  • The Volvo EX90 electric SUV is a 3 row fully electric vehicle that will replace the XC90 in the Volvo line up as they move toward an all electric line up by 2030.
    Recently in Toronto, Volvo invited journalists to do a walkaround of the EX90 electric along with a product specialist. I attended and shot this walkaround video of the Volvo EX90 which should give those interested in seeing the EX90 up close but cannot get to see one in person a good idea of what this new Volvo electric SUV is like.
    On the same day, I also shot a similar walkaround video featuring the new Volvo EX30, and it also can be seen on my @TheNovakReport UA-cam channel.

    It’s eye wateringly good looking. Definitely the one I’ll get once I switch from my T8 XC90.

    How will extreme cold affect range . Minus 40 C for examle in Winnipeg

      Range loss in winter has improved in EVs as new generation vehicles come out. Increased range also factors in.
      I can't speak to this model as it is new, but there is a vibrant EV community in Winnipeg, so I suggest you look for EV groups on social media to reach out and ask about their own experiences with a Winnipeg winter.

    Wow, first EX90 I've seen with CCS and not combo. I was afraid they still only had the two prototypes from months ago, but it looks like at one has come off the line in South Carolina.

    • @TheNovakReport
      @TheNovakReport  10 місяців тому

      This is still a prototype, but one built to be showcased in North America - thus CCS.

      what is CCS?

    • @TheNovakReport
      @TheNovakReport  8 місяців тому

      @nathannnathan85 CCS stands for Combined Charging System and is one of the North American DC Fast Charging standards. It is, however slowly on the way out as most automakers have made the decision to either switch to or become compatible with Tesla's North American Standard fast charging system. Look up CCS online for images or just see the charger inbthe video.

    The elephant in the room again. How hot is the cabin going to be with that glass roof when the sun is beating down on a hot day. Really need some reviews in summer and get first hand experience as I doubt any dealer will point it out.

      There are plenty of other models that have the same treatment. Toyota and Lexus have done this as have other OEMs. Never been a real problem, and I've driven a few of them.

      I can't answer a speculative question as it relates to how the EX90 with its panaoramic roof will manage in areas like yours since the model isn't for sale yet.
      But what I can say is that all automaker do extensive testing on new models in both extreme cold and heat prior to debut. I also know that the top is tinted and driving in heat would indeed be considered. They wouldn't design a vehicle for sale in the US that wasn't viable in parts of it.

      I was thinking the same thing! There needs to be a power shade for the sunroof! The entire roof is made of glass so I can only imagine how hot the cabinet is going to be in the summer. Not sure if this is going to be a deal breaker for me. But disappointing to say the least!

      I think the same thing, these interiors are horrible. Cost cutting and savings everywhere. That roof is simply stupid, try to live in a hot country and you'll know. No curtains for the rear doors, vent seats only for one fabric, and that horrible dashboard.

      @@raspas99 The Lexus NX and Honda CR V are smaller than the EX90 which will have 3 rows and seat 7. And prices for EVs aren't apples to apples when comparing to gas powered. The purchase price will be higher on an EV but the costs to operate are far lower. You need to do a full cost of ownership and operating to make a fair comparison between the 2 technologies.

    Such a shame that the sunroof can't be opened. Love the large sunroof of my XC90. This might be a dealbreaker for me. Love the rest of the car. The current trend of sealed glass roofs is awful.

    • @TheNovakReport
      @TheNovakReport  8 місяців тому

      Sealed moonriofs typically are larger in surface area to provide more openness, and this makes it unfeasible to open. An example of this was the Lincoln MKZ where the large moonroof pulled back, but then obstructed the rear view mirror as a result.

      Still dissappointing for anyone cross-shopping this an a Rivioan. The Rivian weighs more and can do 3 seconds to 60. Our other EV can do 60 in about 2.3s and as bonkers as that is, you get used to it pretty quickly. Wish the XC90 top tier trim was closer to 4 seconds like the EX30.
