Uhm.. Why do they feel bad towards william, he literally had no regret killing the kids, plus he is glitchtrap and he's still trying to kill gregory so he had no regrets. Did they fall for William's trap? Because there's lots of hints in the song that he had no regret.
1st. Its literally obvious, he was trying to manipulate somebody in the video to kill
2nd. "If I could rewind, I would never come back, to the place at the time.
3rd. "Why do they get to go and why do I have to stay?" he literally knew the reason so its confirmed he was trying to manipulate somebody

No they didn't also it wasn't a trap if it's already over with also he is a sociopath meaning somebody in his past made him this way to the point his mind litterly the structure of the brain was changed but also not only that but the very chemistry of it. And add more things that happened and there you go. With the right conditions you get somebody like willam born with sociopathy. He felt sympathy in the book and even if he didn't so what?
