@@4th_Ace it was definitely inspired by those kinds of vanillaware games. I haven’t played them myself so this got me really interested in checking them out!
Great review! It's a game I haven't had the chance to try yet. Since you seem to be exploring NIS's catalog, I was curious if you plan to check out Labyrinth of Refrain and its sequel, Galleria. Both are dungeon-crawlers with some mechanics from Disgaea, with storylines that are nice to see unravel and interesting casts of characters. I'd say that they even serve as a gateway to Disgaea, as you can build an overpowered squad and enjoy watching those big funny numbers go way up. OSTs are 🔥
thank you so much! I’ve heard great things about the labyrinth games and already own both of them! I don’t know when I’ll get around to them but I definitely want to check them out at some point. DRPGs aren’t something I have much experience with so I’m expecting a bit of a shock and learning curve haha
I have rather fond memories of "Battle Princess of Arcadias". It was something I initially skipped out on, since it was digital only and I was very adamant about sticking to physical copies. Granted, I still am but I'm more than willing if it's clearly the only available option, especially after years. I ended up coming back to it, playing it for the first time only 3½ years ago. Got the platinum as well for whatever that's worth. I have somewhat similar thoughts. It's not particularly great but just a simply enjoyable time. Something you pop in to play for a couple sessions and leave feeling satisfied enough. But yeah, seems like a lot of games in this era for NIS have largely been forgotten. People mostly remember their PS2/PSP selection and you'll occasionally see their more modern PS4/PS5/Switch stuff mentioned, but there's this huge swath of their PS3/Vita history that just rarely, if actually never, gets brought up.
the more I explore NIS’ old catalog the more astounded I am by the variety and sheer amount of their output that just ended up totally under the radar. there’s definitely a lot I wanna check out!
Ok so.. i found this video in my home and honestly the game is neat it reminds me of muramasa thank you youtube algorithm for once something interesting hope this video go well for you we need new content creator with new content
The puppet animation makes it look "cheap" (and probably it is, I can't imagine this game having much of a budget to work with) but is charming to me ... the art style is great, equal parts storybooks for children and "Anime", is eyecatching in a way, not many other games have this kind of look. It felt kinda like a "budget Odin's sphere" in it's overall look and gameplay ... And I was actually on board with it and bought it on release. I don't regret it one bit, I enjoyed the game for what it was. I had a great time playing it to completion
It's too bad NIS spent 90% of it's attention on whoring out characters to gacha games for quick cash and probably paid off most of their programmers. Was a rabid NIS fan until around 2018.

@@4th_Ace Indeed! When I played Muramassa I remember me showing prints to all my friends. Tha art of that game was so pretty.

@@superhetoric I agree! The art of that game was something else. But this one is not bad, it is just way more simple.

Do you know if this was a localization issue? It wouldn't be the first time for Nis.
