Nice shave and glad to see you back in the den Mark! It looks nice in there from the pics you shared 😎👍 Some brushes just don't do both face and bowl lathering well. I wonder if the brush feeling uncomfortable to you made the razor feel more rough than it actually is 🤔 I think some more experimenting is in order 😉 Have a good one! Steve
It could be Steve, but it does have a heck of a lot of backbone, more than any other brush I've encountered. There will be a bit more experimenting but I really don't think it's for me. We shall see.
I’ve seen some of these Yaqi Razors, and they look quite nice. Love what you’ve done with your Shave Den. Stirling Shaving Soaps and Aftershave Balms, have become my very favorites! Blessings my friend.
Hi Mark- Great shave; thank you! It’s very nice to see you back in the den! Sorry the knot isn’t working a little better; maybe some additional break-in time will help. I hope you have a restful weekend ahead. Sending best regards, as always, my friend!
@@robertmacmoneagle6917 At the moment, I am reading The Beekeeper of Aleppo, which I think will turn out to be a difficult read, but I am also venturing into Stoicism and The Art of Happiness, which looks interesting and encourages one to think, and I have just received How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci, which I will set by for another time. 😀
@@FriendshipShaving Very interesting choices Mark. I would find it difficult to concentrate and to digest and understand those types of books possibly. I think I have ADHD but of course they'd not named the difficulties and put them into a named syndrome, if that's the correct way of putting it, when you and I were younger. I hope you derive a quiet pleasure from your reading and gain from it.
@@robertmacmoneagle6917 Thank you my friend. It is quite hard going, especially since I had meningitis and have a brain injury! I'm reading a page at a time, so they may last a few years.
I was off school Wed-Fri this week. Schools in the city were all closed due to flooding. With the extra time on my hands, I thought I would experiment and try a shave with the Rockwell 6C on plate one. Five passes on 24 hours of growth left me still needed two more passes on plate three. Needles to say, I shall not be foing that again😅😅😅
Nice one mate, Den looks very nice. If you stick a pin in the bubble and press it with a damp cloth. Thanks for the video And have a great weekend Atb Paul
Nice shiny new den Mark! Yea I’m with you on backbone levels. That brush wouldn’t be for me. I prefer lower backbone. I hate fighting to splay the knot. Then the neck gets sore. Just not a pleasant experience. Take care!!
Exactly so! It does make my neck sore and I think the amount of backbone is far too excessive, in my opinion. Luckily I have some very nice soft and lovely brushes 😃
Nice to see you back in the den and giving a small blood donation as well. I also learned that I've been pronouncing "Yaqi" incorrectly. I hope your brush will soften over time and be less irritating to your skin. Have a good weekend, Mark.
I've christened the new den in a blood sacrifice. All is good with the pagan gods of the shave. 😀 Someone told me it was Yachi and I notice one or two others saying it this way. We could all be wrong!
I used my new sputnik for the 2nd time today, along with ozark mountain. What are the odds?! I would agree that it's a medium aggressive razor, however I feared it would be more agressive based on the blade gap.
Oh, nice! What a coincidence. I was the same; a little concerned it would be more aggressive, as you mentioned. I think a few more shaves will see me more used to it.
I'm not keen on a strong backbone brush & generally avoid the high G knots. Considering the blade gap on the Sputnik it feels relatively non-aggressive. Take care Mark 👌🤠👌

Hi Mark
The den is looking great, congrats! Lots of blue for today: blue brush handle, blue razor, blue door, blue shirt, plastic blue protector.
Hello my friend. These things are, sometimes, not by mere chance 😀 Well, okay - the razor, brush handle and door - the rest was a fluke😂
The long awaited and much anticipated đến return! Ahhhh, it feels good to be back.
It really needed a fanfare!🎺
A great shave with which to reopen the đến to us, Mark.
Wishing both your mum and you a great weekend.
All the best from Thailand. 😊
Thank you, my friend. Best wishes to your family.
Congrats on the new den!
Thanks!

I like the minimalist decor Mark. Way to stay the course with that brush!
Thank you, Earl. I shall give the brush a fair go.

Hi Mike. Thank you for your regards. I have some reading to do this week-end👍 Enjoy your rest days. Take care buddy.
Hi Mark. Any particular genre of reading material?

Thank you very much.
Nice razor, great video. To bad the brush didn't work out for you.
Thanks 👍 It may get better in time. Fingers crossed.

Good to see your return to the new den, pity the brush didn't work too well
I still like the blue colour razor. Enjoy your weekend Mark
Thanks Roy 👍 Take care and have a nice week-end yourself.
deco looks great mate 👌yes for me i have one of those knots and i find it better for bowl lathering then paint on the face 👍
Thanks for the tip Paul, I shall try bowl lathering but I feel it may have a short lived existence in my den, unless it improves. Cheers.
Oh man, i liked the boats! 😮 If you are happy tho, that's what matters. I do like that blue color door tho! 😁👍🏼

nice razor it looks like a clone of the hone type 15 but that ones made of brass.
Indeed, but Hone also make the 15a which is aluminium and they make the 15s which is stainless steel.

Do you think that this brush might benefit from popping the knot out and increasing the loft?
It may well do, but how do you pop the knot out not knowing what adhesive is used?
@@FriendshipShaving just steam it in a pot of water, and then twist the knot out. I have done it 3-4 times.

Hi Lawrie. This brush probably isn't going to be a keeper.

Hi Mark, I am guessing that some synthetics need break in time. Don’t give up on it! Best regards, Glenn
