Rody's singing makes me not give a single fuck that he's barely screaming. What a fantastic singer.
That vocal range is ridiculous
I think people are just too dumb to realize how GOOD these guys are....
It’s crossed my mind.
I was one of those people for a while
I've been saying that since like 2006
I feel like they play what they play for other musicians half the time just to say get better cause your not as good as us yet
Protest the hero deserves more crowd.
Juan Francisco López Rojas more talent less crowd. Just how it works
@@huntermorgan98 so dream theater isn't talented? They would have a crowd all the way to the back of this festival, their music is not appealing to a larger audience that's why, I gots nothing to do with talent it's a matter of if the people actually like it or not.
@@Heath-vz7lc if Dream Theatre came to Eastern Canada, they'd have small crowds
Heath2000 shut up dummy
It's Spain, not exactly the metal cradle of Europe. I for one was pleasantly surprised to see a circle pit, it's my favourite
Sound guy did Protest dirty
faxxxx
@@johnathanwilson1363 "board mix, don't touch it."
It's a live feed, nothing is mixed, it's probably straight from the console so the mix is made for a festival setup not a DVD recording setup
@@FlipperWolf its just all bass and vocals lol atleast they both preformed well
Protest The Hero are amazing musicians. Very technical music, but also very melodical.
one of the best bands ever
yer darn tootin!
Kezia Naomi def agree with you. protest is the fuckin shit
@Kezia Naomi If that is your real name it is very appropriate for a PTH fan.
i wish it were haha
Tom
a metal vocalist that hits the notes live? rare these days!
Totaly agree...
I mean, he can hit them, but very poor execution :/
maybe u just know 2 metal bands in a row :P
Yeah. Some are never as good live as in studio, but that guy is so good live. Devin Townsend is also an amazingly good singer live. I saw him as one of the opening acts for Avatar.
No its not lol. We live in an age where performers cant do shit like that without it going viral the next day. Niggas just love saying shit like this to accentuate how much they love someone they love.
the dude warmed up with bloodmeat and seqoia throne XD what a vocal god
also maybe need to get the hard stuff out of the way first... before the voice is fried. That's what i'd do with tough material. Also those are like their hits. But he is definitely a great vocalist no argue there.
The mix in this is awful but it's a great performance.
Yeah, I knew it wasn´t just me.
us Canadians prefer it raw as f--k
its to hard to put a live experience in a video. to me this sounds like ass but i bet if you were there it was awesome.
I thought it was bad and then I heard the vocals. WHY ARE THEY SO LOUDD WHO DID THIS
Probably a direct to board recording, that is why it sounds so dry. I'm sure it was more wet if you were in the crowd listening to the mains.
Estuvo genial el concierto , y los vídeos salieron súper bien!Enhorabuena
Brisa Canedo
Put the thumb away poser
I fucking love how Rody just does not give two fucks about anything. He just goes and sing however he wants and nails every single time
39:23 - All these years later, and Rody is still singing "vagina rides again" live.
These men are focused on playing everything right, i love it.
Rody may be somewhat inconsistent in vocal performance, especially when comparing it to the record, but it's still super enjoyable and I love his voice. Also the notes he can hit overshadow the notes he can't, for sure.
He’s just not as good as he used to be :(
Unreal how good these guys are! Great post.
90% of modern metal vocalists need to take notes on this performance. a vocalist actually hitting his notes. sizzle sizzle
Ryan GERMANHEAD
I agree
One of the few real vocalists in metal. The rest is just generic vocal chord grating. That's what PTH's third string singer does.
At 1:55 his vocals are junk. Dude did not warm up no way. Bummer he's way better than this
@@jerryhill8281 I'd imagine it's hard to strike a balance between warming up and wearing yourself out. If you've followed PTH at all recently, you'd of heard that Rody is having vocal stamina problems. With how hard he pushes himself to hit some of those soaring highs it's understandable he'd want to do the best he can to preserve his voice :P. Now, if that comes at the expense of your performance early on, I can see a reason to not be satisfied. At least he worked it out and turned it into an amazing performance!
@@Frandicap Very true my man
Protest The Hero are awesome band and musicians. They are very progressive in nature and make creative music. I hope their next album will be masterpiece.
Being that theyre from Canada this is as deep as his voice gets and everytime he swears while hes singing he apologizes right after every swear word.
would you prefer a Canadian growl and tell you to f--k off? because that can be arranged.
obviously never heard cursed or a ton of other canadian bands...
billy talent, alexisonfire
great video. thanks for sharing
love every single one of them.
marduv Same
Damn, did not expect them to sound so good live
amazeing! !! the music is on point! yo amó protest the hero ♡
25:12
So crisp and clean AND live how is it even possible??
lol @17:59, Luke hits a nasty harmonic and Tim be mirin
This is so beautiful
Lol the intro to bloodmeat..
Yeah..
Oh nice you saw the video too?
29:30 Luke kicks Tim in the crotch LOL
Best Rody's live performance ever....👍👍👍👍👍👍😎
I m so happy I see them live...protest are something special...few can I understand what they are doing and their music
Wow, amazing performance
This makes me so excited for the concert in February
thiscuzimstupid 2018?
Holy shit Rody hit the gym??
I know right!?!? Bruh he's swol af in this video
Apesar da mixagem aqui não ser das melhores,a técnica e originalidade desses caras preenche qualquer lacuna de erros... banda fantástica ❤
Vida longa ao Protest the Hero! Vida longa ao Rody Walker!
6:27 When mom asks you if you want to do Chuck E. Cheese's for your birthday
so glad rody recovered that voice from 2008 when fortress was released!
Jorge VP I'm a little sad he doesn't like screaming as much as he used to. Some of those older songs with the highs were really weak, but that singing more than made up for it.
He always had a great singing voice. His screams have gone to shit though. But if his screams sucking is what it means so he keeps that great singing voice then I'm down.
Brian McCarthy his screams in no stars over Bethlehem were badass though.
They're so f****** awesome!!!
Seeing them in October. Ready to get my dancing shoes on.
Awesome!!! Much better than a lot of bands out there.
he's got such a great controlled vibrato to his voice, and the instruments are so tight. Gotta catch a live show...
I caught them live during a UK tour with Erra in support. It was as phenomenal as it sounds
@@widexawake_ fuck me sideways erra is my top fav metalcore band. wtf dude that would be a dream show. hats off man thats a memory for sure!
@@aunderiskerensky2304 I've got tickets for Erra in March and the lineup is just as good. Silent Planet, Invent/Animate, and Sentinels. I think the most stacked bill I've seen was BMTH with The Devil Wears Prada, Architects, and Parkway Drive in support. I've been pretty lucky with tour lineups haha
@@widexawake_ yes you have! I unfortunately live in North Dakota so I have to plan my concerts a good bit in advance and road trip.
Am I the only one that noticed on Nautical, Choadie said "I'll stay home and masterbate" instead of "Of statehood and mastery"? I almost spat my drink out...
Lol me too! I can't beleive they still do that line after all this time! Best band
Tim has never sang so well!!!
Rody is fantastic!
this is one of those bands that " I Dont Know why I like It? but I like it A Lot!!!!
I'm so happy he did that ougghhhhhhhhhhhhhh in Bloodmeat
Wow saw them by accident on UA-cam and they are an amazing band
valla, hace mucho no escuchaba algo tan original
35:15 is amazing
that beer burp at 34:02....Rody is my god
damn, he never lose his voice
Much Badassness
pleasepleaseplease come japan!!!!!!
They're incredible but those screeches are fucking hilarious
Tight performance but damn I miss Arif :'( the basslines were way different, damn
This guy is still excellent too though
this is my first time watching this band...did not expect that YEY COMOUN XD
Wow Rody absolutely crushed Limb From Limb.
i fucking love this band
yaaaay
Yellow teeth 32:58 que ao vivo cara. Meu Deus do céu, que banda!
Foda mesmo ;)
Era pra ser Oficial essa banda é sensacional cara, pqp
Very good performance. I wish I could hear the guitars tho.
I've never heard rody sound so good
Wow.... Wow....
snare sounds like SHHHIIIITTTT but they are so tight XD
i was looking down in the comments to see if anyone took notice
You know you can put a microphone on the snare drum, right? Sometimes two.
16:50 Musician Tendonitis be like...
When did pre-show vocal warmups become the basis for songwriting?
Rody reminds me of a modern day PC Principal.
he best be defending the rights of marginalized minorities
can not unsee
modern day? PTH was around before PC Principal ever came about
just need some oakleys lol
Amazing vocalist and band. Opening tracks were a bit rough, Rody was all over the shop and clearly not warmed up enough but was pretty incredible for the rest of the set.
He's gotta ditch those ridiculous high pitch cartoon screams, his growls on the other hand were sounding the best I've heard them here.
I feel like 90% of the crowd don’t know who these guys are
they've really cleaned up their live performance
where is the guitars!?!?!
El cantante canta como la cantante de no doubt, exelente banda.
Dissapointing that Luke or Tim didn't shred face during the keyboard solo part of Limb From Limb
vais a subir el directo de The Offspring?
12:58 was definitly the best timing for a wall of death
en muchas partes apenas se escucha lo que canta el tio este, deben mejorar la calidad del sonido
Which is the name of the orchestral song in the beginning?
Subiréis el concierto de The Offspring??!?
I've never heard this band play before but the first thing that popped into my mind was coheed and Cambria.
That's because you arent smart
@@wilfordgrimley4339 I didn't say I didn't like them..
@@mwg911hk no one said you didn't lol.
13:16 lol imagine his happiness to see people moshing and enjoying themselves to their music
Cool!!! These guys should've been playing at around 21:00.... it'd would have been better for both, audience & band...
Singer is hilarious
Tight
The intro before Bloodmeat! Name, please!!!!!
What people fail to realize is that's just Bruce Dickinsons left testicle that grew into a human in a lab to make a pact with a lesser deity to make this man a legend.
Bautista on drums!
Those guys are surreal. This must be so hard to sing, and the lead guitar... damned !
Yellow teeth was insane!
25:12 Luke sounds like Zach de la Rocha there!
Как они умудряются друг в друга попадать? Как они запоминают такие сложные ритмы?
that intro music tho. Saw them in Melbourne, they played the X Files theme for the intro and Rody was wearing an X files shirt, best show ever. As always Melb went. OFF. the pit was intense and I was in the heart of it for the whole damn show. Best band in existence.
This intro music is from the Mask, right?
I know your comment is 5 years old but, 🎣
I could hear the engineer making mix changes frantically... brings back memories lol 🥴
where's his screams?)
Tenéis el show de Eskimo Callboy?
I'm from Canada and I say soree att. 😁
Rody's high notes sound a little off in this mix, especially the two first songs, but overall a pretty great show.
Nothing beats seeing them live though in a small venue.
I love how they start off with the song from the Mask when Cameron Diaz walks into the bank and Jim Carrey sees her for the first time lol
Thank you! had to scroll pretty far for this answer. It sounded so familiar, i became obsessed of its origins for about 2 minutes. lmao
