It's normal dancing and normal music. 99% of it matches up, just use a basic video editor. Now If it was weird time, like autechre, and matching up, would be of note.
@@blumer9615 can't agree more. It's a lot more alienated from other more traditional albums, which turns a lot of people away, but it's still one of the best pieces of the decade from an objective and effort stance, hand down.
No, nostalgia for me is Chamber of Secrets on PC and Hey Sandy by Polaris. This is more of a timelessness of joy and beauty kind of a thing. The pairing of footage of young beautiful people doing beautiful things from 80-70 years ago to a modern song (one that, in itself, sounds very beautiful) shows an eternal virtue of humanity. It doesn't matter if you're alive now or dead 500 years ago; to be a human being, whenever you are, is pretty fucking fantastic.
As an editor myself, I really appreciate the timing and dynamics of the scene intensity, particularly during the chorus. Great work, this song is fantastic and I'm glad I found this video by looking it up.

broke up with my ex a year ago. we still talk here and there. it’s not the same obviously. i miss her so much. listening to this song is like communicating with her. i daydream about dancing with her again. this video takes me back to those times. thank you.

Pure art...the song, the editing, the actors. If my late mother could see this (dances and actors whose films of her youth she loved), and how the editor mixed to a melancholic song she would cry due to the sheer beauty of it. This video always reminds me of her
the little pause at 1:01 when the two men raise their hats is perfect, the editing & general vibes from these clips is so good!!! it makes the song that much better
People don't smile like this anymore. ='/ I love their smiles so much. I can't take my eyes off all these beautiful smiles. The dancing and costumes pale in comparison next to those bright smiles. I especially love the men's smiles, so wonderful.
I disagree, if you see someone doing something they truly enjoy their smile will be just as heartfelt, it just is harder to see, since it is not projected rigth into your face through a feintly blue Display. If you only look for bad things you are going to find them. Luckily it also works the other way around.
It's hard to find people who enjoy dancing. I've danced for quite some time and performed a couple times and I also enjoy watching other people's performances. It saddens me and it makes me angry when people want to learn how to dance but is not wiling to put effort into it, and when they perform, they don't seem to enjoy it or don't do their best to show what are they are capable of. Don't get me wrong, I've seen people who do the most beautiful dance you would ever see, and you can say they really enjoy to perform and show themselves. Just, it is really a downer to see people who don't put effort into things others enjoy.
This is amazing! You are a true genius, David Dean Burkhart! Some bands should really thank you for how many views their songs get thanks to your videos.
ever experience something so magical you keep going back to the same place to experience it again, and every time you do it's just as perfect as the first. that's this.
Could the video match better to the song? Probably no, the beats and the video go together so excellent, that I just can't resist watching it over and over again! Wonderful work!
I've never watched a video and felt so deeply in love with the art of dance - particularly in that era. I always appreciated and admired it, but now... I'm in awe. Plus, the music was so so fitting. Thank you for this upload.
The editing and the song are just wonderful, and they complement each other so well. It's like someone understood the exact feeling Archy was trying to express. Thanks for that video. ! :)
damn, its been 10 years since I heard this for the first time. It was late at night in the winter, and I was sitting under a tree watching a train pass as I tried to warm my hands with the heat of a cigarette. what a killer track, I was enchanted
this is such a great video. thanks you know. thanks for being good. It a shame that dancers now aren't treated like they were by mainstream media. There isn't really a Gene Kelly of our generation.
1:59 was absolutely crazy. i dont know how he/she found the perfect clip for that little part of the song
I was thinking the same thing.
how many girls do you know called david?
Oh god, 2:42 what the hell David

is it really fair use though? it is the entire song
camel dog id say so, it doesn’t have a music video if he were to make a video it wouldn’t even be close to this masterpiece.
SAMEEEE
I am always so satisfied, yet sad, when this song ends. It's like eating a delicious meal.
something about this vintage style video really adds a lot to the song.
There is nothing more close to my heart than this video.
Felicity Eddy That's beautifully said !
I can't get enough about this
which one?
You know I tried so hard
My feelings just can’t discard
The way in which I fell into
Your heart was never what I once knew
Lately my skull has kept
Dividing lines deep set and paved
Two paths too wander through to depart
And sever desires to pursue
And the soul chokes
To cause the tide
To enforce divide
This whole devotion has morphed in time
I’ll escort her mind to solve my crimes
Reach slow motion to con the mind
See here I trace my steps
To where my senses left
And rain had turn my sense to mush
This slowly seeping straight through the crust
Now let these stains of gunk slip down
To where my head once sunk and drowned
Just await for a while to see
My body has merged to the deep krule sea
But my soul floats
Adrift thoughtless minds, distorted lines
The soul is broken down, borderlines
To cause the tide, to enforce divide
This whole devotion has morphed in time
I’ll escort her mind to solve my crimes
Reach slow motion, con the mind
So scorn divine and mourn the pride
The cold has spoken, draw the line
