@@kurtdewittphoto Sorry if i'm crossing boundaries here, just asking as a 20 year old what i could do to have 0 to no regrets later. Are you still in this relationship?
After travelling back and forth over many years, you rarely find songs/music that flood your memory. I have always written about my trips and over the course of a week I have been typing them out as like a memoir and these songs oddly allowed me to write more detailed as it explored my emotions.
That tangibility is beautiful when it comes from the depths of nowhere, huh? Especially backed with a score like this. Always reminds me of the juxtaposition between the harsh and peaceful sounds/visuals in a landscape & sound changing game like Kingdom Hearts
In 2001, I became pretty obsessed with these specific parts of the score, myself & two good friends backpacked round Europe and i kept this on my mini disc from city to city. Wherever i am this music reminds me of good times and a reminder to “keep an open mind and suck in the experience”
I hear you so loud and clear! From June 2019 to September 2019 I was backpacking Europe solo. When I got back home (Manchester, England) I saw the movie and so many scenes resonated with me - When Daffy describes the beach to Richard it reminds me of the way a man described Zakopane (Poland) Richard with Francois - On my last night I was in Calais, France as I was taking the ferry to England the following day. As it was Friday I went out to party, a beautiful woman with glasses started dancing with me. We went to the beach and had sex under the stars. I remember her smile, her scent but I never got her details. When Richard talks about "haze of infutation" it reminded me of a Colunbian girl I met in Bruges, Belgium. I thought she could be 'the one' turns out I just liked her as a person "Pursuit of pleasure" I was saving up for a car but decided to travel. I remember sat under the clear sky at work and felt down so I made a change. The night before the trip I was so excited I couldn't sleep. The anxiety was present but fuck it, I got my head saying "life is too short to worry" The end scene - Before I went to end my trip I walked through the streets filming the sounds and trying to be happy. I was close to tears as I didn't want to go home. I kept smelling things and taking in the smells of the streets and shops. I bought a croissant. I stood on the ferry deck in Calais, France. I saw people in the distance (as the port is next to the town) and I smelled the croissant and ate it. I stayed outside until France was out of sight (despite being 26 miles away from England) I listened to French radio until it was gone. I got back to Dover and went up to the White Cliffs of Dover and collected my thoughts as I looked clearly at the coastline of France. I vowed to explore more and live for the day, save up and bounce when I can. Forget about budgets and fears - LIVE. I returned home the following day, my next door neighbours have two sons (29 and 22) who don't work and just wander around the area. When I am down I just remember I have lived. As Richard said "Paradise is how you feel" ohhhhh man. Since then I travelled for one month in Russia, been back to France three times and as soon as lockdown restrictions lifted and I could go on holiday I went to France, Spain and Germany. I am currently saving up for a three month European trip next year (as soon as I can) This shows the powerful affect this film had on us
@@danielmarsden3992 “that’s a good story” 👍 i hope you find your paradise buddy. I highly recommend incorporating both Scandinavia & Eastern Europe in your travels. I haven't used this YT account in the longest and saw this in my likes. Even after all of the years this will always remind me of my days travelling; the people I met, the people I saw, the sights, the sounds and smells. One year in cambodia. Went there alone, was fucking scared, almost didnt do it (I'm an anxious loner), but did it... Swam in the night in the ocean on an remote island, the water around our bodies green from fluorescent algae; wandered through the temples of angkor in the heaviest rainfall; blasted through the wilderness, deepest rainforests on motorbikes; met a group of soldiers on a track in the forest clearing it from mines and didnt got blewn up; saw dolphins in the upper mekong river; had the most romantic scene on my own balcony in heavy rainfall in the tropical night, noone wanting to go inside although we were soaked; nearly missed some serious crisis (huge military gathering in the capital due to a possible coup, all of the locals had already fueled up their vehicles to leave for their relatives in the countryside); met a monk in his pagoda on a hill overlooking endless rainforest and hills, telling the story of his life (which was painted on the walls in drawings); saw more stars than nightsky while having a pee before bed in the jungle; drank moonshine in a one-hut-village somewhere in nomansland and still can see; got run over by a car on my motorbike and crashed by myself several more times; smoked weed on a small island in laos and had a great time with some buds; slept in a "police station" at a contruction site of an enormous damm im the f.... nowhere in a really nasty bed next to a loaded AK and millions of mosquitos;got drunk in a bar and did the apsara dance; passed a lynch mob with machetes and bricks in an alley in phnom penh late at night; saw a huge river, flowing in different directions, depending on the season; drove through the whole country with 250s without having any kind of licence; bribing a cop with 5 USD because not having one; got a drawing of some for me special places of my homecountry tatooed on my arm in a bit filthy studio; hopefully got no serious diseases; drank lots of flat beer; drank with a local, won and found him the next morning on the same place i left him, eaten up by mosquitos; hurt at least someone (maybe more than once) and hopefully made at least another one smile. Sounds like a fairytale? Trust me, it was! I had the happiest, sadest, most adventurous, most boring, most sociable, most lonely, nicest, strangest, luckiest, not so lucky times of my life! does anyone know the song that plays a little after 20 mins into the movie where richard etienne and francoise are sailing away from a sunset and richard is on the far left smoking and then it shows them eating next to a fire on the island
@Jelly141516 Sometimes there are cues used in the film that never make it onto the OST. I've bought OSTs for one cue that was never used in it. For example, there's a piece of music in Bourne Identity when Matt Damon is climbing down the embassy and it's not on the soundtrack. There may have been alternative cues. I have the beach soundtrack, I will try and locate the piece you mean.
OK I see the music you're talking about (Badalamenti theme with a light drum) but unfortunately, it doesn't exist as such to my knowledge. They have used the song Swim to Island and added some extra drum...

Well just like Richard said all through the movie "You'll never know until you try, right?" "Paradise is not some place you can look for, it's not where you go, but how you feel for a moment in your life".

Rubbish! Do it now!
Pretty sure the 20's can only be done wrong
