You are not alone. I have a TT350S which I use with a Sony ZV-1, and I'd love a small transmitter. The ZV-1 already has a 2.4 GHz radio built in for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. You can get a wireless shutter release for the ZV-1, so there's no reason that, with appropriate firmware on the camera and flash, the existing radios in the equipment could not work with each other, so no additional hardware would be required.
Direct flash is wonderful if you’re subtle with it. I love using direct flash outdoor to fill in the shadows. Dial it down -1.5 flash exposure and you will barely know flash was used at all but it will lift the shadows and skin tones. Especially with the leaf shutter on that x100, that little built in flash works wonders if you give it a chance.
Thank you so much for the informative video! I own a X100F and am looking for a flashlight, mainly for product photography. Would you still recommend the same flashlight and trigger for X100F in 2024?

Hi, Booray. Love your videos. There's something I don't understand though: you say that you only use the Godox in E-TTL (don't know what that 'E' means, I've only encountered 'TTL' in the past), and yet you use the Godox to bounce flash. That doesn't make sense to me. How can TTL work when the flash is not pointed at what the camera is looking at? I have the TT350 as well as the X2T. It works great. But I don't use TTL when I'm bouncing the light. Any thoughts? Alastair Anderson.
"E" stands for "evaluative." The way ETTL works, the flash fires a pre-flash and then the camera meters the light, decides how much power it needs to get the correct exposure, then fires the flash at that power with the shutter open and captures the image. So, the camera has no idea what your flash is pointed at and doesn't care. It just measures the light from the pre-flash and sets the power for the exposure. It's setting the flash power based on the reflected light from your subject and it doesn't matter what path the light took to get there.
@@BoorayPerry Wow! Thanks for the amazingly quick response. Yes of course. I understand it now. Thank you. Evaluative through the lens mode for me from now on. if the background is too dark when you take pictures with the flash it's because you are not setting your exposure for the background. put your camera in manual settings and adjust them until the background looks good then turn on the flash and add people
I notice in another video you love the v860 because of the li-ion batteries, but it seems you suggest the tt350 (instead of v350). Im trying to decide between the v350 and tt350 and wonder your thoughts. The price difference is pretty extreme.
I've never used the V350, in fact I never saw it until just now. I'm guessing it's newer? The V has a chargable battery and is .4 inches wider. Otherwise the power is the same. So really it's just a question of whether or not you want the rechargable battery. For travel, I would rather use the AA's so I wouldn't have to carry a charger. Personally, I don't use it so much that I would benefit from the more expensive one.
It's not great but it's not bad. The best I can't compare it to is that it's about the same as any other camera with a proportional sized flash on top... top heavy to be sure but that's true of any flash that can do what this flash does. It's not the perfect size for this camera... it's the expected size for a flash of this type and this ability.
Just for everyone who is curious :D (got my Flash an hour ago): IF you use a Grip Extender, a Lenshood and your TT350 on your X100 it balances out even and wont tilt forward if it hangs around your neck. Besides that, it looks aestheticly gorgeous Thanks again Perry!!!

Great video. Cant wait to watch the off camera flash video when u upload if. Hope it's on before I go on holiday in a few weeks time. Love my x100f, my wife hates it she likes my canon g7x lol. Love the full Fuji system, own a x70, x100f and xt3 👍👍
Thanks for the Canon sync cord tip! Though the whole video is great, and very informative without being verbose or patronising, this tip was particularly relevant as I had the very cord in my now redundant DSLR kit. It meant I could go out and shoot the same night with my newly acquired x100F using the little, overpriced Fuji flash I bought and never used. Thanks for that. Have subscribed.
@@BoorayPerry Yeah! It was great. I'm that guy backing the new kid on the block, moving from Canon DSLRs and SLRs before them. The XT3 has revolutionised my videography, and mainly for the reasons you outlined about encroaching age and its effect on the eyes. I don't like the switch back and forth between vid and stills on the XT3 in the field as I mostly shoot in cramped music venues and just don't like the fiddling involved, so bought the X100F to handle stills, now that I could get one new for £770. I fell in love with the 100T, but couldn't justify the £1200 price tag for the F upgrade, when faced with just £1350 for the XT3 with the awesome kit lens. I'd never even heard of the XT3 before that. Anyway, keep up the good work, you're a great teacher.
@@BoorayPerry Yup. I have no regrets shifting to Fuji, especially for video, but also for raw feel of using them and the renewal of my love for photography they have brought. Love em.
Great review! Very helpful comparison against the EF-X20. Is there a mini flash that would recommend to work with a Fuji X camera as well well a Nikon/Canon mirrorless or full-frame? I’m looking into a flash for the X100F, but would prefer to get something that works with another camera that is not a Fuji X. Thanks in advance.
there are no flashes that will work on two different brand cameras and still have TTL. Each brand has it's own "language" for communicating with the flash.
@@srdiaries3981 There are several pure manual flashes you can buy cheap but you would have to check to see if they work with both Canon and Fuji. They should because both brands have the "firing pin" in the same spot I believe
Would it perfectly work with Fujifilm X100T? I have the camera and I am an absolute beginner. I don't like the brightness of indoor photos and I don't use the built-in flash
I think it lacks the power to work as the main flash for a wedding photographer but if I was a guest at a wedding it just take me pictures of my friends idea would be fine 😁
Great video Booray! It inspired me to to buy the TT350F and X2T-F for my Fuji X100-F. Unfortunatley I don´t get the X2T-F trigger to work in TTL mode, only manual or multi. I tried lots of option and ran out of ideas. Although your video is referencing the Godox X1T-F, do you have any suggestions how make the X2T-F work? Many thanks!
Booray, what are your thoughts on the X1T-F vs. the slightly more expensive Xpro F controller, especially if you plan on more than one type of Godox flash.
The X1t had a smaller form factor and the ability to put a flash on top which is useful if you are using a hot shoe system for controlling a different brand of flashes. But if you are using Godox speed lights and such, the Xpro is easier to read, easier to use, and has a feature that I have been asking for for years. You can shoot in TTL and then lock in your settings in manual. That feature alone makes it worth it.
It's fixed so you can't bounce it on camera. That's a deal breaker for me. The reason I think the godocs is the best flash is that it is basically a smaller version of a full-size professional flash.
Hi Booray! Love your channel! Very inspiring. One question about the Godox trigger and the X100F. I read about the custom setting C.Fn-11 of the Godox trigger X1T-F (FW.05). The manual says for a setting C.Fn-11 = 1: "The cameras that use between-the-lens-shutters e.g.X100F, X100T, etc. Choose this option and set all groups to M mode can reach high-speed sync within 1/1250s." I'm not exactly sure what this implies. I do understand I have to use C.Fn.-11 to tell the trigger that it is now on a camera with a leaf shutter. Got that and that’s fine. But what about the “and set all groups to M mode” part? Wouldn’t that imply no TTL?
A portrait during bright sunlight. Sun in the back of the person and the flash to brighten the face. As I tend to shoot the X100 around f4 or f2.8 the shutter speed will be high. But the point is, the Godox manual doesn’t say that you need to go M mode only for high shutter speeds. The manual (at least the english translation) say, you need to be in M mode when shooting on a camera with a leaf shutter. At least that’s how I read it. But I have my doubts if that is correct.
I had a question about this on my other video ua-cam.com/video/cud70cusOWo/v-deo.html I did a test and here's what I got: With the flash on camera I got a good pop at f14, 1/2000 With flash off camera I got no pop at those settings (it popped but missed the shutter) I was able to get a good pop at f14 and 1/1000 but no higher
@@robinb5752 Well you definitely don't have to go manual with the Godox TT 350. I've never even used it in manual. I've shot that flash off camera at 1/1000 but had trouble higher than that. Even with a leaf shutter you are going to reach a point where the flash can't pop at the exact moment the entire aperture is open. Even the built-in flash on the x100f can't pop at faster than 1/1000 and f2, you have to go to f4 to raise the SS any higher. Could that be the problem? People forget that the top SS is variable at f2-f4
Booray Perry, you’re running into the limitation of the shutter itself. The X100F can only do: 1/1000: all apertures 1/2000: f/4 and smaller 1/4000: f/8 and smaller The internal flash will indeed sync as long as you’re within those boundaries.
Wow. You got me Thinking that maybe 2019 will be the year I try to learn flash photography. Might order this flash and the trigger. I’m intrigued to see that you put the bounce card on the short side of the flash. What’s the deal there? Really looking forward to the video about how you use it.
Thanks. I picked up the Flashpoint version as soon as it came out but, the built in bounce card being so tiny, I've been resorting to a piece of white card stock and rubber band.
Personally I use a large white balloon as a diffuser and due to its ability to become very large but also compact enough to fit in a wallet it's incredibly efficient and cheap and still gets that glamorous look
I have the same flash for my oly em5 just not an F but with an O for my kind :p . I am still learning to use it off cam though. I'm quite interested in your portable softbox. Would be nice to have a small light stand and at the same time as portable (do you have recommendations)
Because I'm obsessed with keeping things small with this kit, the only softbox Use with this flash is an F-stoppers flash disc. I show it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/cud70cusOWo/v-deo.html The problem is that the camera and flash don't lend themselves to using a softbox. The flash is not powerful so it can't really afford to lose power to a modifier. The camera is 35mm equivalent so you can't get really tight on a face without distortion, so you back up which means the flash has to be farther out to stay out of frame, limiting it's power even more!
According to Godox, the TT350 flash doesn’t do HSS with 2.4GHz wireless. www.godox.com/EN/Products_Mini_Camera_Flash_TT350F.html But other than that, yeah this seems like a good choice. I can still do HSS daylight fill either on camera, or with my Canon OC-3 cable.
You don't need HSS. That's the beauty of the Fuji x100f. Because it has a leaf shutter you can use regular flash at a much higher shutter speed. Personally, I rarely find a good use for HSS. Most of the time when I would use it I'm in a situation where I can't afford the loss of flash power that comes along with it.
Booray Perry, let’s say you want to shoot the X100F in full daylight, with fill flash, f/2.8 @ 1/1000s ISO250 with ND filter on. Will your Godox wireless setup fire, in ETTL? If so, then that’s all I need.
@@joeltunnah Yes, it will fire. I just did it to be sure. :) Just remember it's smaller and less powerful than a full-size DSLR flash. I would be leary of using the ND filter too much as it will take 3 stops off your flash.
Really like your videos, just like you I'm x100f and canon user, hence the question... can you use the same godox trigger on fuji and canon? Off course not at the same time... ;) thanks
Unfortunately, you cannot. I had to buy a separate transmitter for my Fuji. The good news is that transmitter will work with any off camera flash that you currently own that is godox.
Booray Perry thanks for your awser. I'm on the verge of changing system from canon to fuji and at the same time need to buy trugger for canon speedlight.... not sure what to do... any advises? :)

@@BoorayPerry Thanks but I disagree. You can use the in-body flash as a commander and detach the EF-X20 (switch to slave mode) so it fires off-camera using its light sensor as a trigger. Not only you can bounce flash but also have all the angles you need. With the TT350, you need a Godox trigger or a cable to trigger it off-camera.
@@ShutterKnack yes you can but it has to be able to see and register the flash. So much easier to use a TTL radio trigger which is built into the TT350. But that's not the big reason. The big reason is bounce flash.

I am getting myself a X100V soon. How does it Balances out when you carry it around your neck with the flash on?
Kind regards:)
@@BoorayPerry Thanks the Reply! I got myself a bigger Lenshood and a L Bracket. This should counter weight the Flash abit! :)
Just for everyone who is curious :D (got my Flash an hour ago):
IF you use a Grip Extender, a Lenshood and your TT350 on your X100 it balances out even and wont tilt forward if it hangs around your neck. Besides that, it looks aestheticly gorgeous
Thanks again Perry!!!
I am tempted to buy the Fuji x100f, too. I shoot big Nikons. I found a NEW x100f in Japan for less than $1000...boxed.Does this seem like a scam to you? Love your passion. Free shipping and 30-day return.
That's a great deal and I would be skeptical but it has been out for over a year and direct from Asia is usually cheaper...
@@BoorayPerry Tks for your response. That would be a big discount from US sellers...$375 lower. I have bought from Japan with success.
Great video. Cant wait to watch the off camera flash video when u upload if. Hope it's on before I go on holiday in a few weeks time. Love my x100f, my wife hates it she likes my canon g7x lol. Love the full Fuji system, own a x70, x100f and xt3 👍👍
excellent and clear thanks
Thanks!
Fantastic video. Thank you... you were talking like you knew me..
Shawn? Is that you, Shawn?!
I love it when I discover i have something in a box somewhere that solves my problem :)
@@LouSmith Hey thanks! there's no doubt the Xt-3 is the most bang for the buck out there.
Thanks for replying! Understood. If I didn’t require TTL, are there any worthwhile options?
@@srdiaries3981 There are several pure manual flashes you can buy cheap but you would have to check to see if they work with both Canon and Fuji. They should because both brands have the "firing pin" in the same spot I believe
Would it perfectly work with Fujifilm X100T? I have the camera and I am an absolute beginner. I don't like the brightness of indoor photos and I don't use the built-in flash
I believe so, yes. You can check the specs online and see if it's listed but i see no reason why it wouldn't work.
Would this flash work for a wedding event?
I think it lacks the power to work as the main flash for a wedding photographer but if I was a guest at a wedding it just take me pictures of my friends idea would be fine 😁
How do we talk about flash on a camera with a leaf shutter and avoid the discussion of fill flash in bright sun?
By making a video about the leaf shutter and flash. :) ua-cam.com/video/DgHDM8tvkpU/v-deo.html
I don't... I don't have that one for Fuji. Sorry...:(
Booray, what are your thoughts on the X1T-F vs. the slightly more expensive Xpro F controller, especially if you plan on more than one type of Godox flash.
That feature alone makes it worth it.
is that x1t fuji compatible with x100 (without T&F)
Good content. I enjoyed it Brutha.
Did you look at the Flash Q20. Small, powerful, works on camera TTL and off camera.
It's fixed so you can't bounce it on camera. That's a deal breaker for me. The reason I think the godocs is the best flash is that it is basically a smaller version of a full-size professional flash.
Booray Perry the head has a unique way of rotating on the Q20. You can bounce it.
Everything I've read about it says it doesn't compare to the godox.
The head won't rotate as far. It doesn't have TTL. They say that the transmitters don't work well on Fuji....
Hi Booray! Love your channel! Very inspiring. One question about the Godox trigger and the X100F. I read about the custom setting C.Fn-11 of the Godox trigger X1T-F (FW.05).
The manual says for a setting C.Fn-11 = 1:
"The cameras that use between-the-lens-shutters e.g.X100F, X100T, etc. Choose this option and set all groups to M mode can reach high-speed sync within 1/1250s."
I'm not exactly sure what this implies. I do understand I have to use C.Fn.-11 to tell the trigger that it is now on a camera with a leaf shutter. Got that and that’s fine. But what about the “and set all groups to M mode” part? Wouldn’t that imply no TTL?
M mode means no TTL so I guess so. What are you trying to do that you need a sync speed that high?
A portrait during bright sunlight. Sun in the back of the person and the flash to brighten the face. As I tend to shoot the X100 around f4 or f2.8 the shutter speed will be high. But the point is, the Godox manual doesn’t say that you need to go M mode only for high shutter speeds. The manual (at least the english translation) say, you need to be in M mode when shooting on a camera with a leaf shutter. At least that’s how I read it. But I have my doubts if that is correct.
I had a question about this on my other video ua-cam.com/video/cud70cusOWo/v-deo.html
I did a test and here's what I got:
With the flash on camera I got a good pop at f14, 1/2000
With flash off camera I got no pop at those settings (it popped but missed the shutter)
I was able to get a good pop at f14 and 1/1000 but no higher
The X100F can only do:
1/1000: all apertures
1/2000: f/4 and smaller
1/4000: f/8 and smaller
The internal flash will indeed sync as long as you’re within those boundaries.
Wow. You got me Thinking that maybe 2019 will be the year I try to learn flash photography. Might order this flash and the trigger. I’m intrigued to see that you put the bounce card on the short side of the flash. What’s the deal there? Really looking forward to the video about how you use it.
It's designed that way. If you put it on the long side you can't shoot in portrait/vertical mode.
Will this support x2t-f ttl ?
Booray, do you if we can use canon flash using an external trigger from godox in the Fuji? To trigger the canon flash? Like 430exii. Thanks
No you can't. Each flash manufacturer requires it's own trigger as far as I know.
Thanx👍
Booray, do you know if the new 100v has a new radio in it to control an off flash?
It does not.
Which model of the DEMB Flip-it do you use? They have several models and I'm not sure if some are too big for the TT350/V350 head.
It's the photojournalist model. I think you have to get it from the website. www.Dembflashproducts.com
I show it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/cud70cusOWo/v-deo.html
The problem is that the camera and flash don't lend themselves to using a softbox. The flash is not powerful so it can't really afford to lose power to a modifier. The camera is 35mm equivalent so you can't get really tight on a face without distortion, so you back up which means the flash has to be farther out to stay out of frame, limiting it's power even more!
Thank you for this video! I'd like to know if i can use this sistem flash-trigger whith Fuji x 100 s?? Thank you so much
Yes. The S isn't listed on the specs for the godox trigger but it will work. I bought my trigger when I had the S.
According to Godox, the TT350 flash doesn’t do HSS with 2.4GHz wireless.
www.godox.com/EN/Products_Mini_Camera_Flash_TT350F.html
But other than that, yeah this seems like a good choice.
Booray Perry, thanks for the info, and your useful videos!!
I heard there is a lithium ion battery version of this flash? If so, which version is this? Thanks
I really don’t want to spend more $ on the v350f
I haven't heard that.
@@drimer9 I used Phottix triggers for years and found them to be very reliable.
Booray Perry thank you :) Can't wait to watch your video about flashes now :)
Do you know if this flash will work with the original Fuji X100?
I don't know. I know it worked with the S because I had that one..
@@BoorayPerry Thanks for the response anyway :)
How do you use the built in flash ?
I have a video about that.. ua-cam.com/video/Uu-HwEFKKdM/v-deo.html
My display doesn’t light up; is there something I missed?
It should be orange. Check the f.cn settings. The manual will tell you what they are and how to change them.
I thought the best flash for the X100F is the EF-X20? Matching build quality and size. Slave function.
I had that flash and sold it. The problem is that it only adds power vs. the built in flash. The TT350F adds functionality. Watch my video ob bounce flash with the TT350...ua-cam.com/video/HErk8_XGjqg/v-deo.html
Booray Perry thanks!! ✌️
Just my gripe, but why ask us to like/subscribe BEFORE we know what you have to offer?
The same reason that telethons ask you for money right at the top. They know the most people are watching then. :)
Your microphone volume is up too much... it ends up sounding distorted
Paul G Not at all on my iPad...?
Fuji EF-X20. Nothing else to say. You want to do serious lighting then get another camera. I have an H1, T2, T3 and F. X100F has a use and flash is not one of them.
I don't want to do serious lighting. I want to do decent lighting.
you just talk too much
