches want motivational speakers instead of true pastors. Christianity in America is a mile wide but an inch deep; it is surface level only with no depth.

I think we’re confusing marketing vs what they actually preach. As someone who is not a current member but has previously attended Elevation for a year or two and was just there for the Good Friday service, I can assure you they preach the cross and the resurrection clearly without hesitation or compromise.
Different parts of the body have different functions and Elevation seeks primarily to reach the lost. It doesn’t surprise me that their marketing tactics reflect that. What does surprise me is how quickly people are to judge without actually experiencing the church for themselves in person for more than one or two services.

You don't go out of your way to remove key parts of what the gospel actually is in a bid to make people feel comfortable! That's complete nonsense and disrespectful to what Christ did. The gospel is the gospel. Preach it the way it is. You're not in anyway wiser than God. It's not your job to convince the souls of people. Don't ever attempt to take the role of God and the Holy Spirit. Your job is to preach the gospel and follow up, it's the job of the Holy Spirit to convince and convict. Except you're someone who's not actually saved and are not working uprightly in the Spirit, else why would you be so full of yourself that you now think it's your job to censor the gospel in a bid to increase the headcount in the church?
Isn't the church supposed to be of God? Isn't the church supposed to be founded on the gospel? If so, why would you be so worried about bringing new members to the extent that you're willing to censor God's word just so that those people can feel comfortable. So what happens next, when they get to the church? For how long do you keep censoring the gospel so that people can be comfortable? How do you even call yourself a church of God and spit on work of Christ in this manner?

OK. I attend Elevation Church, and have been a musician on their platform for 3 years. This lady is an employee discussing how we create marketing materials to bring people that are far from God to our Easter service. She is not the pastor! She does not preach the message! Pastor Stephen preaches the message and he preaches on the resurrection, the blood of Jesus, And Calvary! I am also in sales and I love the PBD podcast! This marketing is for door swings. Just like running a promotion to get people in the door, the same rules apply. The more people we have in our services, the more people, that hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. All of the false teacher comments are coming from people that have either watched videos of small exerts taken out of context, or are misinformed.

What would be triggering about "Calvary" to someone not already familiar with Christianity? They wouldn't even know what it meant to be triggered by it.

This just baffles me how they have the boldness to say this things publicly. Our focus remains to draw people to God and not drawing people to church.
This is what happens when people don’t truly pray for the people that are lost and somehow rely on creative ways to “save “ them. All we are to do is preach the gospel of Christ in all truth and the Lord does the conviction and transformation of the heart. Just pray for the unsaved and preach the true gospel and leave the rest to God.
The true measure of success in Christianity is about souls that are truly transformed and obedient to Christ not about the numbers. May God help us and enlighten our hearts to truly know him🙏

These terms are left out of *promotional* material. Invitations intended to reach people who never go to church. If an invite says “join us for easter”, then they show up and hear the gospel, that’s a win.

If I’m talking to someone who isn’t Christian and isn’t familiar with terms like “blood of Jesus” or “blessed and highly favored”, I would make an effort to communicate in a way that doesn’t change the message but in a way that a person who doesn’t read the Bible can understand the message. It’s lazy for us not to. This is what I believe she was saying. I see no problem. Don’t soften the impact of the Gospel, but talk to people in their “language”. Meet people, intellectually, where they currently are.

Coming out to fog machines doesn't dictate a church😂 the substance of the word and the way in which discipleship is practiced dictates a church. There's a ton of sound doctrine churches that happen to use a fog machine. By overemphasizing the importance asthetics, you're ironically doing the thing that you think you're criticizing but in the reverse. I think it's more important to say that every church community has a different style and aesthetic, but none of that matters compared to the actual ulsunstance of their theology and discipleship

It seems everyone is missing what she means. She isn't saying they do not use those terms as a church during sermons or once people are at the church. She's saying, why would I invite people to church with terms they do not understand and you don't have the ability to explain adequately in your social media marketing and other marketing channels. You have to use language they can understand to initially invite them. Once they come, yes, bring the "full message" because now you have the ideal time and setting to communicate it.
I didn't interpreted like that. I interpreted the same way as everyone else. I don't know. When talking about Jesus to people, I speak to them on a personal level. I don't "change" what the scripture says to accommodate who I'm speaking to. But I speak to them directly using scripture and whatever the Spirit puts in my heart at the time. If she mean it as you describe, it did not translate well to thousands/millions listening.

As a pastor, I see the long term effects of this well-intentioned but misguided strategy.
The Church has lost doctrines like eternal punishment, sin, wrath, Hell, etc. because they are offensive to those we are trying to reach.
If you drop them from your evangelistic strategies, you end up dropping them from your doctrine and preaching.

Growing up going to church, we know these phrases, they are common to us and we understand them. She said they were not putting those words on the invitation, thats understandable, as long as they are preaching the truth in their services.
Respectfully, I believe these churches prioritize attendance over spiritual growth by focusing more on filling seats than enriching hearts with the actual word of God. We must remain strong in our beliefs and identity. While everyone is welcome to attend, our convictions to appease a minority can’t be compromised.

I think this is true of most churches. Until there’s a church that exists freely online only and doesn’t accept tithing, there’s always some sort of incentive to have butts in the seats.

Well the headline was misleading. To avoid using the word "resurrection" on Easter is silly. But this church is only recommending people don't use the word "resurrection" *in their invitation* to non-church people to come to the easter service, maybe because it sounds like cliche Christian-ese language. That's different from avoiding the word entirely on Easter.

The clip didn't say they weren't preaching the resurrection, the cross etc. The clip was clear that in their marketing to those who are far away from God, they chose to not use language that would be a barrier or a hindrance to them coming to worship on Easter weekend. Jesus chose carefully how he spoke to different groups. My question is will they preach Jesus resurrected in their services helping those attending understand the saving hope of the Gospel in Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ never founded any church . When He speaks of His church meaning all the believers that are His . The Catholics claim that Jesus founded their church (religion). We call going to a church building to meet other believers and hear a pastors sermon . I left the church building years ago , because the Holy Spirit is not welcome in most so called Christian Churches today . Without the Holy Spirit there is no power , no deep revelation and the people are left in the cold , its just a social club .

I don’t follow Elevation church very closely or what they teach, but obviously in this clip they’re talking about the messaging they use to get people in the door.
It doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t preach Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection in their Easter service.
Do you expect their Easter invitations to contain a full presentation of the gospel? Because that’s what you sound like.

I just want to say that I watched their Easter Sunday sermon and they mentioned "Resurrection" at least 5 times and one of their songs was about "the blood."
We got a new senior pastor who a few years ago instructed staff not to say the phrase “He is Risen” on Easter Sunday because it was insider language…. It was pretty shocking!

I just watched his message used Resurrection and was a great message. I don't know that this message was pre approved. I was a drug addict sinner and started watching him, and I am drug free and serving the Lord. Listen to the message. I loved his Easter message.

Love you guys and am also a member at elevation. It's painfully clear none of you have ever listened to an elevation sermon. They are talking about invitations as their mission is to bring people to christ who are far from God. That'd their entire approach. I'm church, Pastor Furtick does not water down the Bible.

You guys are taking this completely the wrong way. They literally have a worship songs with the titles of Resurrecting, Welcome Resurrection, and Raised to Life. He preaches from the Bible unapologetically. They don’t get triggered by the words from the Bible. They just eliminate “insider language” which are uncommonly used words that outsiders wouldn’t understand. This type of language creates a barrier. Those words don’t have to be used to communicate the same concepts.
The Bible says to be wise as serpents and gentle as doves. We need to use certain language to get outsiders to come to church. Then when they’re there, we can introduce them to our language and concepts. Just showing up can turn an outsider into an insider which makes them more comfortable adopting the language and customs.
This is the same in selling life insurance. If we are selling life insurance to someone with no exposure to it, we wouldn’t start using words like Monthly Premiums, living benefits, term, universal, or whole life. We would switch to more familiar terms like monthly payment or we explain the jargon, make sure they understand, and then we’d use it.
I don’t go to Elevation and I’m not even part of the same denomination. My degree is in Bible Translation and missiology. I spent the majority of my time in college analyzing discourse like this. Christians in America would do well to see how much insider language we use in our discourse. Using other words is not being triggered by the Bible.
I just got the Elevation church-wide reminder of Easter service. This is how it opens: "Easter is tomorrow and we can't wait to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus with you."

Hey John from Patmos. Elevation IS the ones who made that statement about NOT mentioning Resurrection, blood of Christ, etc. Not us outsiders. The church hierarchy stated it. IF it wasn't true, someone that went on a social media platform should be fired, and prayed for. I wasn't there to here the Easter selection of songs they chose to sing, and the actual sermon, but I can download it from their main campus website to watch it. God, Jesus, & The Holy Spirit isn't a feeling. It is a complete self connection to Him, praying, losing your life, to living in Him who restoreth my soul, is with me, beside me, in front & behind me. God, sent His Son Jesus down to Satan's lair Earth, and Preached, Proved miracles, was condemned by His own people, tortured, whipped, thrashed, bleeding, weak from loss of fluids, no food, and carrying a heavy wood cross used to embarrass Him. Hung on a cross, dying, 3 days later rising as prophecy in the OLD Testament foretold. All of it needs to be relative in the pastors speech & church music.

This clip is taken out of context, which is the first deliberate sin. And the actual invitation, furthermore, had the word resurrection in it, which should have brought these content creators to apologize.
