    It's amazing to think that at one time, Flint's population was so big that three, yes three, shopping malls were assigned to different sections of the town to accommodate all that foot traffic. I miss my hometown... the way it used to be. #disenfranchisedgrief

    What's sad is I remember at Christmas shopping time, you could barely move while walking, there were so many shoppers. Even though it was smaller then the Genesee Valley, they would pack Eastland' and every lot was occupied with a business. It was a rockin' place to be..

    I went here a lot as a teenager. We lived out in the boonies and this was the only mall my parents would let me go to alone. My first job was in a dollar store where El Cozumel is now. Back in1995.

    I commented on your Genesee Valley mall video. I would come to this mall too back in the 79's and early 80's. I seen "The Empire Strikes Back" at this mall with a friend visiting from Israel and his aunt who lived a few house down from us.
    Those old photographs bring back memories.

    Thank you for this, I grew up in the early 00s as a teen and recall this place being a lot more busy then. I think GameStop and such were there too. I also frequented Old Country Buffet with my family, which I think was a part of this mall too.
    God, this is as close as a time machine that we can get. I'd do anything to go back.

    This is Burton, Michigan. (Flint is across the street, the dividing line is Center Road until Lippincott.), it was Burton Township when the Eastland Mall opened in 1968. Flint tried to annex the mall so in 1972 we became the city of Burton to stop Flint from taking part of AC and the Eastland Mall. The City of Flint annexed 1/3 of Burton Township for tax revenue. The cultural area on Kearsley street was Burton township too, by 1920’s was annexed to City of Flint to get more money for Mott College etc. So the eastern border was East boulevard Street by the old Flint Post Office by Robert T. Longway Blvd in 1855. Thank you Mona

      I could only find one street named East St, and that runs north of Atherton Road, a little east of Dort. That is no where near the Post Office near Robert T. Are you saying that Burton used to go west to East St.?

    • @monasJourneys
      @monasJourneys 2 роки тому

      @@danielpozarek7462 hello East Boulevard in the corner of Burton Street by habitat for humanity will be where you find your border. And the city of flint became a city in 1855, and Burton Township 1855 and that was the border.

    I used to frequent that mall in the mid to late 80s. They had a good arcade in there, I'd meet my friend there who lived in Genesee county and we'd sometime go to the Perry's drug store and buy drinks and hang out. I hate to see it close down, but that's obviously the next step. I haven't been there in almost 20 years. Odd I never went to the theatre there, we'd usually go to the Burton Cinema, it was a bit closer and had a better selection of movies.

    I’ve shopped in that mall many times. I’m glad to see that they’re keeping it up. Maybe that’s a hopeful sign for Flint, in spite of that shell of a motel across Center Rd from the mall. @@darylturcott I'm just going to let you know, it's very condescending and offensive to just misinformed people about locations where they grew up. Do your research and then produce your content. I lived there for 40 years I remember it was a good place you're very unsensitive in my opinion and I know 100,000 people that would want to kick your ass for saying that please believe respect our population even though we're obsolete to you we're still human beings. I relocated to Houston Texas a year ago and it makes me sick how y'all talk about our town like it's a third world country. We're all Americans and we deserve respect jackass

      I respect flint and burton, even though i consider it part of the metropolitan flint area, like flint township, grand blanc, mt. Morris, etc. I did videos about several abandoned mobile home parks and called out the deadbeat owners who let the people who lived there down. I did a video about back to the bricks, the restored theater, and the Who concert keith moon car in swimming pool incident. The area has a great history and lots of good people trying to get by. I think in a few years there will be a resurgence similar to what detroit is experiencing now.
      But thanks for watching, every view and comment helps.
