How is it obvious? Plz explain. I am curious. What I see is a very Russian training product, fantastic jumps & technical excellence. Just his body shape and his flexibility reminds me of YH. But this will disappear as he grows stronger and with more muscles. Besides what I heard he has been under attack by Yuzuru's rabid fans. That was when I first noticed him. He's pretty good and will give Yuma a run for his money. He and Yuma are the pretenders to the next figure skating dynasty after Chen Dynasty. (Just my prediction) We are seeing a new generation of skaters. But I hope they will inspire us like their predecessors YH & NC.

How is it even possible that 4 years ago, he was only doing triple jumps (and struggling with a few), and 4 years later, he is doing 4T-4T combos and a 4A? 🤯
I mean it’s crazy how much kids can grow, develop, and learn in 4 years. Here he was a lil 12 yr old, and now he’s almost an adult! If you train daily for yrs and yrs, I’m not surprised by the insane results that can come from it in that time period
i really admire this boy he is doing the same difficult entry hanyu does in his camel spin and in his salchow. He is also imitating the starting and the ending pose , so cute
It's a shame that he didn't get the spot to attend 2022 Olympics. The Beijing Olympics is likely the last chance he can skate on the same ice as Yuzuru Hanyu.
I saw Ilia in the World Champions competition 2022 and I hung there that he looks like Yuzuru's style and everyone said no and now when I saw this I'm sure now....he's really cute and talented
His mother, Tatiana Malinina used to come to NHK trophy during her competitive carrier. I liked to watch her skating in TV then, she was one of my favorite skaters. Now her son is performing the program inspired by Seimei. Life is really strange :). (Only one thing, for the collar of his costume, it looks like it's better to learn more from original one.)

Wow, 2018 and 2023. His improvement is tremendous. Yuzuru,s impact on him is huge that I think he is trying to up his level of technical which is quite common for young skaters then only shift to artistry enhancement.
@@saeedtuoba1408 i think because the usa takes the body of works into account more than nationals, and he doesnt have the sp minimum yet. they might not want to risk him getting covid between now and the olympics. other than that i’m not really sure why they wouldn’t send him. i love jason and nathen and vincent though, so i’m super torn!

The next Olympics scheduled for Milan 2026 will probably be a knock-down-drag-out fight, fit for Game of Thrones. The Russians already have several dragons in the wings, one of them is currently 12! He will be of Olympic age by the time the Milan games descend upon the earth. (Honestly, you can't make this stuff up!) His name is Arsney Federov, and he already has several quads. Did I mention he's 12!!!! Ilia can certainly keep up (that's not a problem), but he won't be the only one out their with incredibly consistent and breathtaking quads. Currently Ilia, WITHOUT A DOUBT, is leading this pack and he is currently, BEFORE EVEN COMPETING IN AN OLYMPIC GAMES, already the heir apparent to Hanyu. You might as well put a stamp on that! And we know that Ilia can comfortably do triple-quad combos, and yes, even quad-quad combos! He has even performed triple lutz-QUAD LOOP. Insane. Folks we are witnessing a shift in our sport that is happening at lightening speed. Either way, the Milan Olympics, COVID be damned, will be brutal. The troops are readying for battle and I can feel the earth shaking. Milan will be something like we've never seen before. If I were you, I'd take cover now!

Yes, people are noticing him! His parents were top skaters for Uzbekistan in the late 1990s.

Nonstop training and working with Nathan Chens coach is my guess. But yes he has improved astronomically on the last 4 years.
